A storm system forecast to impact the Northeast will renew the flash flooding threat for many. AccuWeather forecasters say drier weather could be on the horizon.

00:00 More rounds of rain on the way for the Northeast and the Mid-Atlantic, and that spells bad news considering, well look at the 30 day rainfall here.
00:09 Areas in that dark forest green around Albany, around Portland, Maine, into Worcester, Massachusetts, we have not just been wet, but very wet.
00:17 Exceedingly large amounts of rainfall over the past 30 days, especially in the past two weeks.
00:22 We've seen the damage and devastation in upstate New York and the state of Vermont as a result of flooding and flash flooding.
00:28 I do think there are concerns as we move through today and tomorrow for more of the same, especially looking into northern New England, through upstate New York, and into the northeastern tier of Pennsylvania.
00:39 Cities like Scranton, up through Albany, New York, Burlington, Vermont, back to Worcester, all the way to Portland, Maine in that dark green.
00:47 That's where our flooding and flash flooding concerns are highest as our next rounds of storms move through the region.
00:52 Now, even the areas further to the west in the Ohio Valley, cities like Charleston, West Virginia and Pittsburgh, still have that potential for some flooding with very heavy rain.
01:01 At the very least, it's going to make travel awfully difficult.
01:04 Now, it starts today as thunderstorms push through the Midwest and in through the Ohio Valley.
01:09 So cities like Pittsburgh up to really far western New York, looking at Buffalo, for example, we'll see those thunderstorms come in this afternoon and tonight.
01:17 Meanwhile, the I-81 and I-95 corridors stay largely clear of any storms, but it's going to be awfully warm and awfully humid.
01:25 The heat and humidity come back into play tomorrow as fuel for those thunderstorms now pushing toward the I-81 corridor and across 95 as well.
01:34 Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and I do think Washington, D.C. will have some thunderstorms tomorrow.
01:39 D.C., though, I think you start your day with a couple nasty storms here.
01:42 Look at the line on future radar pushing through central and eastern Pennsylvania just as we're starting Friday, getting into those dark and early hours of Friday morning.
01:50 445 a.m. in Washington, D.C. with plenty of thunder, lightning, heavy rain, and some gusty winds as well.
01:56 Philadelphia, it's more of the same.
01:58 Now, this line falls apart a little bit by the time we get to the late morning and early afternoon, but what's left over is heavy rain still in New England and these little pockets of thunderstorms.
02:08 Those thunderstorms, they're small but mighty, and I think we could have some issues as we move through the afternoon and evening with not just the heavy rain, but some damaging gusty winds not out of the question.
02:19 You can see we've added a some risk for spotty, severe weather here right across I-95 from Philadelphia stretching back toward Baltimore down through the Delaware Peninsula here.
02:28 We are looking at some issues in terms of flooding downpours, localized damaging wind gusts, and I think travel, once again, will be a concern with spotty, severe weather.
