00:00 Hey there, so we're at the First Experience Bar and this is Shelly.
00:05 Oh, I have hair in Shelly's hair.
00:08 So, we're putting curls all into Shelly's hair and we're doing it away so that it'll last longer.
00:15 So now a lot of my clients have weddings, proms, special events,
00:20 so they want to make sure their curls last maybe 8 hours, 10 hours, it's a long time.
00:27 So, her hair is straight, Shelly's hair is definitely straight,
00:32 and I'm putting the curl in and then what I do is I spray the curl.
00:38 This is the Perfecto Total Solution.
00:41 I spray the entire curl and then all I do is twist the curl around my hand,
00:47 tuck that little end in, you don't have to be very neat about it,
00:50 and you use what are called pin curl clips and you clip it.
00:53 So, I already have been moving around the head, have half of it done,
00:57 so it wouldn't take so long to show you, but I start at the top for the curl.
01:02 The Perfecto is always held vertically, not horizontally, and this way it never gets caught in the hair.
01:08 So, her hair is super straight, so I wrap it around and I sit there for 5 or 10 seconds to get it bending.
01:14 The straighter your hair is, the more resistant it wants to be.
01:18 You can see how her hair is still straight.
01:20 And so we're going to just work that around.
01:23 I'm just curling and pulling down, but still each time I pull I'm waiting because her hair is super straight.
01:30 And wait for a second, twist and you're just twisting and pulling down.
01:35 See those little ends? I can't burn her or me, so I'm going to make sure I have it sitting in there.
01:41 And then I get that perfect curl.
01:44 So then you get sprayed all over the curl and all over Erica who's putting the video together.
01:51 And then just twist that little end in and pop it.
01:56 So, I have a couple more sections here to do.
02:00 And then, all depending how, if your hair is really long, you know, the weight of your hair pulls on the curl.
02:08 So, I would suggest that you curl your hair.
02:11 I would say the night before. And curl your hair when you get up for whatever event you're going to.
02:16 You're going to always comb through to make sure that her hair is not pulling through product.
02:22 You are going to the next morning, curl each section, spray and pin it off.
02:28 And then what you do is do your makeup from there, you can get dressed from there.
02:34 You know, the longer you leave it in, the more it's settled.
02:37 These are really straight, so I'm staying on them just a little bit longer.
02:41 See that curl? And then once I got that curl in, get some spray on there and clip it off.
02:48 So, I'm doing a lot of tiny sections because we're going to go for a little more curl.
02:53 But you could do the same technique with one big section.
02:58 You could take one big section and do the same technique and spray it and clip it for just waves.
03:05 So, like on her, I've done, you know, probably almost 20 sections.
03:10 That's because we're going for a little more curl.
03:13 But if you want more wave, you just do half as many.
03:17 So, you always start at the top and you pull your way down for these type of curls.
03:23 As long as the perfector is coming down, you can never get it caught.
03:30 It's when you start moving in the upwards direction that the hair can start getting in between the teeth.
03:35 Like any brush, obviously.
03:37 Let's put this one in, too.
03:41 And then what we'll do is because that side on the other side has been sitting for, I guess this has taken me about 15 minutes total, would you say?
03:51 Ten.
03:52 Ten, 15 minutes?
03:53 Yeah.
03:54 So, this has all been sitting for 10 minutes.
03:56 So, I'm going to go ahead and drop that.
03:58 And like I said, just leave it in longer if your hair really doesn't want to curl.
04:06 And then get those ends in there.
04:07 Sometimes we rush through things and then we don't give the hair enough heat to do its curling.
04:17 You're like, "I do that. I do that."
04:20 I do it all the time.
04:22 That's one thing, though.
04:23 If you're a little short on time and you do this technique, if you rush through but you're setting it like this, you're kind of making up for the curl.
04:34 Making sure that the curl lasts.
04:36 So, you don't want to go up at it, right?
04:38 As long as you are coming down this way and you keep it vertical like this, it really can't get caught in here, right?
04:44 It's not tugging you or anything.
04:45 I told you earlier how gentle you were.
04:48 At least the two's going to fall asleep.
04:52 It happens all the time when you're getting your hair done.
04:55 Get those ends a little better.
04:58 So, you can see how straight your hair is.
05:00 So, you're going to want to make sure that those ends get in there.
05:04 See those ends?
05:09 I'm just going to sit them there for a second.
05:10 You'll see I'll get a much better curl this time.
05:13 Spread it back.
05:20 Twist it up.
05:21 If you want to get those ends in, you can leave them out too because that's quite a look that's happening right now.
05:26 Alright, Miss Erica, we're going to go to the other side and drop some of these.
05:29 So, they're still setting, but look at what we got over here because this has been in here for about 10 minutes.
05:35 A nice strong curl.
05:38 Wow.
05:40 Much stronger curl.
05:41 That's so pretty.
05:42 Yeah.
05:44 You can also, when you get it in there, sometimes what I do when they're in there is I'll miss the whole thing one time too.
05:51 So, these curls are much stronger.
05:59 Again, go ahead and leave them in.
06:01 Do your makeup.
06:02 Get dressed.
06:03 If you have, you know, especially nowadays with weddings and stuff.
06:07 And also, if you have, you know, you want to put your hair up, this is a great way to get a much stronger curl pattern.
06:17 See, now all I have to do is bring it through that.
06:19 Straight to curly.
06:31 And it's going to last.
06:35 Alright, we're going to take the other side down so that you can see the total look.
06:38 See, these curls are much springier.
06:41 I just pull them out like that so that the spiral comes out.
06:58 So, I take the clip and kind of pull them down.
07:01 Well, you don't have to set it long.
07:04 No, I mean, but the longer you set, the more you're going to have a much longer lasting curl.
07:10 I will say that.
07:11 But no, even if you're doing this, it's a good thing to do even if you're not going to leave it in that long.
07:17 So, from here, I'm going to take the Velcro aerosol.
07:22 It's going to go up.
07:23 So, I can run that in if I want, section by section.
07:28 Give it some more volume.
07:34 There we go.
07:35 There we go. Now I've got some curls.
07:47 Even some of that one is kind of great.
07:59 Texture that a little bit.
08:02 It's getting full.
08:03 If your hair is real slippery and it doesn't have the texture, it's nice to get a little embellish in there to give it a better, thicker texture.
08:12 And then just set it out for her, just to give it a modern look.
08:25 There we go.
08:30 Let's see.
08:31 Oh, it's beautiful.
08:37 Nice and bouncy. That means they're going to last.
08:44 Sexy.
08:46 Bye.
08:48 Bye!
