00:02 Science fiction has promised us flying cars for decades.
00:06 And now in the year 2023, we might finally be getting one.
00:09 This is Dorone Aerospace's two seater EVTOL
00:12 or electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft.
00:15 And according to the company,
00:16 it has had its first successful manned flight
00:19 of its flagship flying car.
00:20 Daron Merdinger, the Florida based company's founder
00:23 and CEO says, this is a first milestone in the industry.
00:27 Saying about it, quote,
00:28 "I am absolutely thrilled by the remarkable success
00:30 of our team in completing the first ever
00:32 US manned test flight of a personal two seater EVTOL.
00:36 It felt like floating on a cushion of air,
00:38 experiencing a level of freedom and excitement
00:40 that is unparalleled."
00:42 And he might be right about how revolutionary
00:44 the vehicle actually is.
00:45 That's because it can fly upwards of 140 miles per hour
00:49 with a 60 mile range.
00:50 But perhaps most incredibly,
00:52 it can charge in just 15 to 20 minutes.
00:54 A rare feat indeed for anyone familiar
00:56 with electric vehicles.
00:58 It's also semi-autonomous,
00:59 meaning it's more reliable for passengers.
01:02 The company says it's expected to be available late 2024
01:05 with a $195,000 price tag.
