Jeff Bezos, the founder and executive chair of Amazon, made a surprising move by purchasing a single share of Amazon stock for about $115 in late May. This marks his first known purchase of the company's stock in over two decades. The timing of the trade, as well as the numbers involved in the reporting and stock donation, have led to speculation that Bezos may have been similarly trolling Wall Street to Elon Musk. Bezos paid $114.77 for the share and, after subtracting the shares he donated, his stake in Amazon stands at 990,476,371, worth approximately $122 billion. Bezos has predominantly been a seller of Amazon stock in the past 20 years. Amazon's stock has experienced a significant increase this year, contributing to Bezos' estimated net worth of $147 billion.
