00:00 outrageous. What's going on? Yep, so hot air has been sitting across Africa and it's
00:06 been moving its way northwards and it's all down to the jet stream, it often is
00:09 and it's the jet stream that divides the very hot air that is to the south and
00:13 the cooler air to the north and we're on the cool side of the jet stream at the
00:17 moment but it's the hot air that is dominating through northern areas of
00:20 Africa heading its way across Spain and Portugal and over the next few days
00:24 these are our temperatures easily into the high 30s possibly into the low 40s
00:29 and then to the 40s as we head through the week it's northern Africa right
00:32 through the Med heading from Spain where Jonathan is it'll be heading its way
00:36 towards Italy over the coming days where they could be breaking their national
00:40 record and these are the temperatures that we have our eyes on these are the
00:43 current highest temperatures for Spain Portugal Greece Italy and Morocco and
00:47 definitely regional temperature records to be broken and actually we're talking
00:50 about how Earth had its hottest hottest week ever recorded last week we know
00:54 that Europe is the continent warming faster than any other and it looks as
00:58 though sea temperatures through the Med could even get to 30 degrees next week
01:02 so feeling like a boss so for many unable to cool down but as I mentioned
01:08 the jet stream divides that very hot air through the Mediterranean in northern
01:11 Africa and we're on the cooler side of things so for us it's has it's been all
01:15 week long sunshine and showers and temperatures around about average at
01:19 best first thing this morning England and Wales starting off largely dry but
01:23 it's Scotland and Northern Ireland closer to our area of low pressure that
01:26 have showers initially and the showers heaviest for the far north of Scotland
01:30 bands moving through Northern Ireland southern Scotland and northern England
01:34 and as the Sun heats the ground hitting miss showers developing through England
01:37 and Wales so it's much like it's been over the last few days sunshine one
01:41 second a shower comes through and then the sunshine returns temperature wise
01:45 18 to 23 degrees which is pretty much where it should be for the time of year
01:49 but adding in the winds it'll feel cool as the heat of the Sun fades this
01:53 evening and overnight so the showers start to clear so clearer conditions
01:57 tonight's turning dry we lose that humidity so increasingly comfortable
02:01 nights sleep ahead but tomorrow we do it all over again more sunshine and showers
