00:00 instructions. So six to Superwelter.
00:15 Wohl in the white, El Moussami in the black and goal. Wohl lining up there as you
00:26 can see is a south four. The taller of the two. Four wins so far. Last fight was in
00:37 May. That came after eight months out of the ring. Learning fight so far as you
00:45 would expect. And El Moussami looked very up for this as he came into the ring and
00:53 particularly during the announcements as well. Just leading off for the hook there
00:55 Wohl. Just in and out with the front foot. Moussami just flicking out that lead hand.
01:10 Just trying to parry that southpaw jab. Looking for the left hand there Wohl.
01:13 That was a decent one too. Both of them just kind of half ricocheted through. The
01:20 problem he's got here or one of the problems he's got there with Moussami is
01:23 that when you're up against a southpaw and you're giving away height and reach
01:28 then it's a challenge because the way the southpaw is set up. The lead right
01:38 hand almost is the shot that you want to go for rather than the jab because it's
01:43 got a better chance of landing but he's got to get his feet in quite tight
01:46 really for that to be the case. And if Al-Khadi is just popping out the jab
01:52 that gives him a good chance of controlling the distance and if you
01:59 control the distance then essentially really you control the fight.
02:04 He's not using that lead hand much though Wohl. Mostly it's there to try and just tee
02:16 up the left hand but El Moussami has got to really commit and he's just slightly
02:24 reluctant to do that at the minute. Into the final minutes of round one.
02:29 That was an ambitious lead left uppercut there from El Moussami. It was well well
02:40 short. He doesn't really use his jab, the Moroccan, to work his way in. Doubling up,
02:53 tripling up on that jab could be the way to do it. Close the gap there and that's
03:00 what he's got to do he's got to really commit with those feet and get up close.
03:05 Long left hand caught on the glove there from El Moussami. Again just runs in
03:22 almost at the end of the round there. Not an enormous amount of clean punching in
03:29 that round but it was valid control things.
03:33 [MUSIC]
04:02 Both fighters choosing to stay on their feet in between rounds.
04:06 [MUSIC]
04:11 Second down. Ring 2, round 2.
04:15 It's pretty hot in here. This is an ice ring the rest of the year but the ice has gone over the summer
04:19 period and the way this place is set up you can't see it but the roof is kind of
04:23 perspex corrugated iron so it really does keep the heat in and it's hot over
04:28 here in Central Europe. So up there in the ring under the lights it's going to
04:33 be that bit hotter again. Nice right hand on the inside there from El Moussami.
04:41 Mainly blocked by the gloves of Valt but it was a decent looking shot.
04:53 Right hook got through there from Valt. He really steps in and reaches for that
04:58 left hand just pulled off the punch slightly right at the very end.
05:04 Left hand landed that time. Half blocked there by El Moussami but enough of it
05:22 got through. Comes a bit square there for Valt. Again he steps right in with that left.
05:27 What he doesn't do as I said is really use that jab, that lead right hand
05:34 to work his way in and then throw the left hand off the back of it. He'd have a
05:40 much better chance of landing it if he came in behind that jab even if it's
05:45 really just a distraction. At the minute he can see that left hand coming all the
05:50 way El Moussami. Left hand there was pretty much bang on the belt line.
06:14 There's a lot of shaping in this fight and not all that much landing. El Moussami
06:20 came forward there I think just got caught with a right hand on his way in
06:23 and there's that left hand but he sees it coming from such a long way back
06:27 there El Moussami but he's able just to get that glove in and block it.
06:32 And again there he's able just to pull the feet back out.
06:44 He's controlling the fight here Valt but he's finding it hard to really land with
06:50 any meaningful effect on El Moussami.
06:54 What he needs is for El Moussami to commit in the way that he did there.
07:03 Again he threw an uppercut on the way in which has got very very little chance of
07:08 landing but just followed it right onto the shoulder. That was better from Valt.
07:13 He did throw a jab there. Good reflexes there from El Moussami. Enjoyed that just
07:21 led back at the waist.
07:24 [Music]
07:49 There's that lead right uppercut and he could have been in trouble there because
07:56 when you throw a shot like that it doesn't land your feet get a bit stuck
08:01 but he just kept that full momentum going and he was on top of Valt before he
08:05 could really do too much about it.
08:08 [Music]
08:33 Well close the gap nice and quick there El Moussami. Couple of those registered.
08:41 He's got that kind of explosive style and he needs it too because he has to
08:46 spring in from the outside and he is in with somebody here in Valt who it does
08:53 give him a chance because what you don't want if you're someone like El Moussami
08:57 when you're pretty much always going to give away height and reach is somebody
09:01 who really uses that advantage snaps out a good powerful jab catches you on the
09:07 way in whether it's flushing the face or on the shoulder or wherever it is.
09:13 It'll just cause you to have to stop and start again it'll offset you.
09:23 Left hand into the body there for Valt. He's doing enough to win the fight here
09:28 I don't want to be too critical of him.
09:33 Just jabbing on the move there.
09:38 Elaborate dip of the knees there from El Moussami.
09:49 [Music]
09:52 Right hand from El Moussami just clips Valt high on the head.
10:05 [Music]
10:29 And again he jumps in from the outside there El Moussami.
10:34 Nice right hand there from Valt though.
10:44 As the fight goes on maybe Valt will just get a little bit more used to this
10:49 style of El Moussami and when he does come hurtling in from the outside just
10:52 take a little half step back rather than pull his feet all the way out and just
10:56 catch him as he comes forward. Nice left hand into the body there from Valt.
11:00 This is a good finish to the round for him.
11:03 El Moussami just grabbing hold of him.
11:10 A little bit of swelling under the left eye I think has come up for El Moussami.
11:15 Nothing dramatic.
11:19 [Music]
11:22 That's when he comes leaping in and actually the swelling under the eyes I
11:32 look at him in the corner up to my right hand side doesn't look too good. It's a
11:36 little knot, a little mouse that has sprung up quite quickly and there's a cut
11:42 just right in the middle of it. Nothing major but it's definitely something for
11:46 Valt to aim at. I don't know whether that was the heads coming together or
11:50 whether it was a punch.
11:52 [Music]

12:02 [Music]
12:28 Into the second half of the fight Paul Valt the 4-0 German fighter.
12:34 He's in the white. Zivadine El Moussami 2-0. From Morocco he is in the black and
12:39 gold. There's that good upper body movement from El Moussami. He certainly
12:45 does his groundwork because pulling off manoeuvres like that you define the laws
12:51 of gravity almost at times.
12:55 [Music]
12:58 Both just moving forward at the same time. A little uppercut on the inside
13:23 there from El Moussami. Knot of the head from Valt.
13:29 Dipped under the right hand there neatly Paul Valt but at that kind of range
13:39 doesn't really have that much room to work.
13:43 Again just stepping in but El Moussami holds his ground there. Long left hand got
13:53 through just.
13:56 Left into the body from Valt. He was more effective when he just gets those feet a
14:09 little bit closer.
14:18 Chopping down with the left hand there Valt. It's the final minute of round four.
14:25 Two to go after this.
14:42 Left hand. Half blocked there by El Moussami. But he just had him pinned back
14:51 on the ropes there Valt.
14:54 Let his hands go there El Moussami but Valt's defences were intact and he nods
15:04 at El Moussami. He quite fancies his chances when his opponent looks to open
15:10 up.
15:12 (audience laughing)
15:15 (bell ringing)
15:23 (whistle blowing)
15:27 (upbeat music)
15:33 (upbeat music)
15:35 (upbeat music)
15:38 (upbeat music)
15:40 (upbeat music)
15:43 (upbeat music)
15:46 (upbeat music)
15:49 (upbeat music)
15:55 (upbeat music)
16:00 - Well he was standing up earlier on Paul Varl,
16:11 but he's decided to take his seat now.
16:13 Samuel Masami on the other side of the ring
16:15 has stayed on his feet.
16:17 So two rounds remaining in this one.
16:20 (bell ringing)
16:23 This is Super Welterweight, our main event later on.
16:29 Slava Spoma, Felice Moncelli,
16:31 that's at Super Welterweight as well,
16:33 the WBO Global title on the line.
16:35 Spoma, local guy, undefeated,
16:39 smooth progress in his career so far.
16:42 Moncelli,
16:44 definitely fancies his chances,
16:49 having seen him around the last couple of days.
16:53 I think he feels that Spoma is
16:59 a classic case of a protected home fighter,
17:03 and that they've picked the wrong guy in Moncelli.
17:07 (crowd shouting)
17:10 Left hand from Varl, but that right glove again
17:18 was where it needed to be.
17:20 Short left hand that time,
17:21 and that was a beautiful shot from Varl.
17:24 Went straight through the guard
17:27 as he was standing a little bit tall and square.
17:30 He's complaining there.
17:33 El Masami, I'm not absolutely sure what about,
17:35 because for once he didn't have that glove up.
17:38 On the turn almost, he threw the straight left,
17:41 his feet were nice and close,
17:43 and this time he didn't really see it.
17:45 And looking for that strong left hand again here, Varl.
17:49 Halfway through the round,
17:51 and catches him with another there,
17:53 and one more clean punch,
17:55 and he could be in trouble here again, El Masami.
17:57 He's been caught with three or four,
17:58 and the referee jumps in because the trainer
18:01 is up on the apron with a towel in his hand,
18:04 and he'd seen enough.
18:05 El Masami doesn't really like it,
18:07 but at the same time, he had his head rocked back there
18:10 three, four times by those strong left hands.
18:13 And well, that was good work from Paul Varl,
18:16 because as I say, for the first time really,
18:18 he got through with a nice left hand
18:21 that El Masami didn't really see.
18:23 He blocked one just before that,
18:24 then they got into a half clinch almost,
18:27 left hand side of the ring as I look.
18:29 Turn, and on the turn, he threw that straight left hand,
18:32 caught him, and down he went.
18:35 And then he locked on pretty quickly too,
18:40 when the action resumed.
18:43 And El Masami was holding on a little bit,
18:47 and the corner decided that
18:50 they were going to save him for another day.
18:54 (crowd murmuring)
18:57 (crowd applauding)
19:07 So let's have a look.
19:15 There it is, lovely short left hand.
19:18 Lovely short left hand, timed it perfectly.
19:23 And as I said previously,
19:24 he'd been throwing those left hands
19:26 right from the back of the arena,
19:27 and he'd seen them coming all the way, but not that time.
19:30 (announcers speaking in foreign language)
19:33 (crowd cheering)
19:36 (announcers speaking in foreign language)
19:41 We got a winner by TKO in round number five
19:46 after one minute and 39 seconds,
19:49 all the way from Berlin, Paul!
19:52 - Paul!
19:52 - Weiss!
19:54 - So five and O now for Paul Weiss,
19:58 and that was a good, good finish.
