00:00 We still have Terry Schultz standing by, a correspondent for France 24 in Vilnius.
00:03 Terry, NATO's chief, Jens Stoltenberg, said the most urgent task now is to ensure that
00:07 Ukraine has enough weapons.
00:10 What is NATO promising in that regard?
00:15 You know, this goes country by country.
00:18 Each government makes its own promise to Ukraine.
00:21 NATO doesn't provide any weapons itself.
00:22 So we just have to track what announcements are coming out of the countries.
00:27 Again, as you say, France did make an announcement here.
00:30 Not a lot of other countries did.
00:32 They do that every month in a format known as the Ramstein Group.
00:36 And they meet, led by the United States, and make their new weapons commitments, coordinate
00:41 what's there already, discuss how they're going to repair what's on the ground, how
00:45 it's going to be interoperable, and those kind of things.
00:47 So that isn't really something that happens at the summit, although you did hear some
00:51 ad hoc announcements like that.
00:52 The other important thing that we didn't mention that just happened was that the G7 made an
00:57 announcement about security assurances.
00:59 So that, of course, broadens the support beyond NATO allies to the world's most powerful economies.
01:04 You had the Japanese here, and President Biden mentioned this himself.
01:07 Japan, a neutral country, very opposed to military action.
01:11 They have really stepped up when it comes to Ukraine and helped, for example, with supplying
01:16 some medical equipment for Ukraine.
01:18 They're not going to take part directly in providing arms, but they have done what they
01:22 can on the sidelines in accordance with their constitution and with their citizens' wishes.
01:27 So you now have the G7 backing security assurances, long-term security assurances for Ukraine.
