00:00 for both competitors.
00:02 (crowd talking)
00:04 - Alejandro and Arnold, you know the rules
00:07 of the New York State boxing tradition you've heard about.
00:10 Always respect the rules, fight your best,
00:13 and protect yourself at all times.
00:15 Touch gloves is the word.
00:16 (crowd clapping)
00:19 - Let's go, Arnold!
00:20 - Six rounds in the junior middleweight division.
00:22 Arnold Gonzalez, the hometown guy, a lot of fans here.
00:26 Big smile, will he come through with a knockout?
00:30 Going up against Alejandro Munado,
00:31 who took this fight on short notice.
00:34 (bell dings)
00:36 Round away.
00:36 - These last minute opponents are always dangerous,
00:42 'cause you never really know what to expect.
00:45 You spend so much time preparing for one specific person,
00:50 and then to suddenly get a last minute change like that?
00:52 - That would give me heavy anxiety.
00:54 (laughing)
00:56 - The creature of habit.
00:57 Munera, this is his 20th fight.
01:01 This is an interesting record, you don't see this too often.
01:03 Eight, seven, and four.
01:04 Four draws, running out of Colombia.
01:09 - And I was talking to Munera yesterday.
01:11 He mentioned that he also fought in MMA.
01:14 - He looks like an MMA fighter.
01:15 I mean, I don't like to judge a book by its cover.
01:18 He's tatted up.
01:19 He looks like he spent some time in a cage,
01:21 and he has spent some time in a cage.
01:22 Let's talk about Arnold Gonzalez.
01:24 It is a fighter with great promise, undefeated,
01:28 fighting here out of New York City.
01:30 Brings a lot of fans with him.
01:32 What makes him great, Henry?
01:33 - Oh, listen, that kid has also an amateur pedigree.
01:36 He was a 2015 Golden Glove finalist, national champion.
01:41 And this kid, you know, he's the real deal.
01:44 He's got quite some power.
01:46 And obviously, as you can hear, he has the following.
01:50 - Tell you what, I love hometown fights.
01:53 I don't know if the fighters like 'em,
01:55 but I love a nice, raucous New York City crowd
01:58 getting behind that guy.
01:59 And that's Arnold Gonzalez as he opens up a little bit,
02:02 touching the torso of Munera early on.
02:06 About halfway through round number one.
02:07 - As you can see, that this round's a little bit
02:10 more different than the last fight.
02:12 This is more of a feel-out round for both of these guys.
02:15 Slightly slower pace.
02:23 Good body shot by Arnold.
02:24 - Arnold comes through there, touching the body early.
02:28 Seems to be Gonzalez's game plan
02:30 in our first fight of the night, which was a banger.
02:33 Cuadrado and Yuri Anderhor probably fight of the night
02:35 so far, there's only been one fight,
02:36 so we're gonna give them fight of the night.
02:38 This is your feeling-out round.
02:39 This is your prototypical, let's get a feel for it.
02:42 As a trainer, which do you like to see
02:44 your fighter come out and do?
02:45 - I think for these circumstances that Arnold has
02:48 as a last minute opponent change, I think this is good.
02:50 You wanna see what your opponent has in store,
02:53 what he does well, what he doesn't do well,
02:55 so that way you can develop a game plan
02:57 as the fight progresses.
02:58 - Bernera told me yesterday that he was gonna try
03:18 to use his reach as his advantage against someone
03:21 who's smaller than him, like Arnold.
03:23 But he's not using the jab enough
03:26 to try to maintain that reach.
03:28 - Bernera changing at the end of round number one.
03:33 - What a way to close out the round.
03:39 - Gonzalez started slow, but he ended fast.
03:42 Round number one, appreciate everyone
03:43 that is watching with us right now
03:45 on the Boxing Insider YouTube page.
03:48 I see you Thunder Road, I see you Cynthia Conte.
03:51 Did a great job on the pre-fight show.
03:54 If you are watching, let me know where you are tuning in
03:59 from in the comment section.
04:01 I will shout you out.
04:02 We're here at Sony Hall in Midtown New York
04:06 on a hot summer night.
04:07 Just saw a great fight in the lightweight division
04:11 starting us off with Raymond Cardorado and Yuri Anduhar.
04:13 Now we see Arnold Gonzalez
04:17 with a slow start, but a good end.
04:20 - It was a very good end by Arnold Gonzalez.
04:22 And again, Alejandro needs to use that jab,
04:25 that length a little bit more
04:26 if he wants to keep the shorter fighter away from him.
04:29 Arnold Gonzalez is doing a great job
04:31 in closing in the distance.
04:33 And that's mainly because Alejandro, he's not busy enough.
04:36 - Round two underway, we're scheduled for six.
04:42 Arnold Gonzalez in the white trunks.
04:44 Alejandro Munara, who took this fight
04:46 on short notice in the black trunks.
04:49 Henry brought up that MMA background.
04:50 I saw a little of that in the first round.
04:52 A little stiff, a little straight up.
04:55 You gotta feel like Gonzalez is looking
04:57 for some openings here as the rounds go on.
04:59 - Munara comes out throwing a little more punches
05:03 this round.
05:04 - Julian is watching from Vancouver.
05:08 We got people watching from Vegas, Harlem,
05:11 Clovis, California, St. Louis, Missouri.
05:15 Well, worldwide, Henry.
05:17 - That's amazing.
05:18 The beautiful thing about internet, eh?
05:21 - Thank you to everyone that is watching with us free
05:24 at a boxing inside of YouTube.
05:26 Gonzalez is really dedicating a lot of body work.
05:30 I love that.
05:32 - Arnold missed a tremendous overhand right there.
05:35 Had he landed that,
05:36 probably would have been a game changer.
05:38 - Trying to figure out who Munara looks like.
05:41 He looks like he's an MMA fighter.
05:44 - I think that's gonna come to me at some point,
05:45 but he's firing off a jab here
05:47 and he's looking to get back into this fight
05:51 'cause I thought he lost round one
05:52 and you had Gonzalez winning round one.
05:54 - Absolutely.
05:55 I thought Arnold did enough to pull that round off.
05:57 He was a little bit busier.
05:58 He closed the distance beautifully.
06:00 Just like that.
06:01 Beautiful body shot.
06:13 - I wonder if Gonzalez was preparing for a shorter fighter
06:16 'cause Munara clearly has the height advantage in this fight.
06:19 - There's definitely a huge height difference here.
06:22 But Arnold's handling it very well.
06:24 It doesn't seem to possess any sort of trouble
06:27 for him right now.
06:27 - Gonzalez starting to open up his offense a little bit.
06:32 Being selective, that's smart.
06:33 It's a six round fight, not a four round fight.
06:35 - Beautiful overhand right by Gonzalez.
06:37 - Right on the money.
06:39 Perfect counter right from Gonzalez.
06:41 (crowd shouting)
06:44 - Gonzalez's corner imploring his guy to push Munara back.
06:59 Doesn't fight well off his back foot.
07:01 - Based on what we've seen so far,
07:04 I would say they are right.
07:06 (crowd shouting)
07:08 - Munara's starting to get off there out of the clinch.
07:19 You're a shorter fighter, Henry.
07:23 You're going up against a tall guy here named Munara.
07:25 What's the game plan?
07:26 I've seen shorter fighters try to jab their way in,
07:29 double jab in.
07:30 How do you get inside on the tall fighter?
07:32 - I think one of the best ways that a short fighter
07:33 can get inside is by head movement.
07:35 Fainting, you know?
07:37 Giving them an illusion that a target is somewhere
07:39 and then making the miss and then using that opportunity
07:42 that they missed to close the distance.
07:44 - Oscar Gonzalez, excuse me,
07:46 Arnold Gonzalez doing another good job
07:48 of ending the round strong.
07:50 A great flurry at the end of round number two.
07:53 Take a look at some of the replays from round two.
07:56 As you see, Gonzalez shelling up,
07:59 but finding his way inside
08:01 and able to fire off some combinations.
08:05 Beautiful overhand right.
08:06 But it goes back to our last fight, Dan,
08:12 like Andujar, he came in here, despite being the opponent,
08:15 he came in here and showcased valiant effort to try to win.
08:19 Munara's another one here that's trying to put some effort
08:21 into actually trying to win the fight.
08:22 He's not here just to lay down.
08:24 - He's not here to lay down.
08:27 We're just seeing him fire off some more shots here.
08:30 (whistle blows)
08:32 - Andujar Gonzalez is winning the fight,
08:34 but he's not throwing a lot of punches.
08:36 There are opportunities for Munara to fire off that jab
08:39 as the taller opponent.
08:41 Easier said than done as I'm sitting here in a suit.
08:44 But I would like to see that from Munara
08:46 if he wants to win this fight.
08:48 - There he goes, I think he heard you.
08:51 - Round three, Arnold Gonzalez
08:53 in the white and gold trunks.
08:55 Alejandro Munara in the black trunks.
08:58 Dan Canovio, Henry De Leon on the call.
09:02 (crowd shouting)
09:04 Wow, what a right hand by Munara.
09:06 - I understand to find the range.
09:10 See this, I ask you now about a short fighter
09:12 fighting a tall fighter, how about a long, rangy fighter?
09:15 Too many times I'm watching boxing,
09:16 I see a guy with a clear reach advantage not using it.
09:20 Looks like Munara is using it here.
09:22 - Well, I think it's a little trickier with Munara.
09:25 For instance, he's a little flat foot,
09:26 though he is long, he is the taller fighter,
09:28 and therefore should be using the reach.
09:29 He wants to also generate power,
09:31 so he doesn't want to move around too much.
09:33 He kind of wants to keep Arnold
09:34 right at the end of his range.
09:36 Good combination by Arnold.
09:41 - Gonzalez is very poised.
09:44 Very selective.
09:46 Using that shoulder roll defense.
09:50 Letting Munara get off a little bit,
09:53 but none of those shots are really connecting from Munara.
09:57 (crowd yelling)
09:59 - Oh, another right hand lands by Munara.
10:03 I think Arnold has to respond with something back
10:09 because Munara's starting to seem like
10:11 he's getting a little more comfortable in there,
10:12 a little more confident.
10:14 - They like to see Gonzalez be a little busier.
10:18 (crowd yelling)
10:21 - Yeah, Munara came out this round
10:34 doing a lot better with that jab.
10:36 He's managed to create some openness for that right hand.
10:39 Keeping Arnold right at bay.
10:48 (crowd yelling)
10:49 - Big shot there from Gonzalez, finds the mark.
10:52 He hammers down to the body.
10:53 - Nice little hook by Munara.
11:00 Another overhand right by Gonzalez.
11:06 Wow, a nice beautiful left hook.
11:14 - Hey, but listen, he told me he wanted Gonzalez
11:16 to open it up more, and he's doing that.
11:19 - As he hits the close in round three.
11:21 Corner wants him to let his hands go.
11:29 (crowd yelling)
11:34 (bell dings)
11:42 Another round ends with Arnold Gonzalez opening up.
11:48 And Alejandro Munara, three rounds to nothing
11:50 on your unofficial scorecard, right Henry?
11:52 - Well, I don't know, I'd say that round
11:53 was a little bit closer only because Arnold
11:55 didn't let his hands go early in the round.
11:57 He closed out the round very well,
11:58 and that's probably what stays fresh in the judges' minds.
12:02 But before that, I felt that Munara
12:04 was a little bit more dominant earlier in the round.
12:07 - Entering round four here, we're scheduled for six.
12:17 (crowd yelling)
12:19 Sonny Hall back to the gills, we love to see it.
12:22 Boxing back in New York City.
12:25 Boxing Insider bringing us free boxing
12:28 in a fight night here in New York City.
12:30 Old school, you see people eating dinner,
12:33 booze, drinking.
12:35 It's a great atmosphere here, the disco ball.
12:37 You ever fight under a disco ball, Henry?
12:39 - Never under a disco ball, no. (laughs)
12:42 (bell dings)
12:45 - Round four underway, Arnold Gonzalez, white trunks,
12:49 Alejandro Munara, black trunks.
12:51 Got Gonzalez up three rounds to nothing
12:55 on our unofficial scorecard.
12:56 Munara had a really good round three, his best of the fight.
13:00 See if he can use that momentum here in round four.
13:14 - The corner of Gonzalez is really imploring Munara
13:17 to walk him down, but that's not something
13:19 we've seen so far.
13:21 You're a trainer.
13:22 When you're shouting out instructions
13:24 and you don't see a fighter doing that,
13:26 you getting frustrated as a trainer?
13:28 - I mean, you can get frustrated,
13:30 but it's also important to understand that
13:32 perhaps the fighters see something in there that we don't.
13:34 It's very easy for us on the outside to be like,
13:36 apply pressure, apply pressure, but for all we know,
13:39 he got caught with the right hand in the last round.
13:41 He probably understands that Munara has some power
13:43 and therefore he just, you know,
13:44 is a bit more cautious about that.
13:46 - I do think he's winning the fight.
13:50 I do think he's winning these rounds.
13:52 He is starting to pick up the volume a little bit here.
13:55 Now we're talking about Gonzalez.
13:57 - Good right hand by Gonzalez.
13:59 Beautiful right on cue.
14:05 - What you saw there was Munara come in
14:09 with that kind of a lazy jab left hook
14:11 and Gonzalez timed it perfectly
14:13 with a right hand over the top.
14:15 And he comes back with a check left hook.
14:17 Gonzalez really starting to find his rhythm here.
14:20 - And this is a better round for him than the last one.
14:22 A lot busier.
14:23 Whatever confidence Munara had in that last round,
14:30 he's definitely taken it,
14:32 Gonzalez has definitely taken it for him today,
14:33 in this round.
14:34 - Yeah, I agree.
14:35 Holden is in the stance in the center of the ring.
14:41 - More right hands to the top.
14:42 - Holden is positioned.
14:43 That is Gonzalez holding his ground.
14:46 I got it on the third try.
14:47 Holding his ground, that's what I was looking for.
14:49 That's Gonzalez.
14:50 - He's coming with that right hand again by Munara.
15:06 - 30 seconds here in round number four.
15:09 Oh, Gonzalez with a pretty good round here.
15:12 Letting his hands fly a little more.
15:13 Munara still game, still tough.
15:15 Especially considering he's taking this fight
15:18 on short notice.
15:19 You gotta wonder where his gas tank's at.
15:21 You gotta wonder if he was in the gym.
15:23 He is in shape.
15:24 But it's two different shapes, right?
15:26 Fight shape and just regular shape.
15:28 - Absolutely.
15:29 - I'm in zero shape.
15:38 - Will Gonzalez end this round with a flurry?
15:39 He's ended every round with one.
15:41 Nice right hand.
15:42 And another one for the W.
15:45 - Arnold's having some success with that right hand.
15:49 I would like to see him set it up
15:50 a little bit more with that jab.
15:52 - Take a look at some of the work here in round four.
15:56 A good round for, there is the best punch of the round.
15:59 Great job by our truck production staff
16:01 doing a wonderful job there as Gonzalez
16:04 landed that beautiful counter right.
16:06 (upbeat music)
16:08 - This is a great venue for fights.
16:16 No matter where you stand, where you sit,
16:18 you have perfect view of the ring.
16:19 - Very intimate here.
16:20 It's a small ring, it's a small room.
16:22 I grew up coming to club shows, man.
16:25 Broadway boxing was my thing.
16:27 Lou DiBella, started in 2001.
16:30 I saw so many future champions, so many legends.
16:35 I remember I came to a Broadway boxing once
16:38 and it was a snowy February afternoon
16:40 and Adriana Lima, model, superstar, just walked right in.
16:45 - That's fascinating.
16:46 - I was with one of my boys and I was like,
16:48 dude, that's Adriana Lima.
16:49 So you never know who's gonna walk into a Broadway boxing
16:53 right here in the heart of New York City.
16:55 Round five of six.
17:02 Dan Canovia.
17:03 - Beautiful right hand.
17:04 - Leon on the call as Gonzalez lands a beautiful right.
17:07 Minera came out of this round showing off that jab.
17:09 I'd like to see more of that jab from Minera.
17:12 He's got the height advantage, he's got the reach advantage.
17:15 - I would really like to see Arnold setting up
17:17 that overhand right with that jab a little bit more.
17:18 He should be changing levels up and down,
17:20 up and down to set that overhand right.
17:22 It's working perfectly for him.
17:23 He just has to kind of give it a different look.
17:33 - Here's a quick fun fact about Arnold Gonzalez.
17:36 The way he met Larry Goldberg,
17:38 the promoter of Boxing Insider, was through a sparring match.
17:41 - What's that?
17:42 - Arnold Gonzalez met Larry Goldberg
17:44 through a sparring match.
17:45 - Oh, elaborate please.
17:46 - They both sparred each other.
17:48 - Larry Goldberg sparred Arnold Gonzalez.
17:50 - Absolutely.
17:50 - Wow.
17:51 - At the Mendes Boxing Gym.
17:52 - I know Larry Goldberg, he's done everything.
17:55 I've seen that guy in almost every boxing arena.
17:58 I did not know that he's actually stepped foot in the ring.
18:01 - He has.
18:03 - We want to see Larry get in the ring after
18:06 and challenge the winner of this fight.
18:08 What do you think?
18:09 - I think that's fair.
18:10 - I've never seen Lou DiBella get in the ring.
18:14 I see him here, I see Lou.
18:15 He's over there chatting someone's ear off.
18:19 Hall of Famer Lou DiBella.
18:22 (crowd shouting)
18:25 - A lot of these rounds are looking a lot the same
18:37 for Arnold Gonzalez.
18:37 He's winning the rounds slow and steady
18:41 wins the race for Gonzalez.
18:42 He's got that counter right.
18:44 He is starting to walk back in an era.
18:45 - He's definitely slowed down.
18:48 I feel like he's throwing just enough punches
18:50 to stay right ahead of the scorecards.
18:52 - You know what I mean?
18:54 It's not like if you take a look at the punch volume
18:56 if it was on a graph, I think it would be pretty steady.
18:58 Around 45, 50 punches to the naked eye.
19:01 Nothing wrong with that, you can win your fights.
19:10 - Absolutely not.
19:11 Listen, if it's working for you, great.
19:13 (crowd shouting)
19:16 - You can see the mirror starting to breathe
19:39 out of his mouth.
19:40 (crowd shouting)
19:42 - Gives him a little shove there at the end.
19:48 Yeah, Minero's a little gassed.
19:49 I'll give him that.
19:50 He's heading into the sixth round.
19:51 Took the fight on short notice.
19:53 I'm gonna head to the sixth and final round.
19:56 You're watching Broadway Boxing
19:58 brought to you by Boxing Insider.
20:00 - Valiant effort by Minero,
20:02 despite it being a one week notice fight.
20:04 Gonzalez should invest a little bit more to the body.
20:08 (crowd shouting)
20:10 - And he sets up that overhand right, I believe.
20:13 - Take a look at the chat.
20:14 Chris A. says, "Minero not just here for a paycheck."
20:18 Free with that.
20:19 Manchu Green said, "Legs almost gone."
20:21 This is the sixth round.
20:23 Yes, Manchu Green, this is the sixth round fight.
20:25 We'll see if Gonzalez will step on the gas pedal here
20:27 in the sixth round, or will he coast to what should be
20:32 unanimous decision victory.
20:35 (crowd shouting)
20:37 (whistle blowing)
20:45 - Arnold's trainer, Julia Choi,
20:50 asking Arnold for a strong finish.
20:53 Sixth and final round here from Sony Hall.
20:59 Adrian, excuse me, Arnold Gonzalez
21:03 in the white and yellow trunks.
21:05 Alejandro Munera in the black trunks.
21:07 - Munera comes out aggressive in round six.
21:10 (crowd shouting)
21:13 - Still coming your way, our main event of the night.
21:31 Kurt Scooby taking on Hammer and Hank Lundy.
21:34 Lundy has shared the ring with Ray Beltran,
21:36 Terence Crawford, Victor Postal.
21:39 A long, extensive career.
21:42 Kurt Scooby, 11 and 0 as Munera tags Gonzalez
21:47 with a right hand.
21:48 That's our main event, still coming up.
21:51 We're watching a good one here.
21:54 Hometown kid, Arnold Gonzalez going for a shutout win.
21:58 (crowd shouting)
22:01 I would like to see a little bit more effort
22:16 from Arnold to try to close out the show.
22:19 - A right, a left, another right hand.
22:25 The crowd is coming to a boil.
22:28 They sense the finish here.
22:29 - I think he might've heard me, Dan.
22:31 - Just got him heard, the legs are gone.
22:33 He entered the round with tired legs, Munera.
22:36 Gonzalez is sensing it.
22:37 He's sensing blood in the water here.
22:38 He's gonna go for the knockout with a minute left.
22:41 (crowd shouting)
22:53 Corner of Gonzalez and Boringham.
22:55 What are you waiting for?
22:56 A minute left, step on the gas.
22:58 The corner's screaming.
23:13 They wanna see a knockout.
23:15 They want this place to erupt.
23:23 - Corner's screaming, let it go,
23:24 and he's not talking about the movie Frozen.
23:26 - 20 seconds left, round number six.
23:37 - Munera very tough, very game.
23:39 Gonna see that final bell.
23:41 Short notice, that's all you can ask for.
23:44 Not gonna come out victorious,
23:47 but he did see the final bell.
23:49 Gonzalez stepped on the gas over the final two rounds.
23:53 - Great fight, great fight.
23:56 - Good fight.
23:57 Good solid rounds for Gonzalez,
23:58 who needs them in his career.
24:01 He's gonna move to 12 and 0.
24:02 - Absolutely.
24:05 Again, opponents like Munera,
24:07 for prospects like Arnold Gonzalez,
24:09 I think it's necessary because it shows you
24:12 where you're at, you know?
24:14 - A measuring stick.
24:15 - Basically, you don't wanna go in there
24:17 with a guy that you can easily knock out
24:18 and then, okay, you move on to the next one
24:20 'cause you don't really learn much from that.
24:22 You want someone that's gonna challenge you and test you.
24:27 - Judges tabulating their scorecards.
24:38 I would be shocked if this wasn't a unanimous decision.
24:40 Arnold Gonzalez should move to 12 and 0.
24:43 Munera, very game.
24:46 All the way from Medellin, Colombia.
24:48 Stick with us, folks.
24:51 Our main event is upcoming.
24:52 Kurt Scooby, 11 and 0 with nine knockouts.
24:55 Just signed with the Bella Enter team
24:56 and he's taking on Hammer and Hank Lundy.
24:58 We got Brian Sabayo in action.
25:01 We have an all New York matchup coming up next
25:04 between Terrell Bostic and Matthew Gonzalez.
25:07 Appreciate everyone that is in the chat
25:08 watching for free.
25:10 It's a boxing insider YouTube page.
25:13 I'm gonna run into the ring.
25:14 I'm gonna figure out who's gonna win this fight.
25:16 I'm gonna interview that person.
25:18 It's probably gonna be Arnold Gonzalez.
25:44 When I spoke to Arnold yesterday,
25:46 before the weigh-ins,
25:47 he had predicted that he was gonna stop Munera
25:49 in the fourth round.
25:51 Unfortunately, it didn't seem to play out that way for him.
25:53 But I think he benefited more from going the distance
25:56 with someone like Munera.

26:54 (crowd cheering)
