The Tour de France 2023 will hold its Grand Départ in the Basque Country, with a first stage in Bilbao on 1st July, and will finish in Paris on 23rd July, on completion of a 3,404-km route that will tackle the difficult slopes of the country’s five mountain ranges. The battle for the Yellow Jersey will witness a decisive and emotional episode on the Puy de Dôme, where a stage finish will be held 35 years after the victory of Denmark’s Johnny Weltz. The return to this legendary climb will be accompanied by the rise in importance of sites that will mark the Tours of the future, such as the Grand Colombier or the Col de la Loze. The sole time-trial on the Tour de France in 2023 will take place over 22 kilometres between Passy and the Combloux ski resort in Haute-Savoie. The sprinters will also have the opportunity to express themselves on finishes in Bordeaux, Limoges, Moulins, before the grand finale on the Champs-Elysées.

00:00 I suppose that you are inspired by today's stage, you looked at the profile, is it a
00:10 van der Poel day?
00:12 We will see, we talked about it but in the end if it's going to be a sprint I think it's
00:19 important for Jasper to take the points as well, we discussed it and it was not a difficult
00:25 discussion in the end, we are here with one goal and it's to bring the green jersey home
00:29 to Paris, but you never know if a big group goes away, so there are a lot of things possible
00:37 today.
00:38 Indeed there could be a big group as soon as kilometre one.
00:42 For sure it's possible, only I think the beginning is not as hard as the end, so if the beginning
00:47 was also this hard it would be easier to form a big group that goes away, but I think today
00:53 a lot of people want to be in the break because it can go to the end.
00:58 Will you have your eye on Wout Van Acht?
01:02 Not only on him, there are a lot of strong riders here that have an advantage of being
01:08 in the breakaway, so we will have to make sure we put one from us in this break.
