00:00 all times good luck to you both good luck well Tommy Fletcher is huge for a cruiserweight stand
00:07 six foot seven and he has a real puncher's reputation against Pavel Shklyakovsky who in
00:15 his corner interestingly has Bartosz Glawacki helping out Glawacki fought in the opening
00:22 contest of the night and was stopped in 51 seconds by Ben Fail whose twin brother Carl
00:30 is going to be fighting later on this evening good evening Richie good evening John yeah looking
00:36 forward to a good night and the opening the proceedings Tommy Fletcher tall ranging
00:41 southpaw a nightmare to box against good counter puncher and straight away Shklyakovsky is having
00:48 problems actually just closing that gap down Clemens tough difficulty finding good sparring
00:54 up near his home in Norfolk he reckons he's not just about everybody out who can fight in Norfolk
00:59 so he makes his way 108 90 miles or so down to Raynham home of Mark and Jimmy Tibbs to train there
01:11 and he's really starting to open up or at least try to in this very first round yeah he's working
01:17 well with his job but he's also stepping in he just steps in a little bit too quickly there but
01:22 nevertheless he's working well with his job but because he's so tall and rangy John he's got he
01:27 gets great leverage in his shots that's where that's where the power comes from but because
01:32 he's a southpaw he can set the attacks up with his jab and then as his opponent comes forward
01:37 he brings him onto the shot as well and that's when he produces the power so yeah he's explosive
01:41 and he's dangerous and so tall for a cruiserweight Shklyakovsky's been stopped in three of his
01:48 last five contests and it's already looking as though he's going to do well to get through this one
01:53 Shklyakovsky's having real nightmares here he's getting picked off at range his feet are a little
02:01 bit too slow and that the pace is probably suited Fletcher down to the ground but he's the one who's
02:06 dictating things easier said than done but Shklyakovsky's probably got to close that gap
02:12 quicker than get up close because he's just getting picked off at range mid to long range
02:16 and Fletcher is totally in control so Fletcher's trainer Mark Tibbs in the cafe over the road
02:22 earlier on and he was telling us there about just how hard this lad hits and how the heavyweights
02:28 who he spars with are in awe of his power they're very very wary of him
02:35 long levers as they say long levers and that's where that power comes from
02:39 and when he wants to we can get up on his toes and work with the jab but that's a good left hand
02:44 touchdown and the couch is given went on behind the right hand jab there was the straight left
02:51 which put him down he says to the referee Lee Every that he's okay to continue
02:57 that the seconds there's still time for Fletcher to finish this one in this opening round
03:04 yeah setting things up again with his lead hand but it's that backhand of his the left
03:08 that he's catching Shklyakovsky with that straight left and there it was again not too far away
03:12 last few seconds is he going to be able to find a payoff punch to end it in the opening round it
03:19 doesn't look as though it's going to come there's the bell just a second or two early and a clear
03:24 clear round to Fletcher
03:34 welcome back to your call our first fight of the night Tommy Fletcher undefeated prospect
03:39 from Norfolk who did pretty well in the opening round dominant round especially with the jab and
03:43 the straight left hand caught Shklyakovsky time and again that one puts him down what
03:47 is left down through the middle there he was there good shot
04:01 Shklyakovsky not really finding anything to put Fletcher under any sort of pressure at this stage
04:06 well there was an example right at the start of the round where Shklyakovsky's
04:12 really struggling because Fletcher just caught him with a simple long range jab bang on the button
04:17 and he's got problems obviously with Fletcher's backhand but it's the lead hand as well
04:22 that probably sets up though these attacks and he's very good with that lead hand and
04:27 there he is again you see just peppering away with that shot overhand right just a glancing blow
04:34 from Shklyakovsky who's fighting for the eighth time here at Bethnal Green he's yet to win one
04:39 and down he goes again for the second time and I wonder if he's going to get up this time
04:44 because Fletcher's celebrating the pains remaining big left hand to the body and he
04:50 takes the count and he's counted out in the second round and Tommy Fletcher scores a fourth knockout
04:57 win in his five professional appearances good display from Fletcher there and that little sneaky
05:03 little left hand underneath a little left uppercut to the body what a great shot because he'd been
05:07 working well with the jab with the straight left there they've been his main shots up until that
05:12 point and then he just changed the angle of a shot a little left uppercut underneath uh into the into
05:17 the mid drift and that was a tremendous stoppage there for Fletcher so that's a good performance
05:22 started really positive Frank Warren there just speaking to Fletcher he'll be he must be pleased
05:27 but that was a good performance worked well with his jab brought the straight left straight left
05:32 through timing again but the actual finish was that little left uppercut to the body what a
05:38 belting shot that is you know that's the first time we've probably seen that punch in the contest
05:44 it was these shots that was doing all the damage before that the straight shots with the straight
05:48 right and then the straight left hand but that little left uppercut there it was there as
05:53 Strykowski was coming on to it that's a belting shot and he was never getting up from that one
05:58 Fletcher knew that his man was down and couldn't respond Strykowski maybe he could have dragged
06:05 himself to his feet but he thought better of it Tommy Fletcher winning and winning emphatically
06:11 and here's Dev Sarnie with the confirmation
06:17 ladies and gentlemen at the time of one minute one second in the second round
06:22 your referee Lee Every calls a halt to this contest therefore your winner by ko
06:29 and still undefeated Tommy the Norfolk Nightmare
06:36 Fletcher well I'll avoid references to the Norfolk Nightmare having a dream night but he did pretty
06:46 well didn't he he got through it he's going to have a lot better fighters up against him in the
06:50 future than Pavel Strykowski
