00:00 David Garrier, the teacher you were at the Conservatoire de Lyon,
00:04 shares the stage with some of his students today.
00:07 Does that mean you are a very good teacher?
00:09 I don't know. It's true that when you are a teacher at the Conservatoire,
00:12 you have a lot of students who will become great professionals.
00:15 So it's always very nice to be colleagues with them afterwards,
00:19 and to see some of them again.
00:22 Today there are two in the room, so it's very important.
00:25 Music is really that, sharing, sharing of passion,
00:29 sharing of the requirements and all the things you can do with the instrument.
00:35 But getting on stage together is the real thing.
00:40 So explain to us a little bit, because there is the tuba, the trombone, the choir, the trumpet,
00:46 you are the trumpet, right? What is the nuance between all these instruments?
00:50 Let's say it's a big family, where there are a lot of instruments
00:53 that have a little different roles and different textures.
00:56 The trumpet is the instrument, at the beginning it's the instrument of God,
00:59 which was really only in the courts of the prince,
01:01 so it's an instrument that has a very strong connotation like that.
01:04 The trombone is more of a death instrument,
01:06 even if it's very close to the trumpet at the beginning,
01:08 a little bit more serious than the instrument.
01:10 And then the body, which is more associated with hunting,
01:12 and arrived in music a little later,
01:14 so it's also a little more earthly universe, maybe.
01:17 And the tuba is the bass instrument of the trombone trumpets,
01:20 so each instrument has a little of its use in the orchestra.
01:25 What advice do you give to young people to start getting passionate about these instruments?
01:30 What's great about us is that we learn to play together very quickly.
01:35 For the brass, we will play in harmony very, very quickly,
01:40 so we are immediately in this collective game,
01:43 and that's what's really extraordinary, as an experience to live.
01:47 A little musical sentence to conclude?
01:50 Yes, that's it.
01:52 Thank you.
