15:05 Now, there's going to be a lot of things that we're going
15:07 to get into things from what you need to perform this effect
15:11 what's included on the DVD to the routines themselves.
15:14 So without further ado, let's get into it and see how it
15:16 works.
15:17 All right, so if you're watching this that means you opened
15:30 up your DVD and you saw what's included with this project.
15:33 So we've included a double backer card just for your
15:37 convenience.
15:37 These are easily accessible.
15:39 You can find them all over.
15:40 I'm sure you have a bunch in your house.
15:41 If not, just take two cards stick them together and you
15:44 have a double backer for this trick.
15:45 It will not matter if it's double thickness or not or you
15:49 could split a card two cards and put them back to back but
15:53 you do have one just in case and you also are included with
15:58 these very nice custom stickers that we made with the warning
16:01 label for both the big big lighter and the small big lighter.
16:06 So your preference on what you're going to be using for
16:09 the effect.
16:10 My preference is the small but we have the smalls and the
16:13 bigs here and you can see the reveals on them and to switch
16:16 them up put them on different lighters.
16:17 You get eight of these puppies so you could use them for
16:21 a lot.
16:22 So that's what you get.
16:24 Let's see how they work into the routine.
16:26 Let's go.
16:27 All right, let's get into what you need for the effect and
16:42 how to prep it so you could be ready to go.
16:44 Once you set it up, you're good to go.
16:46 I always use a red deck of cards.
16:49 So the ones that I prefer that I have this set up for is
16:54 red crowns, but bicycles you probably want to use bicycle
16:57 for the first one because that's what you get with your
16:59 DVD bicycle is very popular, but you want red for the good
17:02 contrast for when you burn the card.
17:05 It gives it a nice feel to it because if you use, you know,
17:09 see a black card, I don't think the burn will show so you
17:12 need red deck of cards.
17:14 You need your double backers.
17:15 So in this case, I have my red red double backer that comes
17:20 included with the red crown.
17:21 So that's another good thing.
17:22 If you ran out of red crowns always come with this, but so
17:26 you need double backers.
17:27 So we'll use this one and to show you how to burn it.
17:31 You need a lighter so it could either be the big one or the
17:35 small one.
17:36 Now we'll get into the differences of which one to use later.
17:38 I'm going to use this.
17:39 I'm going to use the big one actually on camera just so you
17:41 could see it.
17:42 But for performances, I use the small one because it hides
17:46 under the card better and you could steal it in your hand
17:48 better, but that's for later.
17:50 Optional, you're going to need a magnet.
17:53 So I just have a little magnet here that I'm going to stick
17:56 in my back pocket for the lighter vanish.
17:58 You do not need this.
17:59 Sometimes I go out without a lighter and I'll show you how
18:02 to do the lighter vanish without that.
18:04 But any sort of magnet would do for the lighter vanish.
18:07 It gives it a nice cleaner vanish.
18:09 Rubber band and this is after you burn the card.
18:13 You're going to need to rubber band up the deck and keep it
18:15 there for a little bit.
18:16 You need your stickers which are already included and that's
18:20 about it.
18:21 Go ahead put your sticker on one of the lighters.
18:24 Okay, and just commit to memory which reveal is on there for
18:27 this case is seven of spades warning seven of spades.
18:31 So you have that right there.
18:33 And once you get all of those things together, let's take a
18:36 look at the next section and how to put it all into the starting
18:40 of the routine.
18:41 All right, burning the card.
18:54 It's pretty straightforward a few tips.
18:57 What I like to do is hold the card parallel to the floor and
19:03 come up with the lighter.
19:04 Now, you don't want to put the lighter right next to it because
19:08 it'll warp a quicker.
19:10 So what I like to do is light it and just come here and now
19:14 get closer just like this.
19:16 Okay.
19:18 And then you'll see that it starts to burn now.
19:22 It'll warp no matter which way you do it because you are
19:25 heating the card.
19:26 So just go ahead light it and I guess you could see it right
19:29 there being lit and it is nice because you can control the burn
19:34 you could have it subtle or you can really burn the whole card.
19:38 So let's go ahead and just burn it a little bit more.
19:40 Now, you don't want to go too crazy and this is sometimes why
19:42 a if you put it too close, it might show up on the other side.
19:48 So you want to be careful with that.
19:50 So sometimes testing it out with one card that is not your
19:55 double backer.
19:56 It might be a good idea.
19:57 If you do see that you're not you're burning it through the
20:00 card.
20:00 You might want to put two cards back to back for that purpose.
20:04 But so that's what you get.
20:05 Now it is a little bit warped here as you could see so we're
20:08 going to want to straighten that out easiest way to do that
20:11 is to stick it in your deck.
20:12 So I just stick it in my deck like this.
20:14 I rubber band it up.
20:16 So as tight as possible rubber band it up.
20:20 You could even place it in a deck of cards to put it in between
20:23 two books.
20:24 You can put it in under your table or couch or something your
20:29 TV.
20:30 I don't care what you do, but just try to get it flat and keep
20:32 it there for about 10-15 minutes.
20:34 Once it comes out it should be flat just like this with the
20:39 burn.
20:39 And then this is all you really need.
20:43 So get this and then you're lighter and let's get into the
20:48 routine.
21:04 Okay, let's get into the core routine.
21:05 Now.
21:06 This is the original arson routine that I've been doing for
21:09 many years in my lectures.
21:11 Also, you need the red deck of cards with the double backer
21:16 and the double backer with the burn mark face up just like this
21:21 with the burn mark up is going to be on the bottom.
21:24 So that's your setup.
21:24 That's all you need for this.
21:26 You also need your lighter and also I'm going to use a magnet
21:32 in my back pocket.
21:33 So I'm going to place this little magnet here in my back
21:36 right pocket just like this all the way near the bottom and
21:40 that's going to be used for the lighter vanish again.
21:41 You don't need this but I'm going to show you how to make
21:43 it really clean.
21:44 So let's take it from here.
21:47 A card is selected from the pack.
21:49 So it doesn't matter which one as long as it's not the bottom
21:51 one, of course, and in this case, let's use the ace of spades
21:55 ace of spades will be your selection.
21:58 Now you want to place the ace of spades or below the burn mark.
22:02 So easiest way to do it is to place it on top.
22:05 So everybody sees the card replace it on top and kick cut
22:08 just like that.
22:09 So then when the reveal happens the burn mark is here.
22:12 The second card down is the ace of spades.
22:15 Another way to do it is just to take the card kick cut it first
22:22 and say place it back in the middle.
22:23 So the spectator places it in the middle and then this gets
22:27 added on top.
22:27 So either case the burn mark then the card is the positioning
22:32 right there square everything up and that's your first step.
22:37 Okay, so in speed card is selected and just go ahead place
22:43 it back inside the center.
22:45 They place it back you say, okay, I'm going to leave it in
22:47 the center.
22:47 No funny controls and go ahead hold out your hand.
22:50 They hold out their hand.
22:52 And as you saw in the performance, I'm going to ask them
22:54 to put the other hand on top.
22:55 So they are sandwiching the deck just like that.
22:57 Now comes the lighter vanish.
22:59 Okay, you're going to make it seem like.
23:02 The lighter will vanish into the deck of cards.
23:05 Now the way to do that.
23:06 It's all about the timing.
23:08 I'm going to light the lighter just like this and come above
23:12 their hand and underneath their hand.
23:14 All right.
23:14 So a one little tip is that you want the cards to be a little
23:19 bit higher in their hand than normal.
23:22 So when you say hold out your hand, you're going to raise
23:24 your hand a little bit higher in because later on you're
23:28 going to want to lower their hand for the misdirection of
23:30 the lighter vanish.
23:31 So what I do is I say go ahead hold out your hand.
23:33 They place it here and I if it's not high enough, I might
23:37 lift it up without saying anything.
23:39 You just lift up their hand and then you're going to prepare
23:41 to light the lighter.
23:42 You light it on top.
23:44 You light it below now just as a warning.
23:46 You don't want to get too close because the flame the heat
23:49 does go up a little bit so it might burn them.
23:51 I've done this.
23:52 It's not pretty.
23:53 Excuse me.
23:55 So you want to keep it fairly when you go underneath their
23:58 hand, you don't want to keep it too close and you don't want
24:01 to keep it there for a long period of time.
24:03 I mean test it out on yourself.
24:04 Make sure you're not harming the spectator.
24:06 Obviously unless you want to that's up to you.
24:09 But from here you do this you do this.
24:13 Sometimes if I want to get close as I go underneath the
24:16 hand, I just let it go.
24:17 Okay.
24:18 Now here comes the lighter vanish.
24:20 I'm going to go ahead and with my left hand push their hand
24:25 down and I say hold it a little lower.
24:28 So I go underneath above underneath hold it a little lower
24:32 at this point.
24:33 My right hand is going to dip down and as you can see as it
24:37 dips down out of view the bottom of my Jean right here is
24:43 going to connect with the lighter and I come right back up.
24:48 So as you can see in the performance video as I light it
24:52 I see hold a little bit lower just this and just that you
24:55 don't want to try to stick it on you want to have your hand
24:58 a little bit open so that it just connects and then you could
25:02 come back up with the same.

26:23 your body so you can make it disappear from here, right?
26:27 And it just brings the heat off that your hand was just down
26:29 a second ago.
26:30 So light it come down boom make it disappear into the deck
26:36 and you say look the lighter actually jumped into the deck.
26:39 Look open up your hand and you take out the deck from their
26:43 hand. You're going to go through it just like this and you're
26:46 going to say look the lighter actually caused one card to
26:50 reveal itself and then you pause here just for a second you
26:53 pause at this situation with the burn mark the rest of the
26:57 cards and that will get a reaction first reaction, right?
27:01 Second reaction after the lighter vanish you come here and
27:04 you say look it actually burnt one card and now you're going
27:06 to cut all the cards just like this to the top.
27:10 So now the burn card is on top and the selection is underneath.
27:14 Now, this is where the double double backer plays in good.
27:17 You're going to do a double lift here since this is the
27:19 situation and so you could do any sort of double lift that
27:24 you want to show that the card is the selection but what I
27:27 like to do just to be sure because this either could be a
27:30 thick card if you stuck two cards back to back it could be
27:32 a little warped from your burning so you don't want to
27:35 take chances to do any sort of fancy double lift and you
27:37 might have the card split.
27:39 So what I like to do is pick it up just like this and kind
27:42 of look at it and as I look at it and I say do you remember
27:45 your card?
27:45 I look at it.
27:46 I'm not looking at anything really what I'm really doing
27:49 is getting a pinky break right now.
27:50 So I'm going to lift it up to show the burn mark and look
27:53 at the card just for a second.
27:54 I say do you remember your card and they say yes, what was
27:57 it as they save the card?
27:58 I'm going to turn over very tight double lift the ace as
28:03 soon as you do this, they're going to get a reaction because
28:05 that's the finale of the trick you found their card, correct?
28:08 Good.
28:09 Everything is wonderful as you see them relax.
28:12 You can also relax also you're going to relax and this is
28:15 where you're going to steal the lighter back out.
28:16 So you relax the end of the trick just happen.
28:19 You're going to come here and just pull the lighter off.
28:21 And have it in your hand.
28:24 Now, you're going to want to palm it.
28:25 It's not really a palm.
28:26 You're just hiding it because the mini one is so easy to
28:29 hide in your hand.
28:29 You could just literally do this with any sort of thing, but
28:32 it's more of a finger palm than anything.
28:34 You're going to do this and as you bring come back with
28:37 your hand, you're going to push off the ace the selection
28:40 just like this and load it underneath on top of your right
28:45 hand, which is holding the lighter.
28:47 So essentially you're placing the lighter underneath the
28:50 card. So from here, you're going to take it off the magnet.
28:54 Now, it's in your hand as everybody relaxes push this over
28:58 come here and table the deck.
29:00 Now for the final part you say hold on one more time.
29:04 Hold out your hand and actually just make a cup like this
29:06 so they can hold out both their hands one hand or even on
29:09 the table, but it's really nice in their hand from the burn
29:12 mark. You're going to say look if I pop it out you pop out
29:15 the burn mark and now the lighter comes out of what was
29:19 the burn mark and for the finale turn over this and show
29:24 that there's no more burn on the card.
29:26 You fixed it hand them the lighter hand them the card they
29:30 examine all that and once they examine all that it's very
29:33 easy for you to pick up this deck and palm this card off
29:36 to discard it.
29:37 So what I like to do is as they're doing this I just palm
29:40 it off into the my left hand and I place it in my back
29:43 pocket and now I have a clean deck that I could go into
29:47 any routine that I want.
29:48 So that is the core routine of arson.
29:53 Let's take a look at it one more time really fast.
29:56 Okay, so really fast burn card with the burn face up on
30:12 the bottom of the deck a card is selected from the pack this
30:15 case is the spades you say I'm going to place it into the
30:17 middle of the deck and the burn card goes on top of it place
30:22 it in between the spectators hands just like this and come
30:25 with the lighter like the lighter say I'm going to use the
30:27 burn.
30:28 To actually cause of how hold your hand a little bit lower
30:31 and as you do that you're going to ditch the magnet come on
30:35 up and disappear throw it into their hand you show you both
30:40 hands empty and say look lift up your hand.
30:42 I'm going to actually going to show you that the lighter
30:44 help me find your card.
30:46 Look one card actually burns itself just like that pick it
30:51 up. Take a look show him the burn mark as you get a break.
30:53 So you do remember your card.
30:55 Yeah, what was it?
30:56 He suspends as they say that relax go ahead take the lighter

31:52 is a lot of room for it.

31:55 Now if you want to use the big one, you still can I would
31:58 it fits perfectly.
32:00 Okay, it's almost meant to be the size of a playing card
32:03 and you still have some wiggle room here.
32:05 But what you don't want is to do this and have it at sort
32:09 of this level.
32:09 You want to make sure it's tilted down like this and now
32:11 there's no way if you could see it and you don't want to
32:13 perform for too many people to the left and right because
32:16 you could see this way in this way.
32:18 I mean, it's not that big of a deal.
32:20 They're not expecting it.
32:21 Anyway, I've gotten away with this all the time.
32:23 I've never been caught with this.
32:24 You can bend it here and pop it out right away.
32:26 So so that there's no chance for them to give heat on the
32:30 card. So you say look one more time.
32:33 Hold out your hand pop it out and now it's even a bigger
32:36 shock because it's the big lighter that disappears.
32:38 It's the big lighter that vanishes and reappears pops out
32:42 of the card so you can do it with this.
32:44 One more thing I want to say is that if you don't want to
32:48 do the magnet option or if you forgot your magnet at home
32:50 or just don't have one on you, it's very easy.
32:53 I've done this.
32:54 This is how I used to do it before the magnet is I literally
32:57 place the the lighter in my pocket.
33:00 Okay.
33:00 So as I relax see this is the beauty about the lighter
33:03 vanish and reappearance.
33:04 They're not expecting it either the first time or the second
33:07 time. So it's very easy to do this and say that you feel
33:10 it here.
33:10 Hold that your hand.
33:11 Hold your hand down a little bit more and I literally come
33:14 here and I just push throw it into my back pocket.
33:18 Sometimes I put my jeans a little bit lower.
33:21 Okay, so that the back pocket is just that much lower but
33:25 now jeans nowadays come with pockets that are a little bit
33:27 lower than your regular jeans.
33:29 So as you come here, I just come here and just toss it like
33:32 this and come right back up for the reappearance.
33:36 It's even easier because now the trick is over you found
33:39 their card and now the relaxation period is is as long as
33:43 you want to keep it so I could just literally come back take
33:46 it out of my pocket just like this and come up and load it
33:50 underneath the card.
33:51 So that's another way to do it.
33:52 That's the way I do it.
33:53 If I don't have the magnet because either either way you're
33:57 not expecting to vanish or the reappearance of the lighter.
34:00 I'd like the magnet just because you know, I carry it anyway,
34:04 and it's a cleaner vanish.
34:06 I think it's a little bit faster, but either way works.
34:08 I just wanted to give you the options.
34:24 Okay for the second routine is pretty much this the identical
34:28 to the first one, but we're going to take it a step further
34:30 by having a second card selected and finding it in the warning
34:33 label of the lighter.
34:35 So what I've done is I've taken off the warning label and
34:37 replaced it with the ones that are provided with you in this
34:40 case.
34:40 This is seven of spades in the warning label.
34:42 So the setup for that is since that says seven of spades you
34:45 need your force card for the second force as the seven of
34:48 spades that's going to go on the bottom of the pack and on
34:51 the bottom of that will be the double backer with the burn
34:54 mark face up.
34:55 Okay, so that is the setup right there.
34:58 Well, obviously if you have different warning labels with
35:01 different lighters, you want to make sure it matches.
35:03 Okay, so a card is selected say the ace of spades.
35:08 It goes into the middle of the pack.
35:09 It goes into the middle and the spectator puts their hands
35:13 just like that.
35:14 Use the lighter and you're going to do the lighter vanish
35:17 now just as you did before come up come down place it onto
35:20 the magnet and you disappear the lighter into the deck lift
35:25 up go ahead spread through the card and say look the lighter
35:28 actually burns one card and one card only from the pack.
35:33 What was your card get the break to the double and show
35:37 that it is this so now you're going to want to steal this
35:40 off as you take this and pop it out into the hands.
35:43 See about one more time.
35:44 Look, I'm going to actually do it like this pop the lighter
35:47 out.
35:47 So now there's no more burn mark on the back of the card.
35:50 And here's the lighter look we're going to try one more
35:52 time this time.
35:53 You're going to do it.
35:53 You do you do know how to use the lighter so I throw in
35:56 that phrase.
35:56 You do know how to use the lighter, right?
35:58 I mean, there's a warning label on and on it just in case
36:01 so you throw in that little thing because at the end of
36:03 the routine you're going to go back to the warning label
36:06 explaining to look at the warning label and the reveal is
36:10 going to be there.
36:10 So I say you do know how to use a lighter right as a little
36:13 joke.
36:13 It's okay.
36:15 The warning label is on there just in case haha it passes
36:18 they take the lighter in their hand and I'm going to say
36:20 okay.
36:21 Now you're going to select the card.
36:22 So now you're going to do a Hindu force of the bottom card.
36:26 Okay, the bottom card is the seven of spades your force
36:28 card and just as a little added tip.
36:31 These are the two cards that or rather this card is the one
36:35 you're going to get want to get rid of.
36:36 So what I like to do is just take a few cards two or three
36:39 or whatever just to put that near the bottom preferably
36:42 what you want to do is do two.
36:44 So I'm going to take two off for the first shuffle and I'll
36:47 keep shuffling this just like that.
36:49 They're going to say stop somewhere and you're going to
36:51 show them the bottom card.
36:52 So the seven of spades is the selection.
36:55 They keep that in mind and I'm going to place my hand this
36:59 time on it like this.
37:00 They're going to do the magic.
37:02 They're going to light the lighter boom boom and say look,
37:05 let's see if you can if you got it.
37:07 I'm going to spread through the cards and one by one spread
37:12 through it and they're going to see that there's no burn on
37:14 it.
37:14 Okay, obviously because the burn card is now on the bottom
37:17 of my pack.
37:18 So I'm going to go through it not find anything I could spread
37:21 it on the table not find anything and I'm going to say
37:24 well, you know, you know, maybe you didn't know how to use
37:28 the lighter.
37:28 Did I tell you about the warning label?
37:30 Yeah, right.
37:31 Go ahead read the warning label.
37:33 What does it say right there and it's in their hands and
37:36 they read the warning level 7 the warning label seven of
37:38 spades.
37:39 They freak out because that was the second selection and
37:43 now everything is completely examinable.
37:46 This is examinable and you could go ahead at this time after
37:49 spreading this just palm this card off into your back pocket.
37:54 And now not only is this clean they could check out the
37:56 lighter they could check the deck out and everything is good
37:59 to go into your other routines.
38:01 So that is preferably my ending to it.
38:05 I mean you might as well do it if you have this on there
38:08 anyway as a kicker kicker ending that I think is really
38:13 really cool.
38:13 So that is the second routine.
38:16 Okay, let's get into routine 3 this routine will remind you
38:35 most of the red hot mama or Chicago opener played in with
38:40 the burn ending with the warning label reveal.
38:43 So what you need is two identical cards one of them.
38:48 So we're going to get rid of the double backer for this
38:50 case and only burn one single card.
38:53 So in this case, I burnt the Jack of hearts like this and
38:57 I have a duplicate just like that of the jacket card without
39:00 the burn.
39:00 So you're going to need those two cards plus your force card
39:03 your last force card is going to be the third card selected
39:07 and this is will match the lighter.
39:08 So my lighter says seven of spades on it.
39:11 So I take the seven of spades and those are my three cards
39:14 the seven of spades goes on top of the deck.
39:17 Okay, seven on top force card on top with the two duplicate
39:21 cards onto the bottom.
39:22 Now you want to make sure that the one with the burn goes
39:25 all the way to the bottom.
39:26 So you have the one with the burn then this case of seven
39:30 of spades cards first Jack second Jack with the burn.
39:35 All right, and that's it.
39:37 That's all you need to know get your lighter out and let's
39:40 get into the routine a card is selected and this is a free
39:45 choice.
39:46 So the first one was a free choice to a spade to say for
39:49 this case, you're going to do the exact same thing and the
39:52 routine will be almost as if you know, Red Hot Mama Chicago
39:55 opener, you know this routine already.
39:57 We're going to get rid of the lighter vanish also for this
39:59 and just substitute it in with a change.
40:02 So two of spades get put gets put back into the middle.
40:05 Of course this goes on top just like this and I'm going to
40:08 hold it just like that and they are holding the lighter the
40:11 whole time.
40:11 This is what's going to make this powerful because from the
40:13 very beginning you could throw in that line about you do know
40:16 how to use a lighter right?
40:17 Well, it's got the warning label on it.
40:18 So you should be fine.
40:19 They light it.
40:21 They do all what they have to do using it as a magic wand sort
40:25 of and you go through the pack and show that the first card
40:29 reveals itself.
40:30 It's a burnt now.
40:31 You're going to cut it to the top show it again get your break
40:34 to make it very easy to do the double lift and show that the
40:37 burn card is the two of spades now instead of doing lighter
40:41 vanish and reappearance and pushing this card over you can't
40:43 do that because that's not a double backer anymore.
40:45 So you're going to return the double back over and place this
40:49 card onto the table.
40:50 Now, of course you did a double now.
40:52 This card is the next force card the Jack of Hearts Jack of
40:55 Hearts is now on the bottom of the pack.
40:57 So they're still holding the lighter at this point.
40:59 You're going to do a Hindu shuffle.
41:01 Now.
41:01 Here's the one thing to remember about the Hindu shuffle.
41:03 You want to force the third card the seven of spades for the
41:06 final reveal and the seven of spades is this at this point is
41:09 the second card on top.
41:11 So what do you do is you're going to Hindu shuffle and I just
41:15 get a break just like that a thumb a sideways thumb break.
41:18 I'm going to riffle up and get two cards like that to take two
41:22 off the top for the first part of the Hindu shuffle.
41:25 So I just do this two cards.
41:27 I'm going to take off two and continue to shuffle the pack
41:30 until they say stop they say stop at a point and show them
41:34 the fourth card of the Jack of Hearts Jack of Hearts will go
41:37 into the middle or try it again.
41:38 They do the lighter they light it using it as a magic wand.
41:43 Show that no card has burnt.
41:46 Okay, almost as if you were to show the there's no red card
41:49 in the in the red hot mama sequence.
41:51 No red card.
41:52 No burn card this time.
41:53 Do you see a burn card?
41:55 Well, there's yeah the burn card in your hand or on the table
41:57 and then they go no way they turn this over and this is a
42:01 second revelation.
42:02 This is their second card.
42:04 Their first card turned into the second card you say no.
42:07 Okay, let's try it one more time and this is for the third
42:10 phase your third force card is on the bottom the seven of
42:14 spades and now just do another Hindu shuffle or whatever force
42:18 you want to do that would take it from the bottom of the pack
42:21 show them the seven of spades and say one more time this time
42:24 in your hand.
42:25 It's going to happen.
42:26 So I'm holding on to the Jack.
42:28 This is important.
42:29 You're going to tell them this words that it's going to happen
42:31 in your hand this time.
42:32 So I hold on to the Jack and I hold it face up this time.
42:35 They light it.
42:36 Of course nothing happens and I say oh wait a second.

42:41 Maybe you don't know how to use the lighter correctly.

42:53 spades and that is the big kicker ending to this effect
42:56 right now the burn for the first card this the burn changes
43:01 the card changes while it was faced down and now in their
43:04 hands the warning label reveals the third card.
43:08 Okay, so that it all put together is the red hot mama version
43:11 as close as possible to that integrating the arson sort of
43:15 principle.
43:16 So there you have it the third routine.
