06:04 I wanna thank you for buying the DVD.
06:07 In this DVD, I'm gonna cover usage of the ITR,
06:10 how to float several different items.
06:12 You'll get some bonus tips in here.
06:14 You'll learn how to maintain the ITR,
06:16 how to hook it up, how to take it apart if necessary.
06:19 Pretty much learn everything you need to know about the ITR.
06:23 So if you're ready, let's get started.
06:30 All right, so on the table, you'll see several ITRs here.
06:34 Just wanna show you a couple of ITRs
06:36 when they first came out.
06:37 Now the ITR was invented by James George
06:39 way back in the days there.
06:41 This was the original ITR.
06:42 This was a huge one made for stage.
06:45 I used to actually use this for closeup.
06:47 It's pretty big.
06:48 There's the wax, there's the ball coming in and out.
06:51 Of course, you're not gonna be using this one.
06:53 They started to modify them.
06:55 This became the micro ITR.
06:57 It's a little smaller, obviously about half the size,
06:59 a little thinner on the tube there.
07:03 This one here is called the super micro ITR.
07:06 You'll also see these have safety pins
07:08 and they're used to fasten to the inside of your jacket
07:10 or under your pocket or inside your shirt.
07:13 A super micro ITR.
07:14 And then of course, they came out
07:16 with the super universal boss ITR,
07:19 which has an alligator clip.
07:21 So you can pretty much attach it anywhere you like.
07:25 Very small, very stealth, very nice,
07:28 easy to maintain.
07:30 We'll go over that in a minute.
07:31 Over here, a couple of tools used to fix an ITR.
07:35 A safety pin or a needle can always be used
07:37 to work the thread out.
07:39 A crochet needle, you're definitely gonna need
07:41 to fix the ITR, to pull the rubber bands through the ITR.
07:44 Okay, you can makeshift one with a paper clip.
07:47 I'll go over that later.
07:48 And also different types of waxes that you need
07:51 to place on the end of the thread of your ITR.
07:54 So there's different kinds of waxes.
07:56 You can even go, and I'll show you later on
07:58 how to get some impromptu wax at Rite Aid or at CVS.
08:01 Knowing all this, let's dive into hooking up the ITR.

08:08 Okay, now that you know about all the ITRs,
08:12 of course the boss is the one we're gonna be using.
08:14 So this is the one I'll be talking about
08:16 for the remainder of the DVD.
08:18 Now, the boss, of course this is the one
08:20 with the alligator clip,
08:21 the one you receive inside the DVD package.
08:23 Let's talk about placement on the ITR.
08:26 If you're wearing a jacket, for example,
08:28 you have to open up your jacket.
08:30 And if you're gonna wear a t-shirt or something
08:32 underneath and just a jacket, open up your jacket.
08:35 If it has a pocket, you're golden.
08:37 Because all you really need to do
08:39 is take that alligator clip facing downward
08:41 and clip it to the inside jacket pocket.
08:43 Make sure that the wax is facing out of your jacket,
08:46 not back in.
08:47 Because then that wax will have to go in and around
08:49 your ITR, causing a little friction,
08:51 and you might break your thread.
08:54 We'll talk about positioning a thread later in the DVD,
08:56 how to make the wax or the little ball
08:59 come out of either side of the ITR,
09:01 since there are two holes that it can come out of.
09:03 My favorite positioning, since I always wear
09:05 a button-down t-shirt, or I mean a button-down shirt
09:08 with a t-shirt underneath,
09:09 is right inside between the two holes.
09:12 So if we can get a close-up here.
09:14 So first thing you wanna do when you place your ITR
09:18 is figure out which two buttonholes
09:21 it's going to go in between.
09:23 I like to get a spot about center of my chest area.
09:26 And for example, these two buttonholes are perfect,
09:28 so I'll go ahead and unbutton these two.
09:31 You'll notice underneath my button-down shirt
09:34 I have a black t-shirt, or any shirt is fine.
09:37 This is where I'm going to clip the boss.
09:40 So I take the boss, I try to figure out
09:43 exactly where in between my two buttonholes
09:45 would be, right around here.
09:46 So I go in about maybe an inch or so
09:48 into my shirt area, and I gather up some of the fabric
09:52 and pinch it, and I make sure that the alligator clip
09:55 is coming in here on an up angle.
09:57 You see that?
09:58 I'm coming up onto the fabric and pinching right on.
10:01 You'll notice now the thread is coming
10:04 outside of my buttonholes.
10:05 You see that?
10:06 It's threaded so it's positioned outside.
10:08 It goes straight out.
10:09 Okay, I'm going to go ahead and re-button my shirt,
10:13 like so, and this completely conceals the ITR
10:16 inside your shirt.
10:17 This is my favorite method.
10:18 You'll see you don't see anything at all.
10:20 If you need to retrieve that wax,
10:21 now all you need to do is take your right hand,
10:24 in this case, first finger and thumb,
10:26 and just reach right inside, and you'll feel,
10:28 I don't know if you can see it, it's right inside there.
10:30 It's right there.
10:31 You're going to reach inside and grab that little ball
10:32 of wax and just pull it right out of your shirt.
10:34 There it is.
10:35 Then you'll hook it up, and when it goes back in,
10:37 you just release from here, and it goes right back inside,
10:40 and it's ready to be accessed at any point.
10:43 And that is the hookup.

10:50 Okay, now that we have the ITR placed where we want it,
10:54 I'm going to go ahead and show you the hookup.
10:56 Now, the hookup that I'm about to show you
10:58 pretty much is the same exact hookup you're going to use
11:00 to float a ring, to float a coin, to float a bottle cap.
11:05 So let me go ahead and show you that.
11:07 Now, remember, the ITR is inside your shirt.
11:10 What you're going to have to do is reach into your shirt
11:12 and grab that little ball of wax.
11:14 You're going to extend it about an arm's length
11:17 with your right hand.
11:18 You're going to pull about an arm's length out,
11:20 maybe, you know, so much.
11:21 Then with your left hand, about your middle finger
11:23 or first finger, it really doesn't matter,
11:25 whatever's comfortable for you,
11:27 you're going to grab hold of the invisible thread
11:29 and hike it right up over your ear.
11:32 So in theory, it's going to come out of your chest area,
11:35 over your ear, and back over to your right hand.
11:38 Now, since you won't be able to see
11:39 the invisible thread right now,
11:40 I'm going to go ahead and show it to you
11:42 with a white shoelace, so you can actually see
11:44 what the hookup will actually look like.
11:49 All right, now I'm back with the white shoelace.
11:51 Let me show you the exact hookup.
11:53 This is very funny because this shoelace
11:55 is about the exact length of the ITR thread you'll be using.
11:58 So you'll see the actual hookup,
12:01 exactly how it should look.
12:03 Let's just assume that the white thread, the ITR,
12:07 is inside my shirt, which is where it is right now.
12:10 Here's the thread.
12:11 It's going to look like this.
12:12 It's going to look like this.
12:13 You're going to pull the thread out like so.
12:15 It's going to come out.
12:16 Now remember, with an ITR,
12:17 there's always going to be tension
12:18 on the thread pulling back.
12:20 So when you pull the thread out,
12:22 it doesn't just come and hang like this.
12:23 There will be some tension pulling back.
12:25 It's not a lot of tension,
12:26 but there will be tension pulling back.
12:28 So remember this, okay?
12:29 So you're going to pull out.
12:31 The tension, it'll be stiff.
12:32 It'll be right here.
12:33 You're going to use your left hand
12:35 to grab that thread and hike it up.
12:37 Now when you're pulling up,
12:38 remember, when you're pulling up,
12:40 you're going to be pulling more thread out of the ITR,
12:42 so it's still going to be pulling.
12:43 So just be aware of that and treat it
12:45 with some gentle care and some finesse.
12:48 You're going to pull out.
12:50 You're going to grab that thread,
12:51 and you're going to hike it right over your ear like so.
12:54 So this is what it should look like.
12:56 In reality, you see that?
12:58 Should be coming out of your shirt,
13:00 over your ear, and right over here.
13:02 This is where that little wax ball should be.
13:04 At this point, this is where you're going to hook up
13:06 and do your float.
13:07 When you're floating, this is what it should look like.
13:09 The thread's coming out of here,
13:10 and you're coming here,
13:11 and the floating object is going to be
13:12 right in this area right here.
13:15 So I'm going to remove the white shoelace
13:18 and show it to you now with the real ITR.
13:20 Okay, so go get yourself a coin,
13:27 hook up your ITR,
13:28 'cause I think we're ready to float something, all right?
13:31 In this case, we're going to be using a quarter,
13:32 standard quarter.
13:33 The size of the coin does matter.
13:36 A penny or a dime is going to be very small,
13:38 very lightweight.
13:39 You could get away with it,
13:40 but it will wobble a lot.
13:41 A quarter seems to be a perfect one.
13:43 A nickel, even perfect too,
13:44 because it has some substantial weight to it.
13:46 Now a half dollar is very heavy.
13:48 You can do it, I've done it,
13:50 I do it all the time,
13:51 but it will take some extra practice
13:52 to get the weight down, okay?
13:55 Now, let me show you the hookup again.
13:58 I reach into my shirt,
14:00 I grab the little ball of wax.
14:01 Again, you won't be able to see the invisible thread,
14:03 but remember the setup with the shoelace,
14:05 it's the same exact thing.
14:06 I'm pulling out.
14:08 At this point, when I'm actually asking for a quarter,
14:10 I ask somebody, I say, "Do you have a quarter?
14:11 "Sir, do you have a quarter?"
14:12 And if you notice, my arm extends.
14:14 I grab that little ball of wax,
14:16 and I say, "Do you have a quarter I can borrow?"
14:18 At this point, I'm already fully extended.
14:20 I'm actually doing it right now.
14:21 There is invisible thread going from my hand into my shirt.
14:24 I pull out, "Do you have a quarter?"
14:25 At this point, he's going to be reaching, or she,
14:27 will be reaching for a quarter.
14:29 That's the perfect moment
14:30 to look like you're fixing your hair.
14:31 And that's what I do.
14:32 I pull out, the middle finger grabs
14:34 that little piece of thread, I can feel it.
14:35 You bring it over, it looks like you're fixing your hair.
14:37 Now I'm all set.
14:38 I've got my ball of wax in my right hand,
14:40 the thread is going up over my ear,
14:42 and down over my left ear, by the way,
14:44 and going down into my shirt.
14:46 I take the coin from them,
14:48 and if you watch really closely,
14:50 it's all a matter of sticking the ball of wax
14:52 right to the back of the coin.
14:53 That's what it looks like, okay?
14:56 Stuck right to the back of the coin.
14:58 Now you can do that right in their face
14:59 while holding the coin towards them.
15:00 I could be sticking it on right in the back there.
15:02 That's where it is.
15:03 Once you stick it on the back,
15:05 you're going to bring it down,
15:07 and you're going to flip it so that the wax
15:08 is on the bottom side of the coin, okay?
15:11 There it is right there.
15:12 You're going to bring the coin down,
15:14 and until you feel the thread pulling on your ear,
15:17 you can actually feel a little bit of tension.
15:19 That's when you know you've got the thread
15:21 at the maximum point right here.
15:22 It's extended fully.
15:24 You're going to grab that, and with a center,
15:27 what you want to do is a flat spin.
15:28 You want to use your first finger and thumb of your,
15:31 first finger of your right hand and thumb of the left.
15:33 That's what I use.
15:34 And I give that coin a flat spin, just like this.
15:37 A nice flat spin.
15:37 Get the tension down, feel the thread pulling on your ear,
15:41 and you give it a spin, okay?
15:43 Now you have to trust it, okay?
15:45 There it is spinning right here.
15:47 There's a couple of cool moves you can do.
15:49 One of them is this.
15:50 It looks like I'm really going around it,
15:51 but if you look at it from the side,
15:52 I'm actually doing this.
15:53 I'm going under and then pulling away.
15:55 Under and then pulling away.
15:57 Under and pulling away, like this.
15:58 So I don't really touch the thread.
15:59 I really do go under, but I don't go around it on top.
16:02 All right, now I'm going to show you
16:09 how to get this coin to hover up into your hand
16:13 and catch it, okay?
16:14 So here's how it's going to work.
16:16 What you're going to do is you're going to have
16:18 that coin spinning in midair, like so, all right?
16:21 Again, it's going from here, up over my ear and down.
16:24 So what you want to do is make sure
16:26 you take your left hand here.
16:27 You're going to make sure that the thread
16:28 is on the inside of your thumb, okay?
16:30 Let me just grab that again.
16:31 Sorry about that.
16:32 Let me just get that spinning.
16:33 Again, just remember, there is an invisible string
16:37 going straight up, so I'm going to hook it like this.
16:39 I'm going to make sure that the quarter
16:40 is inside the palm here.
16:41 So the thread is going to drag on the outside,
16:43 on the inside of my thumb area here, see?
16:45 As I pull away from my body, it's going to create a pulley.
16:49 It's going to come right from here and down.
16:50 As I pull away from my body, like this,
16:52 the quarter is going to come up and into my hand.
16:55 You see that?
16:56 I push away.
16:57 Remember, the thread is right here.
16:58 It's coming up here.
16:59 It's pulling right here.
17:00 I catch it, okay?
17:02 Once I catch this here, I always make sure
17:05 that I position somebody to my right-hand side,
17:07 because remember, the thread is over my left ear.
17:09 So instead of me just hiking this thread off
17:12 and taking it off like this and getting caught,
17:14 what I like to do, let me just get it back on there again.
17:16 Now it's on there again.
17:18 What I like to do is when I get the quarter up into my hand,
17:20 I like to grab it up high, right about eye level.
17:23 I try to catch that coin.
17:24 Once I even catch it, I try to bring it up to about eye level
17:27 because I want the thread to be about head level here.
17:29 The thread is coming here and down,
17:30 and when I look to my right-hand side, like this,
17:34 look what happens.
17:35 The thread pops right off of my ear
17:37 because I'm looking to my right.
17:38 I turn my head, the thread pops off,
17:40 now I can easily bring that coin down to about chest level.
17:44 Now the thread is just coming from the back of the coin
17:46 to my shirt.
17:47 Look at this, I have a lot of freedom
17:48 with this coin right now.
17:49 At this point, I could use my thumb
17:51 to take the wax ball right off of that quarter
17:54 as I use my left hand to pick up the quarter,
17:57 hand it back to the spectator as the right hand
18:00 guides the little ball of wax back to my shirt
18:03 and lets it go right about this area.
18:04 You might see it go right back in, just like so.
18:08 Once the wax is back in your shirt,
18:09 you're ready to go off and float another thing.
18:12 So let me show you now how to float a fingering.

18:18 All right, so you got the coin down.
18:21 Now let's do something a little bit different.
18:23 Maybe a fingering.
18:24 How do you float a fingering?
18:25 It looks so incredible when you float a fingering.
18:28 It looks like there's no possible way
18:29 that could be anything attached to it.
18:31 You're looking through a hole right in the center.
18:33 Where could it be attached to?
18:34 This is what every magician always wants to learn,
18:36 so I'm tipping a very big secret by giving you this.
18:39 So I hope you take this and fly with it
18:41 and don't give it up, please.
18:42 This is one of my bread and butter moves.
18:44 The fingering, of course you need a fingering
18:46 that's like a wedding band style ring.
18:48 For example, something like this.
18:49 Something about the same weight all the way around.
18:52 A fingering like this with a big pendant
18:54 or insignia on the end here, it's off balance.
18:57 It will not work.
18:58 So find yourself a ring.
19:00 Always carry it on you, but if you have to borrow a ring,
19:02 make sure it's kind of a wedding band style ring.
19:04 It's got about the same weight all the way around.
19:06 Now the setup is going to be the same exact thing
19:08 as the coin.
19:09 You're going to reach into your shirt again, just like so.
19:11 You're going to grab that little ball of wax.
19:13 You're going to point at somebody.
19:15 Come over here, I want to show you something.
19:16 You're going to grab that thread.
19:18 You're going to hike it right over your ear.
19:20 Make believe like you're fixing your hair or whatnot.
19:23 And here is how you place it on the fingering.
19:26 So if you look right over here, you'll notice
19:28 that the wax ball is on the edge of the fingering.
19:31 It's literally sticking on the edge and coming straight
19:33 up over my ear and into my shirt.
19:36 Now it looks very funny right here, but when you give it
19:38 a good spin, because of the centrifugal force and the way
19:41 it's spinning on a flat spin so fast, it's going to spin
19:44 so fast you will not even notice that big ball of wax
19:47 on the end of the ring here.
19:48 So again, you get your attention.
19:49 You feel that this is about where it's all nice and taut.
19:52 You give it a good flat spin and check that out.
19:57 Take a look at that.
19:58 You can't even see that ball of wax around the rim
20:00 of that ring.
20:01 Look at that.
20:02 You can switch hands.
20:03 You can do your move, same exact thing as the coin.
20:06 You can even bring your other ring finger right under it,
20:09 balance it, take a deep breath.
20:11 When you hold your breath, you get that fingering back on.
20:14 You just hike it straight in there, straight up into it.
20:17 At this point, you're going to eyeball exactly where that wax ball is.
20:20 You're going to see it before they are because you know what to look for.
20:22 Once you see it, you're able to come over and grab that ring and cover it for a split
20:25 moment as you remove the ring off your finger.
20:28 Get it into position to remove.
20:29 At this point, you can take the wax off, hand off the ring, and then get rid of the thread
20:34 later, or you can choose to bring the ring up into midair, grab it in midair, do the
20:39 dismount when you look over and let it dismount, break the wax ball off, hand it off, clean
20:46 up, and you've just executed a perfect levitating ring.
20:53 Okay, well, you're probably wondering, "Well, what else can you float with the ITR?"
21:00 Pretty much anything that's small, like in the video you actually saw me float a bottle
21:06 cap also, which is exactly like the coin.
21:09 You're just going to take the wax, stick it to the top of the bottle cap, flip it over,
21:13 and execute the same exact spin.
21:15 It's going to float.
21:16 It's a little lightweight, so you've just got to watch it and just play with it.
21:18 You've figured out the weight.
21:19 I've actually floated things like a book of matches.
21:22 You can do the same thing.
21:23 Stick it on, turn it over, spin it.
21:25 I've done a small Bic lighter.
21:26 The small ones, not the big ones, but the small Bic lighter.
21:28 I've actually gotten away with it.
21:30 I've got a good spin.
21:31 So go out there.
21:32 Find a couple of things that you can float.
21:34 Also, remember, you can also move things on the table.
21:37 If you grab a spoon or a knife or something like that, you can stick the wax ball in it,
21:40 and it's just a matter of pulling your body and moving the item on the table, making people
21:44 think you truly have telekinesis.
21:47 I'm going to show you how to do that.

23:22 Now that you know how to float your stuff, let me show you how to jazz up the flotation,
23:27 so to speak.
23:28 Make it look a little better, with a little bit of flair, maybe a little acting.
23:32 Let me just get the setup.
23:33 I'm going to reach into my shirt, over the ear.
23:37 In this case, we'll be using the coin.
23:39 Here comes the setup.
23:40 I place the wax ball there.
23:41 I turn it over.
23:42 I give it a good spin.
23:44 Now it's floating.
23:45 What do you do from here?
23:46 Well, sometimes I like to make it look like it's going from hand to hand, just like this.
23:51 See that?
23:52 That looks pretty cool.
23:53 Looks like it's actually moving from one hand to the other, making its own little passage,
23:57 its own little way over.
23:58 You see that?
23:59 The way you do that is you're just really moving your body from side to side.
24:02 You're actually moving your head and your ear over to the right-hand side, and now bringing
24:07 your head and your ear over to the left-hand side.
24:09 It's as simple as that.
24:11 Another great thing to do, let me just get it spinning again.
24:15 Another good thing to do, of course, you already know this thing.
24:16 This is great.
24:18 Another one is to actually make a loop over the thread above it, come down and around
24:22 it.
24:23 It really looks like you're going around this floating item.
24:25 That looks pretty cool, too.
24:27 Make it come up, of course.
24:28 You saw that.
24:29 But by giving it a little bit of finger action underneath, it really looks like you're giving
24:32 it the power.
24:33 So you do this, you come over, give it a little wiggle like this.
24:37 It really truly looks magical.
24:38 If you do this, it almost looks like you're giving that quarter the power to float.
24:43 So those are just a little bit of extra tips.
24:46 So use them, abuse them, maybe even come up with some yourself.
24:52 Okay, now that you know how to float, how to hook it all up, here's a little tip, how
25:01 to release some tension on the thread.
25:03 Now remember, when you're floating a coin or a ring, you're spinning that thread.
25:07 You're spinning the item.
25:08 And what really is happening is that thread is getting twisted up, kind of like a shoelace
25:12 would.
25:13 It's getting twisted up like this.
25:14 And it keeps twisting and twisting and twisting until it gets so taut.
25:18 Then when this thread goes back into your ITR, it's going to get bundled up.
25:21 And this is how the ITR gets tangled or you won't be able to get the thread out so easy.
25:27 So every time I float a coin, not every time, every maybe six times I float a coin or a

26:03 Sometimes you're going to see a little small knot.

26:06 And the way you get that little knot out is I play with that little knot.
26:09 I just get that little knot and I start to move it and I start to play with it back and

26:13 I just released it right now.
26:14 I know you can't see it, but trust me, when you're playing with this, you're going to
26:17 see it.
26:18 You're going to play with that thread.
26:19 You're going to feel a small knot.
26:20 If you look up to the light or in a white area, you'll see that little knot, and you
26:24 can play with that knot back and forth with your finger, and it should loosen up and it
26:27 should undo itself.
26:29 Here's another knot.
26:30 Here's a big one.
26:31 You can't see it.
26:32 I know you can't see it, but right now I'm holding the thread right now between my fingers
26:35 here, my both hands.
26:36 There's a knot literally between my first finger and thumb.
26:39 I'm just going to play with it back and forth.
26:41 I'm just going to play with it until that knot comes right off.
26:45 Sometimes it doesn't come off.
26:46 Sometimes you'll have to snap the thread and redo it.
26:49 You see that knot is really bad right now because I've done it about 17 times for the
26:52 camera.
26:53 Okay, the knot just came off.
26:55 So there it is.
26:56 I completed it.
26:57 It's not spinning anymore.
26:58 I just relaxed my thread.
27:00 I put it back in.
27:01 And this is just a little tip for maintaining that thread and keeping it so it can last.
27:06 You can use it for a longer period of time.
27:08 It doesn't really break, and you won't have to replace it as many times.

27:17 Okay, just a quick another tip about your lighting situation.
27:23 A lot of people ask me, "Well, can you do it in broad daylight?
27:26 Can you do it here?
27:27 Can you do it in pitch darkness?"
27:28 Yes, you can do it in pitch darkness, by the way.
27:30 I've tried it.
27:31 Nobody can see anything.
27:32 All right?
27:33 In bright, bright daylight, sunlight, I mean, come on, you're really taking a chance.
27:37 I wouldn't do it in direct sunlight, especially if the sun is bouncing off of you to them.
27:42 If you are going to take the chance and do it outside, I recommend that your lighting
27:45 source always come from behind you towards the spectator.
27:49 Understand, if the thread is here, you want that light source to come from behind, so
27:53 they'll be catching a shadow of that light.
27:55 If you're the spectator right where you are right now, and I had my thread out, and the
27:59 sun was behind you, or the main light source, it could bounce off the thread, and the spectator
28:04 could see the glisten like a spider web.
28:07 That's what they would see, and that's how people get caught.
28:10 So just be aware of your lighting.
28:11 Make sure that you're in a shaded area, not complete darkness, but shaded area is good,
28:16 a bar, a nightclub, an apartment.
28:18 Get in the shade, or if you're outside in broad daylight, get in the shade.
28:21 Make sure you have some crazy background, too.
28:23 Your background is always good, a bookshelf or something crazy.
28:26 Your carpeting, too, because sometimes, remember, people are looking down, so the background
28:30 can help.
28:31 So backlighting helps.
28:32 Don't do it in direct sunlight, and think about it.
28:36 That should help.
28:37 Always remember where you are.
28:38 Just remember your lighting.

28:58 It still breaks on me every now and then.
28:59 You just got to learn how to fix it.
29:01 It's not a big thing.
29:02 It's just a very easy problem to solve.
29:05 Fixing the ITR.
29:06 Okay?
29:07 Here's what happens.
29:08 Your ITR is working, and at one point, you're going to snap your thread, and the thread
29:13 is going to shoot back into the ITR.
29:15 Okay.
29:16 No big deal.
29:17 Don't worry about it.
29:18 Walk off somewhere into the bathroom, into your bedroom, anywhere where there's nobody
29:22 watching.
29:23 Take off your ITR, and you'll notice that the ITR has two holes in the tube.
29:28 You want to suck on the hole that you want the thread to come out of.
29:33 Remember, you can wear it left and right.
29:36 Really look at which side you want that thread to come out of.
29:39 You're going to hold it, maybe up to a light source, so you can actually look inside and
29:43 see the inside tube where the thread is.
29:45 Sometimes you're able to spot where the thread, where the end of the thread is.
29:49 You bring it to your mouth, and you just quick inhales, really quick thrusts, like this.
29:53 You put your lips right against that hole, and you suck in really hard.
29:57 You look up to the light.
29:59 Most of the times, if you're very lucky, most of the times you will, about 70% of the time,
30:02 that little piece of thread, the end, will come right out of that hole.
30:06 It's going to come right out of that hole.
30:07 You grab that little piece of thread, and you pull it.
30:10 When you pull that little piece of thread, it's going to create tension on the rubber
30:12 bands.
30:13 It's going to pull, create the tension.
30:15 So what you want to do is you want to pull about maybe six inches or so, and break it
30:19 right there, hold onto it, put the wax ball back onto that end, roll it on there a few
30:24 times, knead it if you have to, and now it's a quick fix.
30:28 You want to break that six inches off, so that when your wax ball goes back to your
30:32 ITR, it will always come back flush, right against your ITR.
30:37 If your ITR ball of wax ever hangs like this off of your ITR, that's just because you don't
30:42 have enough tension.
30:43 Don't worry about it.
30:44 You grab it, pull about six inches again, get some tension, snap it at that point, and
30:49 reattach your wax.
30:51 Now what if you suck on the hole, and that thread just doesn't want to come out?
30:56 Okay, no big deal.
30:58 You get yourself maybe a safety pin or a small needle.
31:02 You open it up, and be very careful if you're using a safety pin or a needle.
31:05 This is very sharp.
31:07 Now you don't want to go in there with that needle and start scraping around, because
31:10 all you're going to do is rip up your thread inside there.
31:12 What you want to do with that little needle head, with that little pin head, is look inside,
31:17 and if you can actually see where that little thread has ended, you can go inside with that
31:20 needle head and try to work it out.
31:22 Now be very careful.
31:23 Remember, there's about 30 or 40 feet of thread on that inner wheel, on that inner tube.
31:27 So you don't want to mess that up.
31:29 You want to just kind of get the ends.
31:31 If you have to use maybe a crochet needle to push the inside out, maybe side back and
31:38 forth a little to try and work it out, you can.
31:41 Now if this doesn't work, then you're going to have to take apart the ITR.
31:45 So that's what we're going to show you now.
31:47 But remember, a quick fix is always really what it normally will take.
31:50 The second you break your ITR, try to run off in the next five minutes and fix it.
31:55 Don't wait overnight or in a week or so, because that's just going to give you a thread time
31:58 to tangle up in there.
31:59 Try to fix it as quick as you can and just get to it as quick as you can ASAP.
32:04 If not, we'll just take it apart, but I'm going to go through that and show you exactly
32:06 how to take apart the Boss.
32:11 Okay, so taking apart the ITR.
32:17 It's not as crazy as you think it is.
32:20 Here's how it works.
32:21 The ITR ball of wax is connected to the thread, which goes into the ITR, the inner core of
32:28 the ITR, which has about 30, 40 feet of thread on there.
32:32 Coming off the inner core, there's the inner core, are these rubber bands that go to the
32:37 inside of the cap here, and they're connected to a small disc that's a flat, foamy disc
32:43 that will hold them right against the ends of the ITR here.
32:47 Let me show you how to remove those discs.
32:50 First thing you're going to do is you're going to break your ITR.
32:52 You grab your ball of wax, you break it.
32:54 It's broken.
32:55 I'm going to let it go.
32:57 Now the string just went back inside.
32:59 All the string is inside the ITR right now, wrapping around that inner core.
33:04 You're going to pull the cap off, and by using a safety pin or a small needle, you go inside
33:10 and that little disc will have two little grooves on either side of the rubber bands.
33:15 Don't break the rubber band, but get the needle lodged right inside that groove and try to
33:19 angle yourself so you hit the outer end of the cap, so you guide yourself with the outer
33:24 end so you don't touch the rubber band at all.
33:26 Once the needle goes inside that groove, just kind of angle it out and you can actually
33:32 remove the inner core, that small disc.
33:35 Here it is right here.
33:37 And that's what it looks like.
33:39 That's what that little small disc looks like.
33:41 And it's basically holding the rubber bands.
33:44 You can see that.
33:45 They just go parallel, one on each side of that disc.
33:48 You remove the other side and do the same exact thing.
33:51 Take that needle, go right inside and remove that disc.
33:55 You're just going to work it out.
33:56 That's all you're going to do, work it right out.
33:58 Here it comes and there it is.
34:01 Now you've got the inner core right over here.
34:05 That's what it is, the inner core.
34:07 You have the two discs.
34:09 You've got your two caps and you've got your outer core.
34:13 Now let's get right into putting it all back together again.
34:22 So now that we've taken this ITR apart, you can see the inside workings of the ITR.
34:27 Right over here is the ball of wax that's going to be on the end of the thread.
34:32 Here are the two black caps that go on the end of the ITR.
34:36 Inside the two black caps holding the edges of the ends of these rubber bands here are
34:41 these little foam discs.
34:43 And each one of these little discs will have two grooves on each side where the rubber
34:47 band kind of drags along.
34:51 The inside guts of course, the rubber bands and the 30, 40 feet of thread wrapped around
34:56 the inner core right here.
34:58 And your outer core with the alligator clip on it and the two holes just like so.
35:04 So let's go ahead and put everything back together again.
35:07 Once you've broken the thread and it goes inside, you want to try to find the thread
35:11 on the end of this here, on the end of your inner core here.
35:16 And you're just going to play with it until you find that end.
35:18 I think I see it.
35:21 It's right over here.
35:22 Here it is.
35:23 Okay.
35:24 So I've gotten the end of the thread.
35:26 Here it is.
35:27 You find the end, which I've gotten here.
35:29 I pull some so I know it's fresh right off the roll there.
35:32 I break it so that it's just right on that, still right on that inner core.
35:37 It's wrapped right on that inner core.
35:39 Now what you're going to do now is you've got to get this tube inside this tube.
35:44 So how do you do that?
35:45 Well, that's where the use of this crochet needle comes into play.
35:49 You can use that small little hook on the end of that stick to pull the rubber bands
35:54 through the tube here.
35:56 Now if you have to makeshift one, you can make one out of a paper clip.
36:00 Just take a paper clip, straighten it all out, make a small little hook on the end there,
36:04 and that could do the same exact trick.
36:06 Just need something to pull the rubber bands through.
36:08 So here's what it would look like.
36:10 Take your crochet needle, get it right through your outer tube of the ITR, hook it right
36:15 around one of the pieces of rubber bands there, one of the ends, and you're going to guide
36:21 it right through.
36:22 You see that?
36:23 You're just going to guide it right through.
36:24 Now before it gets to the end all the way completely, you're going to place one of those
36:28 discs on this end so it doesn't pull all the way through.
36:32 At this point you can release your crochet needle.
36:33 Oh, well, I guess we're going to do it from this side because this end pulled in.
36:36 So we still have some left over on this side.
36:39 So what we're going to do is we're going to replace the disc right here.
36:43 Put the rubber bands right around that disc, just like that.
36:46 You see that?
36:47 I'm going to use the crochet needle to pull on the other end, to pull that rubber band
36:51 so it becomes taut.
36:55 You see that?
36:56 I've got the ends and now the rubber bands are going around that disc.
37:04 At this point you can place the backing on so it will hold it in place.
37:09 But let's not do that right now because something's going to happen where you might have to take
37:14 it apart again.
37:15 Maybe you can't find the thread.
37:16 So you want to leave that off for now.
37:19 You want to get the rubber bands parallel so you've got the rubber bands are parallel
37:25 going right up the tube.
37:26 Get the second disc right on there.
37:29 Use that crochet needle to hold everything in place.
37:32 Get it all on and we're done on this point here.
37:35 Now we've got the inner core of the ITR right inside, stable.
37:43 You want to knock it down.
37:44 Let's see if we can get it into about center.
37:47 So all I'm doing is knocking it so that the center of it winds up right where the holes
37:52 are.
37:53 You're going to suck on the hole there.
37:56 Hopefully grab that little piece of thread.
37:58 I think I see it in there.
38:00 Just do that there.
38:03 So actually there it is.
38:04 There's the thread.
38:05 Right here.
38:06 Again, if you need to use a needle and work it out, you can do that.
38:09 But most of the time, a couple of deep thrusts will get that thread out.
38:14 You're going to pull about six to seven inches and break the thread right here.
38:17 You see that?
38:18 All I'm doing is getting some tension.
38:21 I'm going to place the ball of wax back on the thread.
38:25 Pretty much on there and it's pretty good.
38:26 You want to knead it.
38:27 You want to bend that wax over a couple of times just to get that thread on there pretty
38:31 solid.
38:32 Now that you've done that, you've got your tension already on there.
38:36 You see that ball of wax should make its way right back and stop right where it should.
38:40 At this point, you're going to take your little caps, your ends, and you're just going to
38:43 wedge them right on there.
38:44 Make sure the disc goes right in, all the way to the back of that cap.
38:48 You shove that cap back on on both sides.
38:51 And what you have here is a fully functional ITR.
38:55 After breaking it and fixing it, there it is, really only took about five to ten minutes
38:59 right here in the studio.
39:01 And that's your ITR.
39:02 Now you just need to place it, hook it right back up, go outside, and start floating some
39:07 stuff.
39:10 All right, now that you've learned how to float, how to maintain your ITR, let's just
39:18 go over a couple of the waxes that you can use.
39:21 Now it's not just normal candle wax.
39:23 This stuff is more like a beeswax or something like that.
39:25 Now you can get some from Sorcery Shop, the actual stuff.
39:28 This is great.
39:30 This tub right here will last you years because you're only using a small amount at a time.
39:34 And the way you get it off is you're going to have to work it.
39:36 It's pretty hard.
39:37 You kind of work it with a small knife or anything or your fingernail or whatnot.
39:40 And you just kind of work it until you get a small ball that's kind of the size that
39:44 you saw before, kind of about the size of this here.
39:46 That's about the size that I use.
39:49 And that's the original ITR wax.
39:51 Now you can go to a magic shop and get yourself some magician's wax.
39:54 They've got many types, but just make sure that it's the harder wax and it's not that
39:58 soft wax that's made for card on ceiling or whatnot.
40:01 That stuff will mess up your ITR, get inside and mess up your thread.
40:05 Now in a clinch, I found at a Rite Aid or a CVS or whatnot, if you go in towards the
40:11 section for like the oral section, like braces and whatnot, there's a particular wax made
40:19 for braces.
40:20 And it is a very hard, pretty hard wax.
40:24 And I've used it in a bind.
40:25 I didn't have any.
40:26 I needed to go somewhere.
40:27 I went to a pharmacy and I found it right into Rite Aid and that's how I came in contact
40:30 with this stuff here.
40:31 So it will work in a bind.
40:32 Just make sure that it's a pretty hard wax.
40:35 So those are the different types of waxes you need.
40:38 And that's it.
40:49 Now we've come to my favorite part of the video, the end.
40:53 But before we get to the end, I do want to show you one more thing.
40:57 A bonus trick.
40:58 The lime in the drink.
40:59 Or in this case, it's going to be a lemon in the drink.
41:01 This is a great trick I've been doing for quite a long time.
41:05 It's been getting me a lot of reactions in the bar.
41:08 And this is pretty much it.
41:09 You probably saw it in the trailer.
41:10 It's the effect where a lemon or lime from a beverage makes its way and jumps right into
41:16 the drink.
41:17 Sometimes it will jump up in the air and float in.
41:20 Sometimes it will go in slowly.
41:22 But this is my lime in drink.
41:25 Check it out.
41:26 When you get served a beverage, bam, they put it down in front of you.
41:30 If it has one of these little lemons or limes on the edges, this is great.
41:33 The first thing I like to do is grab it and I give it a little, I move it up and down.
41:37 Make sure it's pretty loose and it's not wedged on the edge of the glass.
41:41 So you want to have it just loose enough.
41:43 You want to aim it towards you so the lime or the lemon is facing the magician, just
41:47 like so.
41:48 You call attention to somebody.
41:50 But before you do that, you want to reach inside and grab your ITR.
41:53 Here's going to be the setup of the thread, okay?
41:55 The thread, the ball of wax from the ITR is going to be held in my right hand between
42:01 the pinky and the ring finger.
42:03 I kind of let it hold right inside there and I squeeze.
42:05 It's actually inside here.
42:07 The get ready is when the drink comes down and they get placed right in front of me.
42:11 I look at the person next to me and I say, "Look at that.
42:13 This is one of the best things to do impromptu or the first thing, you know, like opener
42:17 or an attention getter or whatnot, a conversation piece."
42:21 I always say, "Look at that."
42:23 The bartender always puts the lime on the outside of the drink.
42:26 Isn't that something?
42:27 I like the lime on the inside of the drink.
42:30 And it kind of looks a little something like that in slow motion.
42:32 The lime will actually enter the drink.
42:34 Now I'm going to grab that back out and show you exactly how I did that.
42:37 Let me just wedge that back on the outside.
42:39 What I really did was extend my arm when I'm pointing.
42:43 I extend my arm and just like I'm floating the ring, I hook with my thumb.
42:48 I grab the other end and I make a straight line of thread going from my thumb of my left
42:52 hand to the ring and pinky finger of my right hand.
42:56 I get the thread right across so that it's going to hit the lime and I kind of just jerk
43:02 it right in.
43:03 Now I'm going to show you what the thread looks like, the positioning of the thread
43:06 with this shoelace so you know exactly what I'm talking about.
43:09 Again I'm going to place the shoelace inside my shirt.
43:13 The end will be my ring finger, pinky and ring finger right here.
43:17 It's just going to be held in there, that little ball of wax.
43:20 You're going to pull out some thread.
43:22 You're going to use your thumb to clip it here and it's just going to be like this.
43:27 You're going to hold taut right here, get a nice little tense thread here.
43:31 You're going to get right underneath the end of the lime and all you're going to do is
43:35 pull up with your hands.
43:37 Sometimes I train myself so I can snap my fingers and on the snap the lime gets pushed
43:42 right into the drink.
43:43 Now if you don't know about that invisible thread, this could be a killer trick.
43:48 Just look at it one last time.
43:49 It's going to be a little heavy.
43:50 There's a lot of liquid on that lime right now.
43:55 But if you watch it really closely, this is what it would look like.
43:58 Look at that.
43:59 Somebody put a lime on the edge of my drink.
44:02 Most of the times I like the lime on the inside of the drink.
44:04 Look at that.
44:05 A pure miracle.
44:07 And then of course you can toast to them and have yourself a nice little beverage there.
