Taco Bell Goes Vegan

  • last year
Taco Bell announced it will sell a vegan version of its popular Crunchwrap in Los Angeles, New York, and Orlando for a limited time, as these cities have high vegan populations. The Vegan Crunchwrap is made with plant-based beef and cheese derived from pea protein and soy, tested previously in the chain's Crispy Melt Taco. The vegan meat and cheese won't be available as substitutes for other menu items during the trial. Despite slowing consumer interest in plant-based meat, Taco Bell sees offering affordable vegan and vegetarian items as a priority. Although the chain has tested Beyond Meat products in the past, it has yet to progress beyond the testing stage for plant-based meat options.
