00:00 Coffee break with me.
00:03 Hi guys and welcome back to my channel.
00:05 How are you today?
00:06 So many of you know that my best friend of life forever and ever in real life, legit
00:12 real life, is Samantha from Sammy's Makeup Corner here on YouTube.
00:15 In fact, we were blessed enough to meet each other because of YouTube.
00:19 So we decided, we literally talk all day long.
00:23 All day long.
00:24 Like our husbands have checked our phone records and they're like, "What do you guys talk about
00:29 for this long?
00:31 Seriously."
00:32 It's pretty insane.
00:34 But basically everything.
00:35 So we were talking and we're like, "You know what?
00:38 When you came to visit," I told Samantha, "When you came to visit the last time, we
00:42 did a video where we did our top favorite," I think they were repurchased eye products.
00:47 Is that what it was?
00:49 Oh, I don't remember.
00:50 I'm on my brain.
00:51 So we did our top favorite repurchased eye products, I believe.
00:55 Something like that.
00:56 And I was like, "You know what?
00:57 You said we would do this series together and we haven't continued it."
01:00 So what we decided to do was we're going to do a weekly video where we share with you
01:04 our top five blank.
01:06 So top five highlighters, top five blushes, top five whatever.
01:10 And the whole premise or purpose of this video is to share with you guys our favorites, narrow
01:15 it down to five choices, but also keeping into consideration that the both of us have
01:21 different skin tones and skin types.
01:24 So Sam has oily skin and she's also very fair and cool undertones.
01:32 And I have normal skin.
01:34 I don't even have an oily T-zone.
01:36 I have normal skin and I'm light to medium complected with warm undertones.
01:42 So well, neutral to warm.
01:43 I like to say I'm warm undertone, but it's really neutral.
01:46 I could go either way depending on the season, but I purchase and I wear warm foundations
01:53 because it's what I like.
01:54 So what we decided to do was start our first top five with highlighters.
01:59 And we were going to do the usual boring.
02:01 We're going to start with primers and then foundation and then powder and kind of go
02:04 in order.
02:05 But I was like, "Oh, that's not kind of fun.
02:07 We want to start off with something fun."
02:09 So we decided to go with highlighters because you know how I feel about this unicorn power
02:13 and pick our top five.
02:15 And I'm surprised because she and I didn't pick very similar ones.
02:19 So it's going to be very exciting for you guys to see both of our versions.
02:22 So what I'm going to do is I'm going to bring you in closer and I'm going to show you my
02:25 favorites.
02:26 Welcome to my face.
02:27 So the first one that I want to share with you guys is probably the most unique and you
02:31 heard me rave and rave about it when I did my ColourPop highlighter review.
02:35 And that is the ColourPop highlighter in Monster.
02:38 And I'm not even going to be able to do it justice with this lighting, but the highlighter
02:44 itself is a pearl highlight base with a pink and lavender duo chrome to it.
02:53 So this is a highlighter unlike any highlighter that you're ever going to see.
02:57 It's super unique, but it's just really going to brighten up your face, but it's going to
03:02 give you a useful glow, which is very important.
03:06 With highlighters, the last thing you want it to do is to age you.
03:10 And a lot of highlighters can do that.
03:12 So this one again is called Monster and it is just a really beautiful, you can see how
03:19 it has that pinky glow to it.
03:21 This isn't a highlighter with shimmer.
03:23 It's a highlighter that is just a pearl.
03:25 It's a duo chrome pearl.
03:26 You see how pretty that is?
03:28 I really like this.
03:29 Even though this would be better on a cool skin tone person, a neutral to cool skin tone
03:35 person, I still wear it and I really like it.
03:38 It doesn't look like when I wear a purple blush.
03:44 If I wear a purple blush, it looks like I got punched in the face.
03:47 This one doesn't look like that because it's a highlighter.
03:50 The other one that I want to share with you guys is from Laura Mercier and this is the
03:57 highlighter in one.
03:58 This is the matte radiance baked powder in number one.
04:03 This highlighter is perfect for every single day for work, for school.
04:10 It's going to give you the glow, but it's not going to be super sparkly.
04:15 Well, it's not sparkly at all.
04:18 It's basically going to give you a glow.
04:20 Like it says, it's a radiance.
04:22 So it's a beautiful baked highlighter.
04:24 It's super smooth.
04:25 You can see on my finger it does look matte, but it gives you like a satin glow on your
04:30 skin.
04:31 That's that one right there.
04:34 So you see how beautiful it is?
04:36 It's just going to look like a, almost like a radiant, lighter setting powder.
04:43 So when you apply it, you could literally do this whole entire section of your face
04:48 down the center of your nose, your chin.
04:51 You could go overboard with this highlighter.
04:54 It's never going to look hella crazy.
04:56 You know what I'm saying?
04:57 So for me, I like highlighters because I want them to be sparkly and glowy and bam in your
05:02 face.
05:03 That's what I want out of them.
05:04 But it's really important to be able to know when you can use your highlighters that way.
05:09 So having one like this one from Laura Mercier is really useful because if you like your
05:14 face to look radiant and glowy, but you have to go to work, that's a really great option.
05:19 Another option that I have for you guys, and this is my bam in your face.
05:23 And I want people to look at me and I want people to know I'm wearing a highlighter.
05:28 I like Mary Lou Manizer from the balm.
05:32 This highlighter gets a lot of credit because it's awesome.
05:35 And the balm formulates their products so that they can be multi-purpose.
05:39 This could be used on your eyes, it could be used on your lips, it could be used on
05:42 your face, your cheeks, wherever you want to use it.
05:44 It's a multi-purpose powder, so it's not just a highlighting powder.
05:49 But you guys, this is basically the same color as this one from Laura Mercier except metallic.
05:59 So this one here is baked, it's glowy, it's radiant, it's satin.
06:03 This one here is the same shade, but metallic.
06:07 You're going to see what I'm talking about.
06:09 Do you see that?
06:11 It's this one right here.
06:12 So you see the sheen when I rotate it with the lights?
06:17 You can see the sheen of all of them.
06:19 And the one in the middle is like, "Yeah, I'm not so sheeny for you.
06:22 I'm not going to be that glowy."
06:23 But it's going to still liven up your face.
06:26 This one here is going to be like, "Yup, she's wearing highlighter.
06:29 She's wearing it on the tip of her nose."
06:31 My fourth highlighter that I want to share with you guys is important for me because
06:35 initially I really wanted to share with you guys the Estee Lauder Heat Wave, which was
06:40 limited edition.
06:41 It's not available anymore.
06:43 Rumor is it's going to come back this summer again, but I think they changed the formula.
06:49 I'm not sure.
06:50 So I'm not even going to swatch that for you guys because it will break your heart knowing
06:53 you can't get it.
06:54 But a really good alternative to that one is the Makeup Forever Pro Sculpting Duo in
07:01 number two.
07:02 The highlighter in here is very similar, but it's not the same.
07:07 A lot of people are saying it's a dupe, but it's really not exactly the same.
07:11 This one here is a little bit darker, but it's still breathtaking, especially for those
07:17 of you with medium to deeper skin tones.
07:20 This highlighter will be your best friend.
07:22 You're going to hit pan in like five minutes.
07:25 That's the highlighter right there.
07:27 I want to take a foundation buffing brush right now and literally apply this as foundation
07:33 on my face right now.
07:34 That's how this makes me feel.
07:36 Imagine.
07:37 That would be really nice.
07:38 Let me show you guys.
07:42 That's this one right here.
07:44 So you could ... I mean, look at that.
07:46 When I turn my wrist, that's the color of it.
07:50 So it's a deeper peach.
07:52 That's how it looks like when the light hits it.
07:54 So it's really important to know the color of the highlight and the glow that it gives
07:59 you.
08:00 Those are the two factors that you want to look in for highlighters.
08:02 So this is a peach highlight, and it's a metallic one.
08:05 It's not a glittery one or a shimmery one.
08:07 It's metallic.
08:08 This one here is like a vanilla shade.
08:12 Vanilla like pearl shade, and it's also metallic.
08:15 This one here is like a peachy vanilla.
08:17 So it has a peach base, but it's still really light, like a cream colored or a vanilla.
08:24 And then this one has a pink base.
08:27 See what I'm saying?
08:29 Highlighters 101.
08:30 Somewhere around the corner, I wanted to share a liquid illuminator with you guys, or a liquid
08:34 highlight, and I like liquid highlighters for several reasons.
08:38 One, they're good for people with dry skin.
08:40 Two, they're great for the summer.
08:43 Three, they're great for people that like dewy skin or dewy finishes.
08:48 And four, they're great to mix into foundations to make them a lot more illuminated or glowy
08:54 or awesome.
08:56 And my favorite one is from Becca, and this is the Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal.
09:02 The powder highlight in Opal is amazing, but I had to narrow it down to five, so I decided
09:08 to go with the liquid version so that it has a multi-purpose.
09:12 This highlighter, you guys.
09:16 You know when I say you guys, we're talking about changing your life here.
09:22 So that's what the highlight looks like.
09:26 It is basically like liquid highlight perfection.
09:33 You can build it up.
09:34 You could apply it really thin for just a natural, glowy summer look, or you could build
09:42 it up and you could legit look like you swallowed some diamonds.
09:46 Do you see that?
09:49 Look at how my skin looks.
09:51 There's no definition of color.
09:54 Where the highlight is, it's basically just like glow.
09:57 Do you want me to do this?
10:00 I should just do this for the next a minute.
10:02 So you could be like, "Whoa, that's crazy."
10:05 Isn't that beautiful?
10:07 Imagine that mixed into your foundation, just on the high point of your cheekbones.
10:11 I was actually planning on filming this video on another day so that I could wear one of
10:16 these highlighters for you, but I was like, "No, I need to do this now."
10:20 You see that?
10:23 Oh my God.
10:26 I'm too busy looking at it in my reflection instead of looking at you guys.
10:31 That's how beautiful it is.
10:32 I mean, oh, isn't it fabulous?
10:36 Look at these.
10:37 So again, this is Monster from ColourPop.
10:39 This one here is Highlight 01, or number one, from Laura Mercier.
10:44 This one here is Mary Lou Manizer from The Balm, and this one down here is the Pro Sculpting
10:48 Duo from Makeup Forever in number two.
10:51 I mean, look at this.
10:54 It's like I have little newborn baby unicorns living on the tops of my hands.
10:59 Do any of you guys ever feel like when you buy a new highlighter that you legit want
11:04 to just put it all over your face?
11:06 Or is that just me?
11:08 Highlight makes me so happy.
11:10 Blush makes me happier, but highlight powder, it's just like, "Wow, how could you do that
11:15 to my face?
11:16 Like, make it look so glowy and delicious."
11:19 Look, even from far away, I mean, look at this one.
11:23 Geez, I want to wash my face and just apply it like foundation, like lotion, like body
11:28 lotion.
11:29 Okay, maybe I like highlighters more than blushes.
11:32 I really hope you guys enjoyed this video.
11:34 I really hope that you guys like that it's in collaboration with my best friend, because
11:39 you're really going to see how great of a relationship we are.
11:43 We're legitimately ... I feel like both of us lived through life not knowing what a real
11:47 best friend was, and then when we met each other, we're like, "Have I been robbed this
11:51 entire time?"
11:52 I'm really excited to be doing this collaboration with my best friend.
11:55 I mean, it's going to be so much fun, and we literally have different options, which
12:00 is crazy.
12:01 I thought because we're so similar that we were going to end up doing a lot of repeats,
12:05 but we're so different when it comes to our taste in makeup.
12:09 So what I'm going to do is I'm going to list and link all of these highlighters in the
12:12 description box below.
12:14 We purposely went out of our way to pick all permanent products.
12:18 We don't want to pick anything limited edition so that if you guys fall in love with any
12:23 of these, you guys can purchase them.
12:25 So I'm going to list and link them in the description box below.
12:28 I'm also going to link Samantha's channel and her video in the description box below.
12:33 So if you subscribe to her channel, you won't miss when she posts her next top five.
12:37 I think the next top five we're going to do is blushes, which is going to be incredibly
12:41 physically grueling and hard for me to narrow it down to just five.
12:46 Do you see that cubby there and this cubby here?
12:50 All blushes.
12:52 All blushes.
12:54 This is like my Fort Knox investment right here, you guys.
12:57 It's going to be very hard.
12:58 So that's going to be our next video.
12:59 I really hope you guys enjoyed this video.
13:00 Let me know what some of your top five or maybe your number one favorite highlighter
13:07 is in the description box below because I may need it in my life.
13:11 I mean, if it does this, I may need it in my life.
13:13 So let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.
13:15 And as always, if you found this video useful, entertaining, or earned something, please
13:19 give me a thumbs up or subscribe if you haven't already.
13:22 And until next time, this coffee break is over.
13:24 Bye, guys.
13:25 Bye guys!
13:26 (upbeat music)
