00:02 - 358,000 gallons of water.
00:05 - Every single day?
00:06 - Yep.
00:07 - Where is all of this water coming from?
00:09 'Cause we're basically in the middle of a desert.
00:11 - Right.

00:14 - At its core, human footprint is our story.
00:19 It's a story of humans.
00:21 How they've changed the planet
00:25 in so many strange, weird, fundamental ways.
00:29 (upbeat music)
00:31 But then also how those changes kind of flip back around
00:34 and change who we are as a species.
00:37 We wanted to make a science series that really explored
00:42 the way in which we transform the planet.
00:44 We have an episode on invasive species.
00:46 We have an episode all about dogs.
00:49 We have an episode about cities.
00:51 And then looking at humans as the world's top predator.
00:53 It's a complicated world out there
00:56 and issues you might have a strong opinion about
00:58 are a lot more complicated than you might think.
01:00 - In large part, PBS is the reason why I'm a scientist
01:07 and the reason why I've gravitated toward storytelling.
01:11 Those first people who looked like me
01:14 that I actually saw storytelling were all on PBS.
01:18 There's such a rich history in PBS
01:21 and proud to now be a part of that history.
