It is Ferrari's First On-Road XX Supercar. | New Ferrari SF90XX 2024

1,016 hp SF90 XX Stradale and Spider gain 30 hp and a bunch of extra downforce

Ferrari's XX badge has been around since the Enzo-based FXX was introduced in 2005, but it's always been reserved for extreme track special events. Now the SF90 XX hits the streets for the first time with the launch of the Stradale and Spider.

Notable for being the first Ferrari road cars to feature a motorsport style fixed rear wing since the F50 in 1995, the XX twins provide major improvements in downforce. Air flowing under the car, through ducts in the hood and over the new rear wing, plus the still existing active wing, provides 1,169 lbs (530 kg) of downforce at 240 km/h. from 860 lbs (390 kg) at the same speed as the regular SF90 Stradale.

It's not just the screw air supports that give the XX a distinctive look. Ferrari says the headlights have a lower top profile, the rear body has been elongated in a 'longtail' racer style (I bet McLaren will love it), and the twin squirrel-shaped taillight units have been replaced with a horizontal light bar.

Downforce has been greatly increased, while overall weight has dropped by just 22 lbs (10 kg) compared to the stock SF in the lightest Assetto Fiorano specification to 3,439 lbs (1,560 kg) in the coupe. The savings come mostly from the engine (7.7 lbs / 3.5 kg) and the new carbon sports seats. Although they look like fixed scoops on the back, the elastic coating hides the separation of the two halves, a feature that will make them very comfortable for road use and more suitable for a wider range of riders. They're also 1.9 lb (1.3 kg) lighter than the one-piece seats available on the SF90.

Naturally, the 4.0-liter, three-engine hybrid V8 drivetrain caught the eye, receiving a 30 hp (30 hp) boost, increasing overall power from 986 hp (1,000 hp) to 1,016 hp (1,030 hp). The combustion engine gains a compression boost thanks to polished intake and exhaust tracts, as well as new pistons and a finely tuned combustion chamber shape, helping it increase from 769 hp (780 PS) to 786 hp (797 PS). And the two front engines and a single rear unit now produce 230 hp (230 PS) instead of 217 hp (220 PS).

Ferrari has yet to release a Fiorano lap time, choosing to keep this possibly landmark news for later. However, he says both versions of the SF90 XX can accelerate to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.3 seconds, compared to 2.5 seconds for a flat SF, and top out at 199 mph (320 km/h). But these numbers don't tell the whole story. The 3,660 lbs (1,660 kg) Spider's 221 lbs (100 kg) weight penalty means it took 6.7 seconds to reach 124 mph (200 km/h), two-tenths slower than the XX Stradale. There is no difference when it comes to electric driving range though. Both XX cars share the same 7.9 kWh battery and 16 miles (25 km) EV range as the regular SF.

The 799 Stradales are priced at €770,000 ($842,000) and the 599 Spiders are priced at €850,000 ($929,000), but don't bother c
