00:00 Anything right here, I'm gonna call it good.
00:02 Anything right here, I'm gonna call it good.
00:04 Careful with the back of the heads, gentlemen, all right?
00:06 Remember what I told you in the dressing room.
00:08 Obey the commands at all times, protect yourselves at all times.
00:11 When I call for a break, give me a clean, touchy look.
00:13 Let's go.
00:15 >> Damian Knieva coming off of back-to-back knockout wins.
00:20 His opponent is coming off of a loss to Otto Wallin
00:24 that he fought with a fractured left hand,
00:27 but they call him the dream for one reason.
00:30 He weighed 256.8 pounds on Friday at our weigh-in.
00:34 That is down from 368 pounds in two years.
00:38 That is 110.2 pounds.
00:41 The only person who dropped that much weight was Tim Bradley
00:44 for his Hall of Fame induction.
00:47 >> It's a lot of math. There's a lot of numbers questions.
00:49 Can he fight?
00:51 >> Well, he's healthy for the first time in a long time, he says.
00:55 And that could make a difference.
00:58 The question is can he take the power of Damian Knieva,
01:02 who's got seven knockout wins in 11 victories.
01:06 I'm Bernardo Osuna joined by Mark Kregel, ringside,
01:09 for this heavyweight eight-rounder.
01:12 >> It's not gonna make that much difference, Bernardo,
01:15 if Knieva uses what he has.
01:17 It's longer than anybody,
01:20 and that includes the heavyweight champ Tyson Fury,
01:22 an 86-inch reach.
01:25 >> That's the only other fighters who have 85-inch reaches
01:29 are the aforementioned Tyson Fury
01:31 and Antonio Mireles, El Gigante, as well.
01:34 So these guys can tie their shoes without even bending over.
01:39 And Knieva looking to land that overhand right
01:42 on the chin of Molgin.
01:45 Nice counter right there from Molgin.
01:51 >> We've already seen more right hands from Knieva
01:53 than we saw the first half of last fight.
01:56 >> Stop, stop, stop. Good job, good job, good job, good job.
01:59 >> They had to put Shaddamird in there.
02:04 He's the only guy tall enough.
02:06 Knieva stands at 6'7".
02:16 >> He wants to fashion himself into another Andrew Gallardo
02:21 to become an attraction.
02:23 Personally, I hope he has his sights--
02:26 ooh, head higher.
02:29 Getting hit with that left to the body by El Gigante.
02:33 >> El Gigante says, "Look, I'm healthy.
02:35 I don't have the conditioning issues that I've had
02:38 in previous fights."
02:40 He says, "I'm kind of dumb."
02:42 He says, "I fought against Valin with a broken hand.
02:44 When you guys last saw me in the bubble,
02:47 I had a torn biceps going in.
02:49 I already had a surgery scheduled for that next Friday,
02:53 but yet I took the payday."
02:56 >> Most guys do take the payday.
02:59 >> And here the right to the head after the left to the body
03:03 from Molgin.
03:05 >> I wonder what a little skinny Molgin would look like.
03:11 I mean, he's got good hands.
03:13 >> Oh, there's a right to the back of the head.
03:15 And it's not a knockdown, as Shadow Murdoch
03:19 immediately saw that.
03:21 >> You mentioned Valin before.
03:24 I always have to get an obligatory
03:27 Otto Valin reference.
03:29 But he fought Tyson Fury about as well as you can,
03:32 and it seems like no one wants to fight him.
03:34 >> Yeah, Keneba with a nice counter right there,
03:37 as Hellermann Olgin got a little bit overzealous,
03:42 but a close first round here inside the theater at MSG.
03:46 You see how long his arms are,
03:52 they're outstretched over the ropes there.
03:54 Keneba with an 86-inch reach,
03:56 followed by Antonio Mireles and Tyson Fury.
03:59 Deontay Wilder at 83 inches,
04:02 and Anthony Joshua at 82.
04:04 That's among the notable heavyweights of this era.
04:08 >> I'm the boss of this house, I'm the boss right now, right?
04:10 He's gonna make the mistake.
04:15 Every single time, he's gonna jump in.
04:17 So work off the jab.
04:18 When you throw the jab, you're gonna try to counter,
04:20 you counter his counter.
04:22 Easy, okay?
04:23 >> Shawn George in the corner.
04:25 This is his second camp with him,
04:27 but the first time he actually works the corner,
04:29 because last time out,
04:32 Shawn George was with Zhilei Zhang in London,
04:35 pulling off the upset win.
04:38 So this time, he not only did the camp with Shawn George,
04:42 but he's in here giving the instructions.
04:45 And there's actually a date announcement for the rematch for Zhilei Zhang.
04:50 >> I think that guy's a really interesting fighter.
04:54 I want to see him again.
04:56 Guy from mainland China, lives, trains in Patterson, New Jersey.
04:59 I'm all for it.
05:01 >> He'll be taking on...
05:04 Ooh, nice counter right there from Kaniba.
05:06 It worked at the end of the last round,
05:08 and it's working at the beginning here of round number two.
05:11 And now a left hook from Kaniba,
05:13 and this is turning into a firefight.
05:15 >> I'd like to see if Kaniba has anything more he can do
05:26 with that right hand, but shoot it straight.
05:30 It'd be nice if he could stick it up and parry, too,
05:32 because he's getting hit with a lot of left.
05:35 >> And the right hand there from Olguin,
05:37 who's letting his hands go.
05:39 >> Olguin's got nothing to lose and a whole lot to gain here.
05:44 >> Absolutely. He can take the unbeaten record
05:48 of Damian Kaniba in his 12th professional fight.
05:51 >> He can also get a bunch more payday.
05:57 >> He needs them, but he had to close his gym that he opened
06:00 after the pandemic, and now he owns
06:03 a commercial cleaning business, so there's occasions
06:05 where his days start at 4 a.m. in the gym,
06:08 then he goes to work at 7,
06:11 does a whole day's work, and finishes off
06:14 with boxing in the gym in the evening,
06:17 so he really wants to give this one last go.
06:20 >> Go home, go home, go home, run about.
06:23 >> Because you're Damian Young.
06:25 >> On occasion.
06:27 [crowd chanting]
06:30 >> You hear the crowds into the fight.
06:43 They're yelling "Hussar."
06:46 >> That means that the Polish Hussar Army was one of the best in Europe.
06:51 Like, 500 of them would take on thousands
06:54 and come away victorious. They were huge and powerful,
06:57 and Kaniba's proud of his heritage, and he wants to bring that
07:00 to Polish boxing.
07:03 Nice left hook after a long right miss from Kaniba.
07:06 He gets punished with a right to the body from Olgin.
07:09 >> That's the plan with a guy like Kaniba, to turn him into
07:14 a local draw, and then get him into bigger
07:17 and better fights. He can accelerate
07:20 the process, I think, if he
07:23 does a little bit more with that right hand.
07:26 >> That's his power shot. That's the shot that
07:32 has finished seven of his 11 opponents so far, and that's the
07:35 shot that he takes from Olgin here at the closing
07:38 seconds of round number two.
07:41 Last year, Xander Zayas was set to fight on this
07:46 same Puerto Rican Day parade weekend
07:49 when he was forced to withdraw due to an illness, so tonight he's looking
07:52 forward to what he calls a dream come true.
07:55 >> This is my first time fighting in Puerto Rican Day weekend,
08:01 and it does make it special. The people are going to be
08:04 rooting for me, the fans.
08:07 >> This is the moment he dreamed of.
08:09 >> Puerto Rico makes great fighters because we have pride in what we do.
08:12 We put love into this. We have the people
08:15 behind us, and the support that we need from the
08:18 island. It's a small island with a lot of heart,
08:21 a lot of dedication, a lot of hard work. Fighting for the Miguel
08:24 Cotto trophy is a dream. It's a dream.
08:27 Somebody that I look up to, somebody that I admire as a person
08:30 and as a fighter. To be fighting for this trophy, especially
08:33 in Puerto Rican Day weekend,
08:36 it's a dream come true.
08:39 >> These are the last five fights for this young man unbeaten in 15.
08:45 And the last
08:48 one was a decision after a knockout
08:51 win over Elias Espada. He just understands
08:54 that he's learning to win fights
08:57 not just by knocking out overmatched opponents now.
09:00 So he understands that he needs to continue to improve,
09:03 but activity is probably going to be the best way
09:06 for Xander Zayas to continue
09:09 growing as a fighter.
09:12 >> After a night like tonight, a culminating like tonight,
09:15 he's not going to be able to learn
09:18 quietly anymore. There's going to be a lot more exposure.
09:21 >> Big night. Big night for him here, Puerto Rican Day
09:24 weekend. And every time we come to New York, Mark, it seems
09:27 like it's a big night for you as you earned
09:30 the Boxing Writers Association of America
09:33 Nat Fleischer Lifetime Achievement Award.
09:36 And here, Keney was looking to achieve his eighth
09:39 knockout. >> Thanks, buddy.
09:42 >> Nice. Oh, now it looks like
09:45 Ogin got hurt by that left hand.
09:48 A little shaky.
09:51 Can Keney take advantage or will
09:54 Ogin be able to fight him off?
09:57 >> Stop, stop, don't push, don't push, don't push.
10:00 >> This is money in the bank for Keney, but
10:03 if he can take out Ogin early.
10:06 Knockouts are money for these guys.
10:09 The heavier you get, the more.
10:12 >> That has to be your calling card where when you're
10:15 a big puncher like Damian Keney, but to be
10:18 able to finish an opponent like
10:21 Helaman Ogin.
10:24 >> Nice right to the body.
10:27 >> And here we see
10:30 now Keney letting his hands go, finding
10:33 a target on the face of Helaman Ogin.
10:36 Ogin's full name is
10:39 Helaman Moroni. He says his fathers were LDS
10:42 and they named him after the
10:45 warrior. Well, he needs to come back
10:48 and fight like a warrior against Damian Keney.
10:51 >> Hard he has, but if Keney starts throwing a variety of right hands,
10:59 he's going to find it awfully hard to survive.
11:02 >> Keney has a jab.
11:07 He goes down with it.
11:10 Down to the body it is.
11:13 Ogin is dangerous though, and I think
11:19 Keney is wary of there's something coming back
11:22 from him. >> It's usually the left hand to the body.
11:26 >> There it is again.
11:29 >> Here comes a right.
11:35 There we go. >> Nostradamus Kriegel.
11:38 Or is it just that obvious?
11:41 >> I think it was that obvious, Ken.
11:44 >> I will listen in to
11:47 Sean George with Damian Keney.
11:50 >> Damian, this guy
11:53 does not belong in the ring with you.
11:56 He doesn't belong in there.
11:59 He's jumping in on everything that you're doing.
12:02 Every time you're touching him, he's going to jump in and
12:05 leave it in his head right there. I want you to touch,
12:08 pop the jab, when he jumps in, meet him with the right hand,
12:11 get back on defense. Then you can articulate the uppercuts and the hooks
12:14 after that. Stop rushing. Stop fighting like an amateur fighter.
12:17 You're a professional fighter now. Get this work.
12:20 >> Yeah. Okay. >> This is easy work.
12:23 Work off your jab.
12:26 I'm screaming over here. You know what to do.
12:29 Make this an easy fight. Get him out of here.
12:32 You got me? All right. Be smart.
12:35 >> Perfect advice from Sean George.
12:42 Let's get out of here early.
12:45 Put the money in the bank. There's no reason he shouldn't do it.
12:48 >> He doesn't belong in the ring with you
12:51 is what he told Damian Knieva and Sean George,
12:54 a former fighter himself,
12:57 understands what it takes to take it to the next level.
13:00 He doesn't want Knieva to regret anything.
13:03 As you see, Elimanolgin just popping that jab,
13:06 trying to keep him off him.
13:09 >> But you're also seeing Knieva move him into the corner
13:12 without barely throwing anything.
13:15 He had his moment, and he let it go right there.
13:18 >> Chris Byrd actually knocked out --
13:21 I mean, Sean George actually knocked out Chris Byrd in 2008,
13:25 so he knows what it means to do it at the highest level.
13:29 >> I mean, he had him in the corner.
13:32 He had him on the end of that jab if he wanted him to be,
13:35 and he didn't press him, and he let him get out.
13:38 >> Nice counter right there from Knieva.
13:41 Elimanolgin forced a hold.
13:45 >> [Shouting]
13:48 >> He's got Elimanolgin blinking,
13:52 and that's not what you want to be doing if you're in the ring,
13:55 because that creates openings like that right uppercut
13:58 that Knieva's able to land.
14:01 >> [Shouting]
14:04 >> Talk about a rough road and just 15 professional fights.
14:11 This is Elimanolgin's fifth unbeaten opponent that he faces.
14:16 And Knieva starting to look every bit of that prospect
14:20 that he wants to be, letting his hands go in flurries.
14:25 >> What Knieva needs to master,
14:29 especially with that 86-inch reach, is distance.
14:34 >> [Shouting]
14:40 >> Knieva maybe smothering himself a little bit here.
14:43 >> No, that's what I'm saying.
14:46 >> You've got the longest reach in the sport. Use it.
14:52 And make the guy pay if he decides to come in.
14:55 For now, his bloody nose,
14:57 looks like a little bit of blood on the outside of the left eye.
15:00 Not sure if it's a cut or just the blood from the nose
15:03 that gathers on the glove of Knieva.
15:08 >> How big did you say Elgin was?
15:10 >> He was 368 pounds two years ago.
15:13 >> Must have been some sight.
15:15 >> Nice combinations here from Knieva.
15:19 >> Pick your head up, baby.
15:21 >> Nice right hand.
15:23 When you ask, I wonder what a thin Elgin looked like,
15:27 he was probably like eight years old.
15:31 >> But once again, he pushed him up against the ropes
15:34 and all he had to do was step back
15:36 and he could have thrown all the punches he wanted to, Knieva.
15:40 >> Closing round number four,
15:42 and Josh Taylor hasn't shied away from commenting
15:44 on Teofimo Lopez's state of mind,
15:46 but that doesn't seem to bother Teofimo a bit.
15:50 >> He's mentally weak.
15:52 Mentally, he's a mouse.
15:54 And he's already got the doubts in his mind.
15:57 And I'm going to cement them,
15:58 and I'm going to put this guy into retirement
16:00 after I've given him that much of a beating and a schooling.
16:03 >> A mouse or a moose? Which one is it?
16:05 >> A mouse.
16:06 >> A mouse? F*** yeah, I love that.
16:08 >> A moose is mighty.
16:09 >> I love that sh*t, mate.
16:10 >> Moose is mighty, you're a mouse.
16:11 >> Thank you for the compliment.
16:13 [laughing]
16:15 Oh, man, I can't wait, man.
16:17 I'm going to f*** this guy up, man.
16:18 I can't wait. This is going to be fun.
16:20 >> You've got asthma, your lungs are going to be on fire.
16:22 Trust me, I'm going to make you work that hard,
16:24 your heart and lungs are going to be exploding.
16:26 >> What do I have to lose?
16:29 What do I have to lose?
16:30 I'm Teofimo, against all odds.
16:32 The guy that comes in there when everyone thinks that he's done.
16:35 I give you guys what you want,
16:37 but I'm not going to give you guys what you need until June 10th.
16:40 >> Mark, no one's been closer than these two fighters throughout the week.
16:46 What is their state of mind on fight week?
16:49 >> Angry.
16:50 I've never had a lead up to a fight quite like this.
16:54 Josh Taylor, I think I read, okay,
16:58 he's just mean and he wants Adam.
17:00 It's been a long time since he's been in the ring.
17:03 Teofimo, we had a pretty dramatic interview.
17:06 I'm never quite sure.
17:09 I'm never quite sure, but
17:11 all it takes is one mistake from Taylor
17:15 and Teofimo can uncoil and end the night.
17:19 >> I remind you that Taylor was able to take the punches of Regis Progray,
17:25 of Jose Ramirez, and actually put Ramirez down twice,
17:28 so both have power, both have skill,
17:31 both coming off of lackluster wins.
17:34 That's what makes tonight's main event so interesting,
17:37 and this fight is interesting because Damian Caneva
17:39 wants to finish this fight.
17:41 >> Should end it right now.
17:42 >> Yes.
17:43 He's sizing up Helaman Olguin.
17:48 >> Why would you let him out of the corner there?
17:50 >> Because you're tired and you're big.
17:53 >> Who's more tired?
17:57 >> It would seem Olguin has taken more punches,
18:00 and I heard the referee, Shaddam Murdagh,
18:04 say that there was a cut on the left eye of Olguin,
18:08 and that was due to an accidental headbutt.
18:10 >> Once again, he let him off the ropes, Bernardo.
18:19 I don't get it.
18:22 >> That was a nice right-left combination,
18:24 and this is where Caneva needs to take advantage.
18:27 >> He has distance, he's got everything he wants.
18:34 Go!
18:35 >> And in the corner, they yell to Caneva,
18:37 "Don't let him off."
18:38 And there it is, that right hand,
18:40 and here is Caneva's right hand.
18:42 >> Caneva's right hand.
18:43 >> Caneva's right hand.
18:44 >> Caneva's right hand.
18:45 >> Caneva's right hand.
18:46 >> Caneva's right hand.
18:47 >> Caneva's right hand.
18:48 >> Caneva's right hand.
18:49 >> Caneva's right hand.
18:50 >> And here, if he just lets his hands go,
18:52 he's gonna make Shadow Murdoch make a decision here
18:55 if he keeps snapping the head back like that.
18:57 >> Let him out, let him out, don't do that, don't do that.
18:59 >> See, he's not the guy who's supposed to be
19:02 clenching and holding in that instance.
19:05 He's supposed to be the guy who keeps throwing.
19:07 >> You know, Bernardo, while there's a break in the action,
19:16 there's a rumor that it's your 28th birthday today.
19:20 >> 29 to be exact, but...
19:22 In the business.
19:24 >> Nah.
19:27 You're a source of eternal youth and life.
19:30 >> I owe it to my wife and my kids.
19:33 >> Nice body shot.
19:40 >> Here's my question, as Caneva moves up the ranks.
19:43 If he's tired now, I mean, why is he hugging?
19:48 >> Because he's tired, that's all he knows to do.
19:50 >> He's only gonna get tireder as he moves up.
19:53 >> Mark, you cannot use the word "tireder".
19:58 >> I can't.
19:59 >> Other people can use it, but Mark Criggle is not allowed.
20:02 >> More tired, Dad.
20:06 >> Yo, he's ready to go.
20:07 He's ready to go right now.
20:15 Test him with the jab, sharp jab, hard jab.
20:17 Right hand to the body.
20:18 Up and down with the body, but be smart, all right?
20:21 You can get him out of here.
20:23 He's ready to go.
20:24 All right, get some more water.
20:25 >> Thank you.
20:27 >> Keep turning. This is easy now.
20:33 He's ready to go.
20:35 Work off your jab.
20:39 Show me the hook, show me.
20:40 Right hand, be smart.
20:42 All right?
20:44 >> I'm okay.
20:45 >> Get the word.
20:47 Get it.
20:49 >> That's like Mark Criggle after the fight.
20:52 "No, I don't want any water."
20:54 All right.
20:58 Damien Caneva's corner wants him to go finish him off
21:01 as Olguin gets looked at by the doctor.
21:03 The doctor sends him out.
21:05 Shadow Murdoch immediately wants to know how he's doing
21:10 and everything okay.
21:12 >> Box.
21:13 >> Bernardo Osuna alongside Mark Criggle.
21:16 Round six of a scheduled eight-round fight
21:19 in the heavyweight division.
21:21 And then, Olguin taking some heavy leather
21:26 from Damien Caneva, who just can't seem to put
21:29 the finishing touches on this fight.
21:31 >> It's kind of what we saw last time.
21:33 I mean, you know,
21:37 Sean George said all the right things in the corner,
21:40 but I felt like I'd seen that movie before.
21:42 The previous round, the previous round,
21:44 the previous round.
21:45 >> No punch, no punch, no punch, no punch.
21:46 >> He is ready to go.
21:47 And if Caneva wants to get to this place
21:50 where he thinks he belongs,
21:53 at least someone in the top rankings he belongs,
21:56 he should start doing it.
21:57 >> He earned the technical knockout win
22:04 in the eighth round in his last fight
22:06 against Curtis Harper,
22:07 but it would seem that these wins should come
22:10 somewhat earlier based on his athletic--
22:13 his athletic ability and power.
22:15 >> I feel like we're seeing a very similar fight.
22:18 And if this is-- this is the pattern,
