00:00:00 True it is, without falsehood certain and most true, that that which is above is like
00:00:16 to that which is below, and that which is below is like to that which is above, to accomplish
00:00:24 the miracles of one thing.
00:00:28 And, as all things were by the contemplation of one, so all things arose from this one
00:00:36 thing by a single act of adaption.
00:00:40 The Father thereof is the Sun, the Mother the Moon, the Wind carried it in its womb,
00:00:48 the Earth is the Nurse thereof.
00:00:51 It is the Father of all works of wonder throughout the whole world, the Power thereof is perfect,
00:00:58 if it be cast to Earth it will separate the element of Earth from that of Fire, the subtle
00:01:05 from the gross.
00:01:06 With great sagacity it doth descend to Earth and uniteth in itself the force from things
00:01:13 superior and things inferior.
00:01:16 Thus thou wilt possess the glory of the brightness of the whole world, and all obscurity will
00:01:23 fly far from thee.
00:01:26 This thing is the strong fortitude of all strength, for it overcometh every subtle thing,
00:01:33 and doth penetrate every solid substance.
00:01:37 Thus was this world created.
00:01:41 Hence there will be marvellous adaptions achieved, of which the manner is this, and for this
00:01:47 reason I am called Hermes Trismegistus, because I hold three parts of the wisdom of the whole
00:01:54 world, and that which I had to say about the operation of song is completed.

00:02:35 Hidden deep in a national forest located in Southern California is the secluded headquarters
00:02:40 of the Church of the Hermetic Sciences.
00:02:43 We named our rustic estate Rivendell after the woodland home of the elves described in
00:02:49 J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy classic, Lord of the Rings.
00:02:54 And as you can see, our Rivendell certainly evokes that image.
00:02:59 What better place could we have found to research, teach, and practice the ancient rites of
00:03:05 magic?
00:03:06 Hermetic magic is our own English and European cultural tradition of shamanism and seership.
00:03:13 It is the magic of King Solomon of Berlin, of Nostradamus and Count Coleostro.
00:03:19 It has been called sorcery, necromancy, and black magic by those who do not understand
00:03:26 it, and yet it is also known as the art of kings and the secret science of the philosophers.
00:03:34 Here at Rivendell, we have everything necessary to pursue the study and the practical application
00:03:41 of this ultimate human adventure.
00:03:44 We have an outdoor hinge for seasonal ceremonies, an indoor temple for magical rites, an astronomical
00:03:51 observatory to view the heavens, and a hermitage for retreats, lectures, and fellowship.
00:03:58 Come inside with me now, and together we will lift the veil obscuring this ancient art of
00:04:05 wizardry.
00:04:07 Welcome to the Church of the Hermetic Sciences and the Order of the Temple of Astarte.
00:04:12 In the outer world, I'm known as Polk Runyon, but here in the inner world of the Rivendell
00:04:19 Hermitage, I'm the Archimage Frater Thabion, your host and guide on a tour of the wonderful
00:04:27 world of Hermetic magic.
00:04:31 Hermetic magic is an art, a philosophy, and a very ancient and powerful religion. Yes,
00:04:38 a religion, but with an essential difference from other religions, where they depend upon
00:04:45 faith for their salvation, we seek the wisdom and power of the Gnosis. Know yourself, for
00:04:54 in your temple you are one with the gods.
00:04:59 In our two previous videos, The Magic of Solomon and The Dark Mirror of Magic, we emphasized
00:05:06 the techniques of evocation and invocation. That's summoning spirits to visible appearance
00:05:13 and calling down angels to converse with them. Now in some ways this is putting the cart
00:05:20 before the horse, because there's a lot more to the philosophy and practice of magic than
00:05:27 these two methods.
00:05:29 In this production, we're going to give you a broader perspective. We'll cover Hermetic
00:05:34 magical yoga, path workings, seasonal ceremonies, the mystical Eucharist, and the Enochian Aether
00:05:41 system.
00:05:50 Let us begin by establishing the magical universe within ourselves through the process
00:05:57 of Hermetic magical yoga.
00:06:08 When I first began my study of magic back in 1968, I was impressed with the Tibetan
00:06:15 system of tantric yoga as described in the series of books edited by W. Evans Wentz.
00:06:22 I soon realized that the modern European magus, Franz Barden, and the British magician, Alistair
00:06:30 Crowley, had both incorporated Eastern yoga techniques into Western magic, but they had
00:06:38 both stopped short of adapting the most important Eastern yoga system to Western practice, that
00:06:45 of the straight line spinal chakra system.
00:06:49 Neither Barden nor Crowley could overcome the differences between this Indian tantric
00:06:55 configuration and the three-pillared Western tree of life, even though the ancient caduceus
00:07:01 of Hermes was a major clue, along with the Renaissance Hermetic mystic Johann Gitchell's
00:07:08 drawing of a Western Hermetic chakra arrangement back in 1696. And the lightning flash or flaming
00:07:15 sword on the tree of life itself is also an obvious clue.
00:07:22 But we still should not fault Barden and Crowley over much for failing to realize and develop
00:07:28 this vital secret, because in the latter half of the 20th century, after Barden and Crowley
00:07:35 had both died, Tibetan exiles began to teach selected Western students the inner secrets
00:07:42 of their magic. Now those of us who were fortunate enough to sit at the feet of Tibetan gurus
00:07:49 and learn their tantras firsthand soon discovered that there were different chakra systems for
00:07:56 each deity we invoked. The previous notion that all Eastern chakra arrangements were
00:08:02 the same, and had been that way for thousands of years, was just simply not true. Along
00:08:09 with this revelation, it is equally important to note that magical color is what we actively
00:08:17 impose upon the inner planes, not what we passively observe when we scry.
00:08:25 Therefore, our chakras can conform to our own Kabbalistic color scales. In our case,
00:08:32 my year of study and practice with the Sakya Order of Tibetan Tantric Buddhism, under the
00:08:38 tutelage of the late Lüding Ken Rinpoche, confirmed for me the validity of this Western
00:08:45 Kabbalistic chakra system we had first developed in 1975 and published back in 1975.
00:08:55 We have since gone on to perfect a master ritual in which all our ancient pantheon of
00:09:02 Phoenician gods indwell in the Kabbalistic spheres within the body of the magician.
00:09:11 Within the mystic rose and fire opal jewel of Hod, we enter the alchemical laboratory
00:09:21 of Kothar, the ancient Phoenician predecessor of Tubal-Kain. Within the mystic rose and
00:09:28 emerald jewel of Netzach, we come into the presence of the goddess Astarte, adorned with
00:09:39 all the jewels of the Hermetic cosmos. I cannot overemphasize the importance of this
00:09:46 development. This Kabbalistic chakra arrangement is certainly a significant advance in Western
00:09:53 magic. It goes far beyond the Golden Dawn's middle pillar exercise, providing inner well-springs
00:10:01 of power for every magical operation, for the creation of the body of light, and for
00:10:08 the ultimate mystical experience of merger with the Godhead. At present, we are the only
00:10:17 esoteric group in the Western world employing and teaching this system.
00:10:24 [Chanting]
00:10:52 There are other ways of entering this hidden magical universe. Following the Hermetic principle
00:10:59 of "as above, so below; as within, so without," we have again combined the best of Western
00:11:06 and Eastern methods in our path-working system. Some people might call this technique "astral
00:11:16 projection." We prefer the term "inner plane projection." In 1971, our late Frederick
00:11:23 Polonius, known in the outer world as John Brooks, a former student of Sikhsant Guru
00:11:29 Kirpal Singh, conducted us on a hypnotic journey into a magical realm of surpassing wonders
00:11:36 and deep wisdom. The key element of this path-working system is its symbolic attention points. Guide
00:11:45 posts along the way from which the traveler receives special knowledge for himself or
00:11:52 herself alone. This transforms what might otherwise be only a deep trance reverie into
00:11:59 a true initiation. We cabalized Kirpal Singh's Eastern cosmos, and we added the Golden Dawn's
00:12:10 own Eastern import, the elemental tatwa symbols, as doorways in the center of our great dark
00:12:17 mirror.
00:12:22 Come with us now as we venture along the thirty-second path on our journey to the sphere of Yasod,
00:12:29 the storehouse of memories, and the entrance to the astral plane. The mirror is suspended
00:12:37 in space and time. From within our temple it opens out upon the vast darkness of the
00:12:44 universe. It is a portal between dimensions, the gateway to realms beyond.
00:12:52 Temple path-workings are usually done inside the magic circle, with the participants lying
00:13:00 in a ground star configuration on their backs, heads together, looking up into a suspended
00:13:07 circular convex dark mirror. The appropriate tatwa symbol, in this case Parvati representing
00:13:14 the earth element, is placed in the center of the great mirror. The mirror, suspended
00:13:20 waist high, also serves as an altar top on which will be placed the symbols relating
00:13:27 to the path and the sphere of the working. After a hypnotic induction which renders the
00:13:34 physical body inert, the living spirit body is released from the dormant physical form
00:13:41 and flies up through the tatwa which serves as an astral doorway leading to the inner
00:13:48 realms of the Olam Yetzirah.
00:13:55 On the highest point of the ridge line, silhouetted against the glow of the Milky Way, we see
00:14:02 the great T-shaped stone dolmen. It stands stark black against the heavenly river of
00:14:21 souls. We climb the trail along the ridge crest. It becomes steeper and more precarious
00:14:28 as we make our way upward. Finally we reach the top and we stand at the base of the dolmen.
00:14:36 A cool sea breeze touches our faces. We look down to a desolate shore and out over a vast
00:14:45 ignited seascape. This is the Gulf of Nepesh, that ever dark sea of forgotten dreams and
00:14:52 ancient remembrance. The moon is hiding behind a veil of cloud, shrouding the sea of mystery
00:15:00 and darkness. We examine the ancient stone dolmen. It is 12 feet high and roughly chiseled
00:15:07 from coarse black stone. The 6 foot long cross member on the top forms the T. There are forged,
00:15:15 bronze rings set near the ends of the cross. On the upright member there are hand and toe
00:15:22 holds and a ledge to stand on. We realize that this dolmen must have been used by shamans
00:15:29 of old in a vision quest rite of self-crucifixion and that we are now here for that purpose
00:15:36 ourselves. Each of us in turn will climb up upon this great Tao cross. Now it's your turn
00:15:45 and you climb up to stand on the ledge. Carefully you move around to face outward. You stretch
00:15:52 out your arms in the sign of Osiris and you grasp the bronze rings. The moon emerges from
00:16:02 behind the clouds and bathes the vast seascape beyond in a pale silver light. You have a
00:16:11 panoramic view of the shoreline and the gulf. A thousand yards out beyond the surf a great
00:16:18 statue rises out of the dark waters. This is the Colossus of Yesod. Far out on the dark
00:16:26 horizon to your left an orange light flashes from the distant sphere of Hod and far off
00:16:37 to the right a green spark glimmers from the sphere of Netzach. These distant beacons focus
00:16:44 their rays on the crystal atop the Colossus. The crystal shimmers with an electric aura
00:16:53 and suddenly a deep blue ray is projected directly towards you. It engulfs you in a
00:17:01 violet blue field of magnetic energy. Your Yesod chakra is awakened. A rose of nine yellow
00:17:08 petals has opened to reveal a glittering violet amethyst. You have thus received the second
00:17:17 of the jewels with which you will build your body of light. Remember it always and treasure
00:17:26 it well. After we have received our mystical empowerment we will journey out over the dark
00:17:33 gulf to climb the spiral ramp circling the Colossus. We will enter the crystal globe
00:17:40 of memory and relive one of our past lives. Following this experience we will return along
00:17:47 our path to the astral doorway that leads us back through the dark mirror and into the
00:17:54 temple where we will awaken from our hypnotic trance recalling our adventure and the knowledge
00:18:01 we have gained.
00:18:09 For the magician his religion is the source of his power. He calls upon God or the gods
00:18:22 to aid him in his quest for wisdom, inner strength and enlightenment. But what is the
00:18:29 best religion for a magician? Most of us have been raised in one or another of the biblically
00:18:36 based faiths, none of which are supportive of the practice of magic. And yet old King
00:18:43 Solomon was deemed to have been the greatest magician of the ages. What was his religion?
00:18:51 Judaism? Well officially perhaps. But I believe that King Solomon's secret religion was the
00:18:58 same as Melchizedek's a thousand years earlier. The ancient religion behind the Bible, the
00:19:10 oldest religion, the religion of ancient Canaan and Phoenicia, the religion of King Solomon's
00:19:19 friend King Hiram of Tyre who helped him to build the great temple in Jerusalem, the temple
00:19:26 to God. But how did they spell God's name? With such a vision shining out of the mists
00:19:34 of time there came a compulsion to resurrect this ancient magical religion.
00:19:47 Before the 1930s discovery of an ancient Canaanite royal library unearthed at Rashomra dating
00:19:54 back to the time of Melchizedek, we had no clear idea of the original magical religion
00:20:02 that lay behind our Bible. The Bible relates that the legendary Canaanite priest-king Melchizedek
00:20:09 had given the holy sacraments and priestly dispensation to Father Abraham. And in the
00:20:15 New Testament Jesus is said to have been a priest after the order of Melchizedek. Beyond
00:20:21 that, we had only the biased accounts of later Hebrew zealots in the Old Testament and equally
00:20:28 critical Christian reports from classical times concerning the oldest religion. Before
00:20:34 the translations of the recently discovered Rashomra tablets became available in the 1950s,
00:20:42 our limited knowledge of the ancient Phoenician mysteries was summed up in such works as James
00:20:48 George Frazer's The Golden Bough and Jesse Weston's From Ritual to Romance. Back in
00:20:55 1969, through the magical medium of the dark mirror, I had contacted the ancient Phoenician
00:21:02 goddess Astarte and her consort Prince Baal. I knew that Astarte was the muse of old King
00:21:09 Solomon and the inspiration behind his reputation as the greatest magician of the ages. She
00:21:16 had inspired him to build a temple for her and she had inspired us to recreate her religion.
00:21:24 Ours was not the first recreation of an ancient pagan seasonal ritual cycle. We were fortunate
00:21:30 to have the example of Frederick Adams and Lady Svetlana's Ferraferia to guide us.
00:21:37 Their poetic and mystical modern recension of the ancient Greek Iliucinian mystery festivals
00:21:43 marked the beginning of the neo-pagan movement in modern America.
00:21:48 We began our yearly seasonal rites performed on the solstices and equinoxes back in 1974.
00:21:55 We have performed them four times yearly ever since.
00:22:00 Let us return now to 1974 at Montsobot Hermitage in Pasadena, California when we enacted our
00:22:07 first autumn equinox pageant, the Festival of Seven Gates, in which the goddess Astarte
00:22:15 descends through seven celestial portals to vanquish Mot, the lord of darkness and death,
00:22:22 and resurrect the dead Prince Baal. The actual ceremony was performed at night. What you
00:22:28 are watching was a reenactment for the camera filmed in daylight.
00:22:33 And though it lacks the drama and mystery of a torchlight performance, we are fortunate
00:22:38 to have captured the late pagan elder Joseph Wilson, our Frederick de Jute, and our honored
00:22:44 guests, Frederick Adams and Lady Svetlana of Ferraferia.
00:22:49 There is more to the symbolism of this ancient seasonal cycle than mere modernization of
00:22:56 a Bronze Age agricultural mythology. We are actually dramatizing the primal operations
00:23:02 of Hermetic alchemy. In autumn, the goddess bears the life-giving
00:23:06 grail down from the Holy Mountain through the seven gates of the underworld to resurrect
00:23:12 the dormant fertility god, Baal. This is the origin of the legend of Salovey's Dance of
00:23:18 the Seven Veils. Baal's thirst is quenched and he is revived
00:23:23 in the western quadrant of water under the sign of Mercury, representing the alchemical
00:23:28 process of solution. In winter, the world is threatened by storms
00:23:34 and floods brought on by the Dragon of Chaos. Alone, Prince Baal cannot defeat the dragon.
00:23:41 He shares his victory with the moon goddess, T'nit, at winter solstice in the northern
00:23:46 quadrant of earth under the sign of salt, representing the alchemical process of separation.
00:23:54 In spring, Baal and Astarte are united in the joyous rite of Hieros Gamos, or sacred
00:24:00 marriage at the equinox, which culminates in our communion of the elements ceremony
00:24:05 in the eastern quadrant of air under the sign of spirit, representing the alchemical process
00:24:11 of conjunction. In summer, Prince Baal, the green man, is
00:24:16 killed by the Dark Lord when the sun reaches its height at summer solstice.
00:24:22 Then the crops wither and die on the southern quadrant of fire under the sign of sulfur,
00:24:28 representing the alchemical process of calcination. And now, it is the eve of the summer solstice,
00:24:37 and you have been invited to Rivendell to participate in a magical adventure, the ancient
00:24:43 rite of Edonia, the Death of the Year King.
00:24:50 Welcome friends. Follow me across the bridge and into the world of magic.
00:24:58 [Bell ringing]
00:25:04 [Drumming]
00:25:10 Come and dance the circle round, the sun is high again.
00:25:15 Hail the green man's yearly gift, ripening the grain.
00:25:19 Fall suppine, fall the dye, Fall suppine, fall the dye, Fall suppine, fall the dye.
00:25:28 Lead us to the sacred ground, The summer has begun.
00:25:32 Call the year-king with his grail, To serve us every one.
00:25:36 Fall suppine, fall the dye, Fall suppine, fall the dye, Fall suppine, fall the dye.
00:25:45 Wind the circle round the henge, In the solstice rite.
00:25:50 Sing the hymn of olden time, Praise the Lord of light.
00:25:54 Fall suppine, fall the dye, Fall suppine, fall the dye, Fall suppine, fall the dye.
00:26:02 Come and dance the circle round, The sun is high again.
00:26:06 Hail the green man's yearly gift, Ripening the grain.
00:26:10 Fall suppine, fall the dye, Fall suppine, fall the dye, Fall suppine, fall the dye.
00:26:18 Lead us to the sacred ground, The summer has begun.
00:26:22 Call the year-king with his grail, To serve us every one.
00:26:26 Fall suppine, fall the dye, Fall suppine, fall the dye, Fall suppine, fall the dye.
00:26:34 Wind the circle round the henge, In the solstice rite.
00:26:38 Sing the hymn of olden time, praise the Lord of light!
00:26:42 Falls upon, fall and die! Falls upon, fall and die! Falls upon, fall and die!
00:26:50 Come and dance the circle round, the sun is high again.
00:26:54 Hail the green man's yearly gift, ripening the grain!
00:26:58 Falls upon, fall and die! Falls upon, fall and die! Falls upon, fall and die!
00:27:06 Lead us to the sacred ground, the summer has begun.
00:27:10 Call the year king with his grail, to serve us every one.
00:27:14 [music]
00:27:20 Edonia, the festival of the summer solstice.
00:27:25 The drama depicts the death of the year king
00:27:28 at the hand of the dark lord, opening the season of heat and dryness
00:27:34 in the southern quadrant of the magical circle,
00:27:39 which is ruled by the principle of fire and the philosophical element of sulfur,
00:27:45 symbolizing carlsenation, the first of the four primal operations of alchemy,
00:27:52 and accomplishing the purification of the spirit through sacrifice.
00:27:59 Harken now unto the myth of the sacred year, that with the coming of the summer solstice,
00:28:04 when the blazing torch of the gods reaches highest in the heavens,
00:28:09 and the fruits ripen on the vine, lo, prince be all is at the zenith of his power.
00:28:17 Like the gentle rains and the warming sun that cover the hills with green,
00:28:24 the prince of earth brings the blessing of heaven,
00:28:29 the golden seminal sacrament of life unto the celebrants of his ancient rites,
00:28:35 and such is the mystery of the holy grail.
00:28:40 But that star-born crater was not filled with the wine of blood or death,
00:28:46 but rather with the nectar of life, like unto the straw of the suralingam,
00:28:53 symbolized by golden honeymead in the great chalice of the solstices.
00:29:01 So it was.
00:29:03 So it is.
00:29:09 And so shall it be.
00:29:13 [MUSIC - "O YOU OF MANY NAMES"]
00:29:25 O you of many names, receive our praise. To you, O best beloved, we sing our lays.
00:29:38 With buteous temporal orb, restore to sight, and with first fruits and summer flames delight.
00:30:04 [MUSIC - "O YOU OF MANY NAMES"]
00:30:24 [NON-ENGLISH SINGING]
00:30:36 [NON-ENGLISH SINGING]
00:31:02 [NON-ENGLISH SINGING]
00:31:21 Before us.
00:31:23 [NON-ENGLISH SINGING]
00:31:41 Behind us.
00:31:42 [NON-ENGLISH SINGING]
00:31:58 At our right hand.

00:32:17 At our left hand.
00:32:18 [NON-ENGLISH SINGING]
00:32:36 For a bodice flame, the blessed pentagrams. And in our column shines the six-rayed star.
00:32:42 [MUSIC - "O YOU OF MANY NAMES"]
00:32:54 By the alchemy of calcination, darkness, fear, and woe be gone.
00:33:00 We light this fire of purification in the mystic name of Saul Om Han.
00:33:10 [MUSIC - "O YOU OF MANY NAMES"]
00:33:32 Holy Henge of Cycling Seasons.
00:33:35 [BELL RINGING]

00:34:13 And the golden sun we now revere.
00:34:15 [BELL RINGING]
00:34:43 Tree-born Lord in leafy arraignment, sired by golden solar ray.
00:34:48 Thee we invoke with scent of myrrh.
00:34:52 It holds Seneir a sacred way.
00:34:56 Come to us from far Afaka, spring and shrine and sacred tree.
00:35:09 Where roses bloom by lofty cedars and a crimson river seeks the sea.
00:35:14 Come to us, Lord Bough Cloud Rider, Rain Cloud Rider, Prince of Earth.
00:35:21 Pour for us the dew of heaven, holy zra of life and worth.
00:35:28 [DRUMMING]
00:35:58 [CHANTING]
00:36:06 Behold the golden dew of heaven.
00:36:10 Born of thunder clouds on high.
00:36:20 Drink with me this life elixir.
00:36:27 Stead she round till the cup be dry.
00:36:31 [CHANTING]
00:36:55 Who drinks with thee?
00:36:56 We drink with thee.
00:36:57 Who drinks with me?
00:36:58 We drink with thee.
00:37:00 Who drinks with me?
00:37:01 We drink with thee.
00:37:02 Who drinks with me?
00:37:04 We drink with thee.
00:37:06 Then drink.
00:37:07 [CHANTING]
00:37:19 [CHANTING]
00:37:26 Who drinks with me?
00:37:27 We drink with thee.
00:37:29 Who drinks with me?
00:37:30 We drink with thee.
00:37:31 Then drink.
00:37:33 [CHANTING]
00:37:42 Round and round the king we hail.
00:37:44 The holy grail, the holy grail.
00:37:46 Who has had their drink with me?
00:37:48 Drink.
00:37:49 [CHANTING]
00:37:59 Well done, brother.
00:38:01 [LAUGHTER]
00:38:02 Well done.
00:38:03 [LAUGHTER]
00:38:05 And it is done.
00:38:08 [DRUMMING]
00:38:17 Who dares to roll the drum of battle?
00:38:21 Who comes upon me from the north?
00:38:25 Who marches on me from the darkness?
00:38:28 I, Prince Baal, do call thee forth.
00:38:32 [DRUMMING]
00:38:48 I am Moat, thy royal brother, prince of ruin, death and gloom.
00:38:56 Thou hast had thy fruitful season.
00:39:00 Now 'tis time to seek the tomb.
00:39:04 [LAUGHTER]
00:39:12 [GRUNTING]
00:39:14 [SIGHS]
00:39:21 [LAUGHTER]
00:39:23 [LAUGHTER]
00:39:26 [SIGHS]
00:39:30 [LAUGHTER]
00:39:48 Now the crops will parch and wither.
00:39:54 Rivers, streams, and wells be dried.
00:39:59 [LAUGHTER]
00:40:03 I have laid my curse upon thee.
00:40:07 Drought and famine evermore.
00:40:11 Death and rot and disillusion is all thou hast in store.
00:40:17 [LAUGHTER]
00:40:24 [DRUMMING]
00:40:30 Alas, alas, Prince Baal has fallen.
00:40:35 The curse of Moat is on the land.
00:40:38 Call we now on Theristarte.
00:40:41 Only she can stay his hand.
00:40:44 Queen of heaven, Theristarte, mistress of the evening star,
00:40:53 wave-born goddess, dove of morning, hear us in thy land afar.
00:41:00 Come to us on white wings gliding.
00:41:03 Come to us on crested foam.
00:41:07 Bring to us your love supernal from your emerald palaced home.
00:41:13 Hear our call, oh Theristarte, consort of our dead Prince Baal.
00:41:21 Lift the curse of Moat upon us.
00:41:24 Shield us from the fires of Saul.
00:41:28 Grace the land with milk and honey.
00:41:31 Save the seedlings in the earth.
00:41:34 Grant us hope for all the future.
00:41:38 Give us life and love and birth.

00:41:55 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:42:24 I have heard thy call, my children,
00:42:27 but at last you cried too late.
00:42:30 Here I weep in mourning with you at my lover's yearly fate.
00:42:35 With him goes the bloom of springtime.
00:42:38 With him pass the gentle rains.
00:42:41 He alone could fruit the hillside.
00:42:42 He alone could green the plains.
00:42:44 Yet am I still queen eternal, star-born daughter
00:42:48 of the great El?
00:42:49 Seedlings slumber, yearlings prosper
00:42:51 under my protecting spell.
00:42:54 In the autumn I do pledge ye war to make the dark lord yield.
00:42:58 Armed with stock and stone to grind him,
00:43:00 I shall cast Moat to the field.
00:43:03 Bearing with me heaven's nectar, I
00:43:05 shall raise the dead Prince Baal to regain again
00:43:08 in winter season with the waxing rays of soul.
00:43:12 Come ye now, mourn him with me.
00:43:15 Burn away the blood-borne rose.
00:43:18 Purify the soul in sadness.
00:43:21 Shed the tears of she who knows.
00:43:24 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:43:27 Each rose is the blood of the year, king.
00:43:45 Burn it, and thy sorrows be forgot.
00:43:50 These waters are the tears of the goddess.
00:43:52 Shed them, and thy sadness will pass.
00:43:54 Each rose is the blood of the year, king.
00:44:06 Burn it, and thy sorrows be forgot.
00:44:08 These waters are the tears of the goddess.
00:44:14 Shed them, and thy sadness will pass.

00:46:26 Who drinks with me?
00:46:33 When I researched the ancient Canaanite tablets
00:46:40 discovered at Ugarit, and not translated
00:46:44 until after World War II, I made an amazing discovery.
00:46:50 Prince Baal was said to have filled a great holy goblet
00:46:55 with 10,000 pitchers of wine.
00:46:58 This supported anthropologist Jesse Weston's earlier 1920
00:47:03 Phoenician origin theory for the Holy Grail in her book
00:47:08 From Ritual to Romance.
00:47:10 The Holy Grail and the other grail halos
00:47:14 are far older than Christianity, older even
00:47:19 than Moses.
00:47:20 They go back to the days of Melchizedek.
00:47:24 These sacred objects, which are the four elemental weapons,
00:47:28 the suits of the tarot, and the implements of the magus,
00:47:32 are the living heart of our magical religion.
00:47:34 They are the instruments of our art,
00:47:37 the holy implements of our transformation,
00:47:39 and they are central to our most solemn and sacred
00:47:43 Eucharistic rite of seven sacraments,
00:47:46 the most ancient communion of the elements.
00:47:49 It is well known that the four grail halos, being the sword,
00:47:59 the lance, the chalice, and the shield or platter,
00:48:03 are symbolic of the four philosophical elements of air,
00:48:07 fire, water, and earth, which in turn represent
00:48:11 the four suits of the tarot.
00:48:13 What is not so well known is that these symbolic weapons
00:48:17 and implements and their use in sacred ritual
00:48:21 predate the Judeo-Christian tradition.
00:48:25 Recall that the Canaanite priest King Melchizedek
00:48:28 gave the sacraments to Abraham 1,000 years before Moses
00:48:32 and 2,000 years before the beginning of Christianity.
00:48:37 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
00:48:40 I shall fear no evil.
00:48:43 Thou art with me.
00:48:44 Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
00:48:48 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.
00:48:54 Thou anointest my head with oil.
00:48:56 My cup runneth over.
00:48:59 Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me
00:49:02 all the days of my life.
00:49:05 And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
00:49:08 You are watching a communion service filmed
00:49:12 in our Montsouvat Temple back in 1974.
00:49:16 In this version of the rite, the magic circle
00:49:19 is raised up to be a serving table,
00:49:22 and the priestess and the priest officiate from within,
00:49:26 while the celebrants circle to receive the sacraments.
00:49:32 In this most ancient version of the Eucharist,
00:49:35 the chalice is filled with the life-giving essence
00:49:38 of fermented honey rather than the blood and death
00:49:41 surrogate of wine.
00:49:43 In the Hermetic tradition, we also sanctify and share
00:49:48 the aerial incense, the fire, and the bread and salt
00:49:52 of the earth.
00:49:53 And finally, we anoint the celebrant with holy oil
00:49:57 and bestow the kiss of Agape, representing
00:50:00 the infusion of spirit, the fifth element, which quickens
00:50:05 and enlivens the other four.
00:50:07 Thus, seven sacraments are blessed and administered.
00:50:12 There are two great mysteries and magics
00:50:15 attendant to this rite.
00:50:17 The first is the personal transubstantiation
00:50:20 of the Eucharist itself, an internal alchemy made more
00:50:24 meaningful with the ingestion of a seminal sacrament, which
00:50:27 relates to the second great mystery of the holy shrine
00:50:30 itself, within which the true configuration of the cherubim
00:50:35 in the Holy of Holies is revealed.
00:50:38 For was it not written in the Sefer HaZohar that,
00:50:42 in the temple, hidden and concealed
00:50:44 is the secret of the Holy of Holies, which
00:50:47 are the two cherubs of Zaire-Anpin and Malkuth.
00:50:51 The Holy of Holies above is the secret
00:50:53 of the Supernal Hokmai Bina, similarly,
00:50:57 the groom and the bride.
00:51:00 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:51:02 In recent years, our high communion
00:51:26 has been presented in total silence, with spiritual music
00:51:30 in the background.
00:51:31 The symbolic gestures of our acolytes, our deacon,
00:51:35 and our priest and priestess are more eloquent and evocative
00:51:39 than words.
00:51:40 The deacon gives the charge and opens the temple
00:51:42 with a pentagram ritual.
00:51:44 The acolytes then enter in procession,
00:51:47 carrying with them the grail hallows,
00:51:49 and they venerate the elements.
00:51:51 The priestess and priest open the shrine
00:51:54 to reveal the ultimate mystery, and then
00:51:57 administer the sacraments to the celebrants.
00:52:00 Now, let us observe the rite as it
00:52:03 was recently performed for our Southern California
00:52:07 magical community.

01:04:18 One of the most remarkable events in the history of Western magic
01:04:22 occurred during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.
01:04:26 The most brilliant scholar of Renaissance England
01:04:30 was Dr. John Dee.
01:04:32 But Dr. John Dee was also
01:04:36 a secret agent for the crown,
01:04:39 the Queen's royal astrologer,
01:04:41 and a ceremonial magician.
01:04:44 For five years, Dee and his scryer, Edward Kelly,
01:04:49 invoked a number of mysterious angels
01:04:53 who gave them a secret magical language
01:04:57 and a complex system of invocation.
01:05:00 This angelic language was called Enochian
01:05:04 after the biblical prophet Enoch.
01:05:07 And it was cryptically displayed on tablets
01:05:11 said to be the watchtowers of the universe.
01:05:15 This Enochian system of magic
01:05:18 was partially published in 1659
01:05:21 in a remarkable book called
01:05:24 A True and Faithful Relation of What Passed for Many Years
01:05:29 Between Dr. John Dee and Some Spirits,
01:05:32 Tending, had it succeeded,
01:05:34 to a General Alteration of Most States and Kingdoms in the World.
01:05:39 Now in today's New Age terminology,
01:05:42 the magical process detailed in this book
01:05:45 would be called channeling.
01:05:47 But this 16th century Enochian revelation
01:05:50 was far more phenomenal and profound
01:05:53 than the later 19th century accounts of Summerland
01:05:58 given by spiritualist mediums
01:06:01 and the more recent extraterrestrial teachings
01:06:05 of the New Age channelers.
01:06:07 Neither can Enochian speech be likened to the glossolalia
01:06:10 of hysterical fundamentalists speaking in tongues.
01:06:14 This Enochian language actually has a syntax and a grammar.
01:06:19 It can be spoken, translated, and understood
01:06:23 by both disembodied spirits
01:06:26 and by the magicians who summon them.
01:06:29 These Enochian calls were so powerful
01:06:32 that they were originally delivered backwards
01:06:34 and in reverse order.
01:06:36 Only then, after they had been transcribed,
01:06:39 could they actually be understood.
01:06:42 Dr. Dee and Edward Kelly
01:06:45 spent thousands of hours over several years
01:06:49 gathering and meticulously recording this information
01:06:53 from the spiritual entities they had contacted.
01:06:57 Although the Enochian spirits claimed to be angels,
01:07:01 they were often wrathful, capricious, and even immoral.
01:07:06 But they were certainly biblical.
01:07:09 They rumbled and thundered in the apocalyptic style
01:07:13 of the book of Daniel and the book of Revelation.
01:07:16 If the later 18th century mystic poet and artist,
01:07:19 William Blake, had lived and died
01:07:22 before Dee and Kelly began their work,
01:07:25 one might even have suspected it was the ghost of Blake
01:07:28 they had raised because both expressions of mysticism
01:07:32 are similar in content and implication.
01:07:36 There are several systems of Enochian magic.
01:07:40 The one we employ is the ascension of the 30 aethers.
01:07:44 This derives from an early Gnostic cosmology
01:07:48 of 30 aeons, which are spiritually explored
01:07:52 in an ascending soul quest toward enlightenment,
01:07:55 an earthly presage of the soul's ascent after death.
01:08:00 The aether system uses the four elemental tablets
01:08:04 called watchtowers of the universe
01:08:07 and a smaller fifth tablet suspended above the altar.
01:08:11 This spiritual tablet of union unifies the four tablets
01:08:16 at the quarters of the magical circle.
01:08:19 In our configuration, a 150 millimeter amethystine
01:08:24 scrying orb is mounted above the Enochian sigil of emeth
01:08:29 or seal of God upon the altar.
01:08:33 The first stage of an Enochian ritual
01:08:36 is the opening and charging of the tablets.
01:08:40 This is called a watchtower opening.
01:08:43 It is actually a variation of the Golden Dawn's
01:08:46 greater pentagram ritual.

01:16:39 When we say "hermetic science,"
01:16:42 one of the first things that comes to mind is alchemy,
01:16:46 the philosopher's stone,
01:16:48 the universal medicine,
01:16:50 the elixir of life.
01:16:53 Come along with us now on a fantastic journey
01:16:57 into the strange world of alchemical transformation
01:17:02 as we present our bonus feature,
01:17:05 Masa Confusa, a short film by Eric Bozik.

01:22:13 Don't try this at home.
01:22:16 In our two previous productions,
01:22:20 we explored Solomon's art of angelic invocation
01:22:24 and the evocation of spirits in the dark mirror.
01:22:27 In this production, we've introduced you to hermetic yoga,
01:22:31 path workings, seasonal ceremonies,
01:22:34 the magical Eucharist, Enochian watchtowers,
01:22:37 and the perils of alchemical experimentation.
01:22:41 Beyond this lies the vision quest for the Holy Guardian Angel
01:22:46 and the profound mysteries of celestial magic.
01:22:51 At this point, you might be wondering,
01:22:53 "What magical tradition do we follow?
01:22:56 Do we derive from the Golden Dawn, the Ordo Templi Orientis,
01:23:01 or some other hermetic resecution order?"
01:23:04 No.
01:23:05 The tradition we follow is a hundred years older
01:23:09 than the Golden Dawn and the OTO.
01:23:12 Our initiations are based on the 18th century European rite of Kratarapoa,
01:23:18 which was a faithful reconstruction of the classical pagan initiatory rites
01:23:23 conducted in ancient Alexandria in the first century of the Common Era.
01:23:28 We are of the ancient hermetic tradition.
01:23:32 Now, if you will give just a moment's attention to Frater Namus,
01:23:37 our director, Greg Jednak,
01:23:39 who played Prince Baal in our seasonal ceremony you just witnessed.
01:23:44 Greg will introduce you to our other videos and publications.
01:23:49 Originally, we released the instructional documentary,
01:23:56 "The Magic of Solomon," in VHS format.
01:24:00 It is now available in an updated, extended DVD second edition.
01:24:06 This production dramatically demonstrates Solomon's magical arts
01:24:12 of angelic invocation and the evocation of spirits in the dark mirror.
01:24:18 At the same time, we released the companion volume,
01:24:22 "The Book of Solomon's Magic,"
01:24:25 for students who wish to actually master and practice Solomon's ancient art of magic.
01:24:31 We followed our first video with "The Dark Mirror of Magic" in VHS,
01:24:38 which recorded an actual magical operation
01:24:42 evoking a remarkable prophecy of world events that afterwards came to pass.
01:24:49 This video has also been updated and extended in a second edition DVD version.
01:24:58 We published "Secrets of the Golden Dawn" cipher manuscript
01:25:03 for students who want to learn the essentials of the Golden Dawn system,
01:25:08 and "Seasonal Rites of Baal and Astarte,"
01:25:12 which contains the complete scripts, staging directions, and commentary
01:25:17 for all four of our seasonal ceremonies,
01:25:20 including the summer solstice rite you saw performed in this production.
01:25:25 And we have also published two volumes of our occasional journal, "The Seventh Ray."
01:25:31 The first issue contains the Golden Dawn's hitherto secret document, "Book H,"
01:25:37 from which their Enochian magic was derived.
01:25:40 The second issue features our 11th sphere, "Tree of Life,"
01:25:44 with three new tarot cards in full color.
01:25:48 These materials are all available from us through our website
01:25:53 or through major online distributors.
01:25:56 In parting, let me remind you that in your temple you are one with the gods.
01:26:06 Farewell and good magic.
