00:00 Hi everyone, I'm Courtney Bright. I'm the social and digital media editor at American Salon.
00:05 We are live in New York. It is fashion week and we are taking over.
00:09 By we I mean myself. We have Jenny Strebe who is also Confessions of a Hair Stylist.
00:13 Hey guys!
00:14 And I have celebrity stylist Tracy Barrett.
00:16 Hi guys!
00:17 And we are getting ready for fashion week today.
00:20 Jenny's going to be doing a how-to tutorial on me, but first Tracy's going to be styling Jenny's hair for the day.
00:25 Yay!
00:26 But before we get started, we want to give a special thank you to Redken for sponsoring Jenny and us this weekend for fashion week.
00:33 So I'm going to step out and I'll see you guys in a few.
00:36 Yes, thank you Redken so much.
00:37 Thanks Redken.
00:38 It has been such a blast and I can't wait for today.
00:40 So definitely check us out on Snapchat because I'm taking over all weekend.
00:44 So Tracy's actually one of my good friends and I never get my hair done you guys.
00:49 So I thought what a perfect opportunity to have some fun that we're at New York Fashion Week.
00:54 So I'm just going to go ahead and let Tracy do her thing.
00:57 And yeah, I hope you guys enjoy this hair how-to.
01:00 Hi guys, I'm Tracy Barrett.
01:02 I'm so happy to be here with American Salon and thank you to Redken for sponsoring this and my good friend Jenny Strebe with Confessions.
01:09 We've been super inspired by 90s lately, hence the chokers we're all wearing and I'm sure all you girls are.
01:15 So we wanted to kind of mix it up and do something with a little 90s nod with a modern twist.
01:21 So we found this old reference photo of Drew Barrymore when she had that kind of loose texture.
01:28 I think it probably was a spiral perm.
01:31 So I'm doing kind of a nod to that.
01:35 I've already started the back as you can see.
01:38 And what I'm doing is just taking horizontal sections, moving up the head and then just grabbing them vertically.
01:45 I'm doing it a little visually right now.
01:47 I don't want it to get too tight.
01:49 So I think I did maybe two vertical sections in the bottom and then I'm just wrapping it around the barrel.
01:56 I'm not closing the barrel because I want to have that modern edge with leaving the ends out a little bit.
02:02 So let me continue and I'll show you guys what I'm doing.
02:05 Here's the size of my iron.
02:09 I'm going to use the Redken heat protectant.
02:14 Yeah, you want to hold it?
02:20 So I'm just working up the back of the head.
02:25 The sections are definitely bigger than my barrel.
02:27 Like I said, I don't want it to get too tight and kinky.
02:30 I want to have that looser texture.
02:33 A lot of heat protectant.
02:35 I turned the iron down since her hair is previously lightened.
02:43 And then I'm allowing myself, well first of all I'm keeping it a little bit off the root also because I just don't want it to turn into like an afro.
02:51 And then I'm wrapping it really loosely around the barrel with the ends out and I'm not trying to flat wrap it necessarily.
02:58 I'm allowing it to twist just because I want more of that unpredictable fun texture.
03:03 And below the occipital I was rolling them all kind of the same direction but now I'm going to start alternating just because I want it to be a little more fun.
03:13 What I love about this is it's going to kind of give it that modern feel of a perm, right?
03:23 Yeah, totally.
03:25 I feel like curls are on their way back.
03:27 I mean they kind of have been but I mean you can't really get perms as much these days just because we use so much color.
03:37 Whereas I feel like in the 80s and 90s you could do it a little bit.
03:41 I mean what do you think about that?
03:42 Like it's hard, right?
03:43 I mean people request perms but we all do so much coloring to our hair.
03:47 They, I don't know.
03:49 I mean this is a really fun way just to kind of do it with the iron temporarily.
03:53 Just have fun for the day.
03:55 Yeah, without that commitment.
03:56 Yeah, I think with all of the crazy colored hair, you know, hair is too chemically textured really essentially to do a perm.
04:04 You know, you definitely have to have like more of a natural tone or light highlights or something.
04:09 Totally.
04:10 So again, just repeating kind of what I just did.
04:14 I can't wait to brush this out, you guys.
04:18 It's going to be so cool.
04:20 So she's using the Iron Shape 11 which is a heat protectant in there.
04:32 I definitely need some heat protection while she is curling my hair due to the color.
04:38 So yeah, allow the ends to kind of twist up a little bit.
04:43 Sometimes, usually I like to keep it really clean when I'm doing iron wraps.
04:47 But for this, I do kind of want it to be a little, like I'm just allowing the hair to twist as I twist it up.
04:54 And then I may like let that kink up.
04:58 This one went under.
05:15 So Tracy, what kind of prep would be involved in this?
05:18 So like my hair is very fine.
05:20 It curls very well.
05:21 But say someone that doesn't have as much texture of the hair and what would they prep in their hair?
05:29 What would they put in it to help hold the curls?
05:32 Yeah, that's a good question.
05:34 What do you think?
05:36 Fair, fair enough.
05:40 Well, I mean definitely something to give it texture like mousse, like something with kind of a hold.
05:44 Yeah, totally.
05:46 Like a gel.
05:47 Today we used the High Rise Volume.
05:50 So I used this in my hair to pre-prep it.
05:53 So that definitely was root to end to help give it some hold by Redken.
05:57 But you know, I think it's important when people have hair that just won't hold a curl to add some kind of something in there.
06:06 You know, like mousse, even spray gel.
06:09 Salt sprays are great.
06:11 This primer was awesome.
06:12 It definitely gave me some volume and a good texture to it.
06:15 That's a really good thing to bring up actually because Jenny's hair obviously does hold a curl really well.
06:23 So this is a really great style for her.
06:25 But yes, if you don't have Jenny's texture, definitely create some texture in your prep.
06:30 I'm being mindful of the crown right now.
06:40 The crown is fairly short.
06:43 So I don't, I just don't want it to get too kinky.
06:47 So I'm going to keep it off the root up here.
06:50 Do the same wrap in.
06:52 But I'm kind of wrapping it a little bit more down whereas the bottom I was allowing it to go a little more up.
06:59 If that makes any sense.
07:07 And I'm going to do the root all in the same direction just because I don't want it to get too crazy.
07:11 So just wrapping everything this way and down.
07:16 I'm kind of visually taking my sections also.
07:23 Just because with curls it's like I feel like it's nice to just kind of see what's happening.
07:29 I'm a very visual hairstylist.
07:35 I think that it's important to have a solid technique and foundation and training.
07:39 And then from there, once you have the basics mastered, then I feel like it's kind of free reign to use more of your artistry.
07:47 Okay, so I'm going to let that rest.
07:50 And we have a question.
07:52 Gregory asked what heat setting are you using?
07:54 I'm doing 350.
07:56 I think.
07:58 So on this it's at number 7.
08:02 On a hot tool it's at number 7.
08:05 But definitely if your hair is more curl resistant you can turn it up a little bit.
08:13 Yeah, turn it up for sure.
08:14 But since my hair is in a somewhat fragile state, we don't want to turn up the heat too much.
08:20 And it curls so well.
08:22 I mean these curls will probably last all day.
08:25 Oh yeah, for sure.
08:26 Same sectioning in the front, horizontals.
08:32 Yeah, the other side.
08:34 And I think...
08:39 I think on the sides to keep it a little modern, I think I'm just going to roll everything away.
08:45 I want her to have a really versatile parting.
08:48 So if she wants to flip it to either side.
08:50 So I'm going to roll everything back.
09:00 Again, keeping it off the root.
09:01 You could wrap this all the way to the root.
09:04 It would just give it a much stronger look.
09:07 A lot more volume.
09:09 So say someone's hair isn't as chemically textured as mine.
09:24 Is there anything you do differently with the prep?
09:27 We're using heat styling or a heat protectant on me.
09:30 But maybe someone that has curl resistant hair probably uses a hairspray for example.
09:37 Yeah, definitely.
09:39 Because the truth of the matter is that anything, not anything, but a lot of things can act as a heat protectant.
09:46 Some are more protective than others.
09:49 Like this Redken one is specifically designed to be a heat protectant.
09:53 But if you need a little bit more hold and your hair isn't processed, then use something like a hairspray.
10:01 Because the idea of a heat protectant is just to create a barrier between the hair and the heat being applied.
10:07 So you're burning off the hairspray essentially before you burn the hair.
10:11 So it's completely fine to use a hairspray that will give it a lot more hold.
10:16 And backstage we use hairsprays a lot.
10:19 We want that rougher texture, we want a little bit more hold.
10:24 So that's a great idea.
10:26 Jenny, bring that up.
10:28 You know, not everyone has my chemically textured hair.
10:34 [Laughter]
10:35 Ooh, look. I am so excited you guys.
10:40 I'm pretty sure yesterday I said I've always wanted a fro.
10:44 So this is my fro.
10:45 Yeah, this is going to be, I mean, I'm so jealous.
10:48 My hair, you guys, if you saw it down, is already kind of a fro.
10:52 I could never pull this off. Jenny has the coolest hair all the time.
10:56 Oh, and don't forget to spray it.
10:58 Thanks.
11:11 So what I love about this, you guys, is we're here at New York Fashion Week.
11:15 Today, Courtney and I are going to be running around all over the place.
11:19 And I wanted to have fun hair, you know, kind of fit the part.
11:22 I'm just going to wear all black, but I feel like our hair is our biggest accessory, you know, for hairstylists.
11:29 So I feel like it's definitely going to, like, make my outfit stand out a little bit more with having kind of wild hair.
11:36 I can't wait to show you guys a knotted faux hop on Courtney because, you know, she's very cute.
11:43 She is very fashion forward, but we're going to give her a little bit of edge today.
11:48 So, again, hair is your biggest accessory, so it's definitely going to make her outfit look a little bit more edgy.
11:55 This is also, since we're in New York, this is going to be a great style since it's very humid here right now.
12:01 So her hair, being styled curly, is only going to get better and better throughout the day.
12:06 I mean, the more humidity, the more the curl is going to perk up. It's going to be fabulous.
12:11 That's a great point.
12:13 I'm considering leaving the fringe. We'll see, but I kind of like what's happening right here.
12:19 Maybe not, but let's just see. So I'm going to leave it for a second.
12:24 I'm going to move to this side.
12:26 Oh my gosh, I'm so excited.
12:33 It's always so fun to do these creative hairstyles on, you know, fun hair colors, too.
12:45 You can really see the texture.
12:48 And for those of us just joining, what is that you're spraying?
12:53 I'm spraying in the Redken Heat Protective Spray, Iron Shape 11.
13:01 Okay, again, just doing the same thing on the other side, being aware that I'm rolling everything away from the face to keep it modern.
13:09 Twist wrapping instead of flat wrapping, keeping it off the root.
13:26 If you're just joining, we're here live at New York Fashion Week, and we are doing something with kind of more of an editorial feel today.
13:37 I said earlier in the broadcast, but if you're just joining, just a reminder, we were really inspired by this '90s Drew Barrymore picture we found online.
13:46 So we're kind of doing a modern twist on Jenny's hair.
13:50 Sorry about that.
13:52 With a nod to that Drew Barrymore picture. It's so cool.
13:56 I mean, don't Google it now, because you should keep watching what we're doing, but afterwards, you can look up '90s Drew Barrymore here, and you'll see what I'm saying.
14:06 I'll post it on American Salon Snap too, if you guys want to reference that.
14:20 You know, I think it's important to discuss with this '90s kind of inspired Drew Barrymore look, Tracy's putting a modern edge to it, so it's going to be really, really strong.
14:31 We definitely see trends come and go, but what's really cool about that, you always find a twist and modernize that.
14:38 So this is going to kind of give it a modern twist to an old perm, like we were talking about.
14:44 So I'm really excited. I never get to have my hair done, so this will be perfect for New York Fashion Week.
14:49 And I'm glad you brought that up, because there's a few points to that.
14:52 One is, as a hairstylist, you'll always go back to the basics.
14:56 When we were talking about this hairstyle last night, and kind of thinking, like, how should we approach it, and what should we do,
15:02 Jenny immediately said, you know, we should section the back, bric-lay it like a perm, and I was just like, yes, that's a no-brainer, because we do want that perm feel.
15:12 The trick is, though, is exactly what she's saying, is that you want to create, give it the modern edge, though.
15:18 I didn't want to copy exactly what Drew's hair was in that picture.
15:22 I mean, that wouldn't be modern, you know, it's been done.
15:24 So how do we change it? Well, the way that I'm changing it is I'm wrapping it around the iron, the way we're all doing in the salon right now.
15:30 We love this, right? Our clients love it. It's creating that loose texture that everybody wants, leaving the ends out.
15:39 So, but I'm sectioning it like a perm, and then obviously using a really tiny barrel.
15:46 What is this, three-quarters, I think?
15:48 I think it's half-inch.
15:49 Yeah?
15:50 I mean, that's how long it's been since I've used that bad boy, right?
15:55 I don't know if I'm going to leave the fringe out, but I don't know, I'm kind of liking it.
16:08 She's been, she has kind of like this, you would?
16:12 Yeah, so I can like do, flip it around.
16:15 Okay, all right, we're going to curl it.
16:17 I'm like one of those clients, you guys.
16:20 You know how it is to do another hairdresser's hair.
16:22 Yeah, I'm sorry, Tracy.
16:24 No, it's fine.
16:25 And Tracy just happens to be one of my best friends, so, you know.
16:29 So Gregory has a comment and a question.
16:32 Hi, Gregory.
16:33 I never worn curls in my youth and spent so many years relaxing and flat ironing my natural curls.
16:38 Now my curling iron and I are best friends. Do you have any modern tips for styling natural curls?
16:45 Hmm, good question, Gregory.
16:47 Styling natural curls, I mean, I love using a curl enhancer.
16:51 I guess it's hard to say because I feel like I would have to see your curls and know what style you wanted to achieve.
16:57 But there's so many great curl enhancing products now, which is awesome.
17:02 So you can essentially, your curls, um, however you want.
17:07 Do you have any tips for that, Jenny?
17:08 It's a hard question.
17:09 Oh, yes, I do.
17:10 [Laughter]
17:12 Yes, I do.
17:13 I love when, okay, so when you wash your hair and condition it, right,
17:18 you've got to be careful when you towel dry because you can't, um, do it roughly
17:23 or you're going to cause a lot of friction to it, right?
17:25 So kind of scrunching it, but going through, like Tracy said, with a curl enhancer.
17:30 But what I like to do is take half inch to three quarter inch sections and twist it.
17:36 Twist sections going away and forward, away and forward.
17:40 Because that curl enhancement is really going to help, um, accentuate the curl.
17:45 It's going to tame flyaways and frizz because essentially you're using that curl enhancement,
17:49 you're twisting the hair, and then kind of like scrunching at it.
17:53 You can use like a diffuser if you'd like.
17:55 But when you twist it, it almost locks the curl together,
17:58 therefore giving you more definition to curls.
18:01 So, um, that's been my favorite trick.
18:03 And then if you want to kind of have a little bit more of a polished curl look,
18:07 you can go through it, even if it's just that top layer of hair.
18:10 Take your one inch curling iron or whatever size curling iron you want
18:14 and then wrap it around the curls too, just to give it a little bit more definition.
18:18 But I love twisting it in with a little bit of curl enhancement
18:21 just to give it a little bit more polished feel to it.
18:24 Yeah, the twisting is great.
18:27 So, um, being mindful of the fringe and face framing,
18:35 you know, I'm going to shake this out and then again just kind of see what's happening visually
18:41 with the curl pattern in the front.
18:44 It's okay to change things, you know, keep that in mind.
18:47 It's like you can break the rules.
18:49 If I curl this front area a certain way and then I start visually getting in there with my hands
18:53 and I want to change it, don't be scared.
18:56 Are you guys liking it so far?
19:00 So fun, right?
19:01 So fun!
19:02 Alright.
19:05 I'm just going to rake through it with my fingers first.
19:10 I've been really loving brushing out curls lately with my mason,
19:16 but with this look, I feel like I just want to do it with my hands.
19:20 I want the curl, like this whole thing that's happening, I want that separation.
19:25 So I don't want to brush it out too much,
19:28 but then what's going to happen is more of a retro feel
19:33 because it's all going to become one pattern,
19:35 which is a good tip if you want to do retro waves.
19:37 That's not what I want to do today though.
19:39 I want that like spiral perm feel.
19:42 Look how fun this is.
19:43 Oh my gosh, I'm loving this so much.
19:45 I hope you guys are loving this.
19:51 Yeah, so I want her to be able to move the part in any direction.
19:58 I totally have, I look like I have a perm, I love it.
20:01 Oh my gosh.
20:02 I'm so obsessed with this right now.
20:04 So the finishing is everything, guys.
20:06 So, you know, I like to spend time with my finishing
20:11 and just kind of see what's going to visually happen throughout the day with her.
20:17 I might put in some hair powder at the root.
20:25 Do I look like Drew Barrymore?
20:36 Yeah, you look so much cooler than her actually right now because her hair is purple.
20:41 What do you guys think?
20:44 Are you loving this?
20:45 I'm kind of obsessing over this.
20:47 What I love about New York Fashion Week, like it's the time to get creative
20:52 and have a lot of fun with it, you know, and like self-expression.
20:55 Because, you know, normally I probably wouldn't wear this like on an everyday basis,
21:00 but it's Fashion Week, like have fun, you know?
21:03 Exactly.
21:04 Exactly.
21:05 We wanted to do something, you know, different and inspiring.
21:10 And oh my gosh, how could this not be?
21:13 Like I feel like it's just kind of everything right now.
21:19 I don't know.
21:20 I kind of wanted to use a little hair powder.
21:22 I might use a little, but like look at this volume already.
21:25 Like it's so--oh my gosh, it's so good.
21:29 Okay, so Power Grip, Redken, a little at the root.
21:41 I love hair powders.
21:42 I really love this one.
21:44 It's really strong.
21:46 It's going to give us that fun volume at the root.
21:54 I also feel like it helps to kind of keep the hair together and uniform.
22:00 I really want to put some right in the hairline just because it's going to help
22:04 so that these pieces don't become so separated.
22:08 And her part really wants to fight us right now, and I feel like just even the
22:13 tiniest bit of hair powder will create a more uniform section in the front.
22:23 And Gina's asking, "Is there a better curl for different face shapes?
22:27 I'm round and feel curls can make my face shape too pronounced."
22:32 More volume up top.
22:33 Yeah.
22:34 The way to like make your--so everyone--like the ideal face shape is oval, right?
22:41 Like everyone wants to look a little elongated.
22:44 So if you have more volume on top versus width on the sides,
22:49 we'll make that face shape elongated, therefore making a more oval appearance.
22:53 You can also do a little bit of like pieces around the face to kind of slim
22:58 down the face as well.
23:00 But I think round faces are cute just so you know, you know,
23:04 but ideally you want to add a little bit more volume.
23:07 Yeah, totally.
23:08 I mean that's what everybody--she's writing in the book says that everybody's
23:11 trying to achieve the oval face, which is super rare, by the way, you know.
23:16 So most of us have--I have a really round face, so it's like I always wear my hair
23:21 vertical, like something going up.
23:23 Same kind of idea.
23:25 This is so dope.
23:28 So, yeah, so I could keep going on and playing with this forever,
23:32 and I actually kind of want to, but, you know, they have to go to shows
23:36 and things need to happen.
23:38 So here's our modern Drew Barrymore '90s inspired set.
23:45 Did you guys like it?
23:46 I love it.
23:47 It's so fun for today.
23:48 Oh, my gosh, it's so fun.
23:49 Thank you, Ms. Tracy Barrett.
23:51 Thank you, and you can find my Instagram and Snapchat at @drewbarrett.
23:56 Instagram and Snapchat at @tracybarrett, Tracy spelled with an I.
24:00 Thank you so much for watching.
24:02 And you guys, stay tuned because I'm actually going to do a hair tutorial
24:05 on Kourtney Bright.
24:07 We're going to do a knotted faux hawk, so it's definitely going to be a lot of fun.
24:10 It's going to be definitely edgy.
24:12 Thank you, Tracy Barrett.
24:13 Thank you so much.
24:14 Thank you, guys.
24:15 Happy Fashion Week.
24:21 Hi, everyone.
24:22 So for those of you that are just joining us, I'm Kourtney Bright.
24:25 I'm a social and digital mediator at American Salon.
24:28 I am here with Jenny Strebe.
24:30 We are taking over Fashion Week.
24:32 Thank you, Redken, for allowing this to happen.
24:34 And if you guys are just tuning in, you can re-watch Jenny's curls on replay
24:39 once this Facebook Live ends.
24:41 But we're going to continue because Jenny's going to give me a really awesome
24:44 faux hawk, and I'm super excited.
24:46 It's a little bit out of my comfort zone, but I trust her.
24:49 We're going to do it right now?
24:50 Yeah.
24:51 Awesome.
24:52 I apologize.
24:53 I would have changed.
24:54 Thank you, guys.
24:55 So Kourtney is cute as can be, right?
24:58 And she wore this Free People choker, which gives her a little bit of edge.
25:02 So I wanted to show you guys how to do a really kind of editorial kind of feel,
25:07 but in a matter of minutes.
25:08 So sometimes with editorial looks, you don't have to make them too complicated.
25:14 You can actually simplify them.
25:16 So what we're going to do is create kind of a coif in the top,
25:19 so a little pompadour, and then we're going to create a knotting technique
25:22 all the way from crown to the nape of the neck.
25:25 She likes a little bit of hair around her face,
25:28 so we're going to give it kind of more of a wispy kind of feel to it
25:31 rather than very slick.
25:33 So what we're going to do is I'm going to grab my bobby pins here,
25:39 and this is going to be really, really easy, you guys.
25:46 Actually, have you hold this.
25:51 All right, so I'm going to turn her.
25:52 So first what we're going to do is our pomp, right?
25:55 So what I like to do is do a triangle section.
25:58 Anytime you're doing a triangle inside the hair,
26:02 it just makes it flow with the head shape a lot better.
26:05 So we're taking it at the crown to high recession on both sides.
26:20 So this is going to be our first sectioning.
26:29 Okay, so you guys see this triangle section?
26:32 Go ahead and look down.
26:33 That's going to be our first sectioning.
26:35 So what we're going to go ahead and do now is we're going to tease inside
26:39 that triangle section and pull it back.
26:41 So all of this is going to be clipped away on the sides here.
26:51 All right.
26:58 So now we're just going to take horizontal sections.
27:01 Go ahead and put your head back.
27:02 Horizontal sections and do a light teasing.
27:11 Because we're definitely going for that editorial kind of edgy feel, right?
27:22 Okay.
27:25 So now we're going to pull it back.
27:27 And where that tip of the triangle is,
27:29 is that's where we're actually going to go ahead and pin it into place.
27:32 We're going to worry about the front here momentarily,
27:35 but we're going to go ahead and pin it into place
27:38 and then work our knotting technique all the way from crown to the nape of the neck.
27:46 Okay.
27:47 So how I like to secure this and then make sure that we have some volume
27:51 is I like to slightly twist it.
27:54 So twist it and then push it up.
27:57 We're going to push it up and then bobby pin it into place.
28:03 Going to put two just in case here.
28:09 We want it to last all day because we have a lot of running around to all the fashion shows.
28:15 Okay.
28:16 So that's our first section.
28:19 Now we're going to incorporate hair into that and then start our knotting technique.
28:28 So we're going to just take horizontal sections on each side here.
28:36 We're going to grab that hair from our poof there, incorporate that.
28:42 And now we're just going to do our basic knot.
28:44 So again, how we were talking about kind of like doing things that are trending,
28:50 like '90s inspired, but putting a modern twist, this is just that.
28:54 So back in the '90s, like knots were very popular when they did them everywhere or space buns, right?
29:01 So we're going to go ahead and do a knot, but creating that faux hawk feel is definitely more modern.
29:07 So we're taking the section, doing a light twisting, then pulling the hair through,
29:13 just creating a basic knot.
29:15 So this is going to be really simple, you guys.
29:17 I kind of like-- I'm going to do a little tighter because I kind of want some of the ends to come out.
29:22 The reason for it, I feel like it gives it kind of a modern edge,
29:25 but it still keeps it '90s because they had those straight ends coming out.
29:30 So we're going to do our knot and then secure it into place.
29:36 Taking our bobby pin here, probably a couple.
29:46 Pulling it out. Perfect.
29:48 So now we're going to do the same thing, taking just horizontal sections, pulling it back.
30:00 And all we're doing is knots, you guys. Super easy.
30:03 Again, this is really easy but really effective.
30:10 So we're just going to go ahead and do a knot right below this knot, just pulling it through.
30:21 And what's great about this, too-- so Courtney has a little bit of-- her hair's a little bit dirty,
30:26 but that's perfect because it gives us the nice texture to it that we need.
30:30 So we're doing just another knot here.
30:48 Okay. So we're going to do two more knots.
30:57 And for those of you that are just joining us, Jenny and I are taking on Fashion Week.
31:01 Thank you to Redken.
31:03 And we've got a busy, busy day ahead, and we are actually getting ready in Jenny's hotel room.
31:08 We're having like a girls' morning while we get ready.
31:11 And if you missed Jenny's tutorial, you can re-watch this video once the live ends,
31:16 and you can see how she got her look step by step and the products that were used.
31:25 Okay. So these layers are a little shorter, so I'm going to actually do a pretty tight twist to get into our knot.
31:31 And then we're not going to have many hairs to kind of stick out, but that's okay.
31:40 Yeah, you guys, so definitely check us out.
31:44 We're going to do some more Facebook Lives.
31:46 Definitely get ready with us tomorrow as well.
31:48 We're going to do completely new hairstyles tomorrow.
31:51 Definitely very fashion-forward, just more editorial.
31:55 And then today, definitely doing lots of Instagram Stories, and then I'm taking over Snapchat.
32:01 So we have a lot of New York Fashion Week shows to go to, so definitely make sure to tune in.
32:08 It's going to be so fun.
32:09 And you can see if our hair holds up throughout the day.
32:19 Okay. One more knot down here.
32:21 I'm actually going to use a little bit of Pellow Proof dry shampoo for a little bit of texture down here.
32:39 Just creating our knot.
32:41 The hairs are a little too short to weave the ends through, but that's okay.
32:45 We're just doing like a knot.
32:58 Again, really easy, very effective.
33:12 Okay. So looking at it, so I always like to look at the profile.
33:17 You can see that it's really high here, but there's not very much volume extending from here.
33:22 So what I'm going to do is hold on to where we initially twisted it, hold on to it, and then pull it forward.
33:28 But prior to doing so, we're going to go ahead and use our dry shampoo, our Pellow Proof.
33:36 We're going to spray it aggressively, and then holding on to our twist and really pulling it through,
33:45 like forward, kind of extending from the head.
33:49 It's going to help give it kind of more of that editorial, like wispy vibe.
33:53 You know, we want edgy, but we still want it to be kind of fun and flirty for Courtney, because that's more her style.
34:00 So then we're going to go ahead and use some hairspray to kind of lock that into place,
34:05 kind of pulling that forward, hairspraying it.
34:09 Now looking at the profile, I'm going to kind of pull on these knots a little bit more
34:14 to make it a little bit kind of more full, kind of big.
34:19 Looking in the front here.
34:30 I kind of like the little wispies.
34:33 We're going to go ahead and add a little bit more of the Pellow Proof, the dry shampoo on the sides,
34:39 and then I'm just going to lightly massage it with the palms of my hands just to create more of a wispy feel to it,
34:45 and that is about it.
34:47 So I feel like with this, it's definitely very edgy because we have that faux hawk shape to it,
34:53 but then if you look at it through the front, it's kind of like airy and almost looks like an updo.
34:58 So I think it's perfect for Courtney because she, you know, is so cute.
35:02 Thank you!
35:03 I'm so excited!
