We ask Birmingham: Is it spelled “Mom” or “Mum”?

Here in the West Midlands we have a very distinct way of speaking and this is expressed most strongly in the Black Country area where a dialect is used which forms the basis of the accents in the regions surrounding it. One of our peculiarities is the way we spell “mom”. Is it M O M or M U M?
