How to Recreate Emma Stone's Golden Globes Hair and Makeup

00:00 Hey Total Beauties, it's Mary here and last night was the Golden Globes as you probably
00:09 are aware.
00:10 So we have got Eric and Nicole from Glam Squad LA here.
00:16 Eric is the lead hairstylist, Nicole is the lead makeup artist, and so we thought it would
00:21 be really fun to recreate one of our favorite looks from last night which was Emma Stone
00:25 who won the Golden Globe for Best Actress.
00:28 Are you guys excited?
00:30 Yes, very excited.
00:31 Thank you for having us.
00:32 We are glad to have you.
00:33 So as you can see, we have done a little bit of pre-prep and then they are going to walk
00:39 us through what they are going to do to transform me into Emma Stone.
00:44 And along the way, if you have questions, please ask them.
00:46 Yeah, ask away, definitely.
00:47 That is what we are here for.
00:50 Perfect, so as you can see I have already started to prep her hair.
00:55 If you want to come around back really quick, you know this look wasn't exactly all about
01:00 the curls but I definitely wanted to make sure that there is some volume in it so that
01:04 is why the set.
01:07 And to add a little bit of texture to play with as we are pinning the hair up into this
01:11 style.
01:12 But I left some sections out so that I can go ahead and start to do a little bit of prep
01:18 along the way.
01:19 So it's not like, "How did you do that?"
01:21 I'm like, "I'll show you."
01:25 And as far as makeup for prep, I just prepped her with some Bioderma to take off her makeup
01:31 she had on before.
01:33 And then we went in with a primer.
01:35 She had a little bit of redness in her skin so I did Smashbox and the green cancels the
01:40 red, think of Christmas.
01:43 And then for foundation, I went in with Makeup Forever HD, went in with my Beauty Blender
01:48 and just kind of stippled it on, pushed it into the skin.
01:51 She has a little bit more oilier skin so I really want to get it into her pores and make
01:56 it look like skin.
01:57 Excellent.
01:58 Skin should look like skin.
01:59 So now we're going to start on the eyes as Eric goes in with the curls.
02:03 And I totally feel like a movie star.
02:05 Both is happening at once.
02:07 So with the sides of the head, I like to do everything away from the face.
02:12 It's a softer look and I definitely want to keep the youth and so I think away from the
02:20 face is always a good way to keep that.
02:24 Because I'm not wanting so much volume on the sides, I'm actually not going to pin the
02:27 sides up.
02:28 Otherwise, I would definitely flat wrap this around my fingers like so and then pin it
02:36 up like that.
02:37 But I'm going to leave them hanging.
02:40 And go back to product that I used.
02:44 I used my favorite product from Kerastase.
02:47 It's called Densamorphis.
02:49 It's actually a mousse but what's so cool about the mousse is it's actually just a treatment
02:54 mousse.
02:55 So it's going to plump the hair.
02:57 It's going to hydrate the hair.
02:59 It's going to protect it.
03:01 But it's not going to have any hold.
03:03 It's not going to give it that crunchy feel.
03:05 It's just going to be really nice and soft and it's strictly just a treatment mousse.
03:09 If you want some more hold, if your hair has trouble holding some curl, I would definitely
03:14 go for their other mousse.
03:18 So this is the Densamorphis that I use.
03:20 You want to take a look.
03:23 So that's the treatment mousse.
03:26 And then this is the mousse bouffant.
03:28 So if you have trouble really...
03:31 With this look, I'm not worried about necessarily the curl holding.
03:34 So that's why I wanted to do more treatment.
03:38 Like Hairstyles is all about treatment.
03:39 Every single one of their products is treatment based and heat protectant.
03:46 So that's the luxury behind the brand is it's really good for the hair.
03:54 But a little fun fact, I looked up the hairstylist who did Emma Stone and she used all over the
04:03 counter products for the hairstyle which is really cool.
04:07 Yeah, that's great.
04:08 She went to your drugstore.
04:09 It was all L'Oreal too.
04:10 So Kerosene is a sister brand.
04:11 I should add he added the mousse to my hair dry which I thought was a cool technique and
04:24 dried it with one of our obsessions right now, the Dyson dryer.
04:29 Obsessed.
04:30 I love that dryer.
04:36 And also Glam Squad, the company that both Nicole and I work for.
04:41 It's an on-demand beauty company in case you are not familiar with it.
04:45 But we do have an app.
04:46 So it's an app based company and you go on and you can book hairstylists, makeup artists,
04:52 nail technicians at the touch of a button which is really awesome.
04:56 It's affordable.
04:57 It's available in New York, LA and Miami.
05:01 So if you live there and you have a big event you can just get guys like these in your home.
05:08 Right in your home.
05:09 Or office artist celebrity.
05:10 That's great.
05:11 Dyson is actually partnered with us so you will find every single one of our stylists
05:19 that comes to your home, office, wherever has a Dyson dryer.
05:23 So if you want to buy the Dyson dryer and don't have $400, book Glam Squad.
05:28 $50 for a blowout.
05:29 It's a great deal.
05:30 And you actually get to, I'm sure the hairstylist will let you play around, push some buttons.
05:41 And for her eyes I'm just going in very close to her lash line starting putting your brush
05:46 up like this and kind of pushing it into the lash line.
05:49 Going in upward strokes so that everything can kind of fade up and it's very soft without
05:54 a heavy liner.
05:55 You can go in with an actual shadow and just a little stippling and then a little bit of
06:00 blending and you've got a nice little soft smokey eye.
06:03 Her look is very blushy, very soft, very glowy.
06:06 So I'm going to go just give enough definition so that she can look great on camera and then
06:12 I'll follow up with her skin.
06:14 Awesome.
06:15 We have a question.
06:16 How do you prevent curls from falling out over time?
06:18 Ah, the infamous question.
06:22 My suggestion would be, I was actually just going to speak on that because in the back
06:27 here notice how I set everything.
06:29 I've let it cool and so I would definitely recommend setting the hair and letting it
06:35 cool before you touch it because a lot of people what they do is they'll curl and then
06:40 they'll put their fingers through it and then all of a sudden it's still hot.
06:44 So think of it, you know, it's setting.
06:47 So you know when you take cookies out of an oven and they're still soft and you try to
06:52 like pick them up, they crumble from underneath the spatula, right?
06:56 But if you let them cool, they'll get hard, they'll maintain its shape.
07:00 Think of that.
07:01 So I don't know.
07:02 That's a good analogy.
07:03 I like that.
07:04 I like shaking it.
07:05 I like that.
07:06 Don't let your cookies fall apart.
07:07 Let your hair fall apart.
07:09 And then Melissa's asking what's a good product to use for hair that won't, that will hold
07:15 a curl?
07:16 That will hold a curl?
07:17 Yeah.
07:18 Um, so there is a fantastic product.
07:22 There's two products from Kera Sauce.
07:25 I love Kera Sauce.
07:26 So one of which is called Form Fatale.
07:29 It's actually a hold blow dry gel.
07:32 Um, and it's kind of scary when people say gel, but I absolutely love it.
07:37 It's, it like dissipates in the hair when you put heat on it and you blow dry it.
07:42 So it actually becomes soft.
07:43 So when you're putting it through, don't be scared.
07:46 Uh, but it has a memory to it and actually memorizes what you do to it.
07:51 So it's good even straightening the hair.
07:53 Um, and then the other one is, I don't know if I ever say this right, but it's a L'Incroyable,
08:00 uh, L'Incroyable, or uh, L'Incroyable, L'Incroyable, I think.
08:05 Yeah, what she said.
08:06 Going back to my middle school French.
08:09 Your French.
08:10 Um, but that does a very similar thing as far as hold and memory, but it also has a
08:16 frizz control to it.
08:18 So it's 72 hour frizz control, um, which especially if you're in those humid states,
08:25 uh, Miami, um, uh, or if you're going on a cruise or something like that, definitely.
08:31 Um, or in this weather that we're having right now in LA where it's rainy and, uh, it's a
08:35 really great product.
08:38 So I'm taking everything down in the back right now.
08:45 And as far as her cheeks, I'm going in with a special glow from Hourglass, one of my favorite
08:50 palettes.
08:51 Um, it's just, it's gorgeous.
08:53 It has three different tones to it.
08:55 One for a highlight, one for a dim light and one for, um, what is the other one?
08:59 Is this their ambient lighting?
09:00 The incident, um, the ambient lighting.
09:02 Yes.
09:03 Yes.
09:04 One of my favorites.
09:05 You can even use all three together.
09:06 You can use one for the highlight or you can even go in.
09:08 And I actually also love this brush.
09:10 It's Japanese.
09:11 Oh, one of my favorites.
09:12 That's one of mine too.
09:13 We're very in sync.
09:14 I love this.
09:15 And the eye makeup you're using is like, Oh, I have that palette and I love it too.
09:20 Which palette were you using?
09:21 I was using Bare Minerals.
09:24 Their colors are amazing.
09:25 It's got like everything you need.
09:27 Do you know what the name of the palette is?
09:30 Let's take a look.
09:31 Um, it's called like, Ready.
09:33 Oh, the Sexy Neutrals.
09:35 That's right.
09:36 Sexy Neutrals.
09:37 Hmm.
09:38 And they are sexy neutrals.
09:43 Going in under the cheekbone, along her hairline just to give a little bit more.
09:52 Sort of like ambient lighting.
09:55 Yes.
09:56 Make me glow.
09:57 Yes.
09:58 Everybody wants that glow.
09:59 Absolutely.
10:00 I even want that glow.
10:01 I think that's the it look.
10:02 I feel like highlighters also having a major moment this past year.
10:03 Oh, yes.
10:04 And for good reason.
10:05 Like, it just makes you look so young.
10:06 And effervescent even if you weren't.
10:20 So with Emma Stone's look, I am definitely, it's a much softer look.
10:25 I saw that a lot on the red carpet.
10:26 It was a lot more up-do's, which was really exciting because I felt like over the past
10:31 couple years, everyone was getting a little relaxed.
10:33 Right.
10:34 I did like the bedhead chic.
10:36 Uh-huh.
10:37 The little, like, you took effort but not quite enough.
10:39 I was like, "Ah, and as a stylist, I'm like, I want to see more."
10:43 And finally, this year is like up-do's and lots of polished looks too.
10:49 So I noticed a lot of center parts.
10:51 Yep.
10:52 Sleek.
10:53 Sleek.
10:54 Slip strands.
10:55 Low ponies.
10:56 Pulled back behind the ears.
10:57 But I loved Emma's because it was just, it was beautiful but it was really soft at the
11:03 same time.
11:04 So that's what we're going to achieve here.
11:07 So I don't want to overdo anything with hairspray with products.
11:11 I want to maintain that softness.
11:13 So I'm just going to use this texture that I created.
11:15 You can also use your natural texture if you want, which is really great.
11:20 And yeah.
11:22 So I like to start in the back.
11:26 And she did a really low...
11:28 Twist.
11:29 Twist.
11:30 Twist so we have more light.
11:35 It gets a little bit dark when we're back there.
11:40 So you're brushing through the curls so it won't ruin them?
11:44 No because I've actually made...
11:46 So I've let it cool.
11:48 So because I've let it cool, I can brush away and it's still going to maintain it.
11:52 So that's what I meant about letting the cookies settle.
11:58 So now you can just let it...
12:01 You can do anything you want and the curl's actually going to maintain until you put more
12:04 heat in it.
12:06 But the main reason why I did it was because I wanted some volume in it and I want to maintain
12:11 that volume.
12:12 You have a Glam Squad question.
12:14 Can I request any hairstyle when booking Glam Squad?
12:18 Very good question.
12:19 So currently on our app, the request button is not available.
12:24 But if you love somebody, you can always write in, call our client experience team.
12:28 We have a full staff of client experience members which are all amazing, amazing people.
12:35 Bless them and you can just call them and if the stylist is available, they'll put you
12:40 on.
12:41 Hairstyle?
12:42 Can they request any hairstyle they want?
12:44 Yes, definitely.
12:45 So on our app, we actually have a lookbook so you can look through.
12:52 We tell each of our beauty professionals that we really want to tailor it to the client.
12:58 That is our goal.
12:59 We don't want you to point at a picture and be like, "I want this."
13:03 It's okay if you do that and they can because all of our beauty professionals are vetted
13:08 and we bring them in for assessment.
13:10 We go through a rigorous assessment process with each and every one of them so you know
13:14 that when somebody's at your door, they're educated.
13:19 They know what they're doing.
13:20 They're professionals.
13:21 Each of them have an average of five years out there in the industry, if not more.
13:26 And so they can give you any look that you want.
13:29 So even if we don't have that look on our app, even if you want to go in and just pull
13:33 up a picture like last night's award show, they will be able to accomplish that.
13:41 Perfect.
13:42 Is it like a flat fee for anything or is it like up-do's versus down-do's?
13:47 So it's $50 for a blowout, $75 for a braid, which includes a blowout, and then $85 for
13:54 an up-do.
13:55 And then for makeup, it's $75 for a one-hour service and then $20 extra for lashes.
14:01 We also are a partner with Temptu Air Pro and we offer that service as well.
14:08 That's another $20.
14:12 So she had kind of like a low twisted wrap.
14:16 So I'm just going to take everything, kind of keep it low on the base of her neck, putting
14:22 bobby pins here and there.
14:24 A trick with bobby pins, I always say, is everyone always goes in and they put their
14:29 fingers and they space it out.
14:31 And what happens is it instantly loses all of its tension.
14:37 Even just a little bit, even though it's going to bounce right back to it, it's still losing
14:40 its tension.
14:41 So I try to never do that.
14:45 And then I always like to just put it straight in, grab some hair, flip it, and then go the
14:52 opposite way.
14:55 And that really sticks.
14:56 Does that feel secure?
14:57 Yep.
14:58 Yay!
14:59 Good answer.
15:00 Good answer.
15:01 So it's a little twist.
15:09 So I'm starting in the back because I want to create a structure in the back.
15:16 I believe structure, it's like building a house, you know, you want to have that foundation.
15:22 So really making sure that you have something to stick it to.
15:31 There's that little base.
15:32 And then what's cool over here is she had like a little twisted knot.
15:40 So I'm actually going to assume she's got a little more hair.
15:47 She's got some fine hair, but lots of density.
15:51 So just continue to secure the twist in the back.
16:04 Yeah, I'm kind of letting the hair speak for itself.
16:07 Because now that I've put these curls in, I'm just kind of twisting the hair, seeing
16:12 where it's lying, and then following that, and then pinning it.
16:21 And nothing is necessarily, I think with updos, people overthink things a lot.
16:26 So they're like, "Oh, no, that's wrong.
16:29 Oh, oh no."
16:30 So I just kind of like to place it before I pin it.
16:34 Yeah.
16:35 Just go for it.
16:38 And you can...and she's got that knot effect.
16:43 So bringing it back up and over, I'm kind of liking that.
16:48 So I think that goes with Emma Stone's look.
16:54 And then with the whole flipping, I still don't part it.
17:01 So I'm still able to just put it in there without really spacing it out.
17:06 I can twist this up and put it in.
17:11 So if you have that in and pushing in, you're never going to see a bobby pin.
17:15 It's a little pet peeve of mine, seeing those bobbies.
17:19 Yeah.
17:20 I can steal those.
17:23 Does Glam Squad offer hair and makeup or other services?
17:26 Or just hair and makeup, or do they offer other services as well?
17:28 We offer nails.
17:29 Oh.
17:30 Yes.
17:31 Nails in New York and LA.
17:32 We also do nail art.
17:33 Oh.
17:34 And it's a look...
17:37 Fabulous.
17:38 I love that design.
17:39 It's so pretty.
17:40 Half moon.
17:41 It's perfect.
17:42 It's perfect.
17:43 You're a little dirty from makeup, but that's okay.
17:44 No judgment.
17:45 My nails are woefully undone.
17:46 So we're doing lashes over here on the face end.
17:52 Oh, yeah.
17:53 So lashes are my favorite little accent.
17:55 I love individuals.
17:56 They're so...let's scoot it this way.
17:59 They are very, very natural, but still gives a little bit of oomph and glam.
18:05 I start from the end, and then I just kind of place it right on top of the lash line.
18:11 The trick is to get the glue underneath the actual individual.
18:16 So underneath, and then you place it on top of the lashes.
18:20 Do you have like...
18:21 Oh, you've got your glue right in here.
18:22 I do.
18:23 I kind of put my glue onto the actual, I guess, plastic for the lashes, and then I just pick
18:27 them off.
18:28 Some people use tweezers.
18:29 I like to use my fingers.
18:30 I'm very hands-on ever since the beginning of my makeup career.
18:34 So I just kind of go in and do it.
18:36 That's a great tip, because I've tried to do it on the glue on my hand, and that's nice.
18:41 I've got everything stuck to my hand by the end of it.
18:43 And then you get it on your clothes.
18:44 You're just like, "Where did all this come from?"
18:45 Find them later in the night, and you're like, "Oh, okay."
18:46 But it's just easier.
18:47 I connect the two, and then I can go back and forth.
18:51 I have double knotted.
18:52 I have single.
18:53 And they're just my favorites.
18:55 And these are so forgiving, too.
18:56 I'm very bad with strip lashes, but I can't make them probably look this good.
19:01 But they're very forgiving, I feel like.
19:03 You can kind of place them where you need them.
19:04 Place them where you need them.
19:05 And if you mess up, you can just take one off, just like this one.
19:09 Being a rebel.
19:10 My rogue lashes.
19:14 Does the nail art come in gel?
19:16 Sorry to go back to the nail art.
19:18 Yes, it does.
19:20 Awesome.
19:21 We do shellac, which is a virgin C&D.
19:24 I love shellac.
19:25 I love it, too, because it's ... I get them done, too.
19:31 I prefer gel and shellac over regular polish.
19:35 It lasts longer.
19:37 Especially working with your hands.
19:41 So I wanted to save this part, because she has that cool little knot in the back.
19:50 So it's literally a knot.
19:52 So I go up with my two fingers, bring it up and around, and then you just pull it through.
20:06 And it creates this cool knot.
20:08 And you can bring it up if you want.
20:19 And then once you secure it, you can actually pull it if you want.
20:22 So you can place it where you really see fit.
20:30 And then if you've got little ends, a lot of people are leaving the ends out, which
20:39 is definitely okay.
20:41 But a little trick for hiding the ends, in case you don't want that, is I always take
20:46 that, put it in, and then take the remaining and wrap it, and then put the bobby pin in.
21:00 And that goes with, say, if you have a ponytail and you want to hide that ponytail rubber
21:04 band and you do that wrap, and people always wrap it around and then stick it back in,
21:10 and there's an end always coming out, that's a good trick for that, too.
21:13 Oh, that's a good one.
21:15 Brittany's asking, "What are your favorite products to set curls?"
21:20 Set the curls.
21:22 So setting curls.
21:24 So if I don't have the two mousses that I've talked about, which is the Mousse Bouffant,
21:30 which has definitely a hold to it, I also like to use the Creme, which is the Les Incroyables,
21:41 and then the gel, which is the Form Fatal.
21:44 Those are both from Kérastase, but definitely something with a memory, something with a
21:48 hold.
21:52 I've even seen some people use hairspray prior, so they'll take a section out, they'll spray
21:59 it up and underneath, and then they'll set it.
22:03 You can use that, too, but I would make sure that the hairspray is lighter.
22:07 Kérastase has two different forms of a lighter hairspray.
22:11 They have a Dentille, which is their lightest, and then Couture, which is a medium hold.
22:16 So as long as it's a lighter hold, you can do that.
22:19 You can get away with that.
22:21 Because if you use something that's a little more stronger, it's definitely going to come
22:25 out crunchy, and the curls aren't going to be soft, and it's not going to look natural.
22:29 So make sure it's a softer.
22:32 Would you say it's probably more important or just as important to do that prep work
22:36 before, rather?
22:37 Because I feel like a lot of people think, "Oh, I'll just spray something after," but
22:40 it sounds like you kind of have to prepare your hair.
22:43 Definitely prep, yeah.
22:45 So for, like you said, we prepped her hair dry.
22:50 With Glam Squad, we do everything wet.
22:54 So you just jump out of the shower 10, 15 minutes prior to our arrival, and really,
23:00 we take it from there.
23:03 We bring everything with them as far as product goes.
23:07 But to really make sure that that style is going to last, I would definitely recommend
23:12 going from wet to dry.
23:14 How are you doing, Nicole?
23:17 I'm doing good.
23:19 I'm going to see inside.
23:22 Now I'm just kind of in the skin zone.
23:25 So I'm just going in and going over with the foundation that I started with beginning to
23:30 kind of go over any blemishes, anything that's kind of moving around a little bit, and really
23:35 pushing it in to make it skin.
23:38 And that's one thing you want to do with the Beauty Blender, right?
23:39 You want to push and tap instead of rub.
23:41 Your Beauty Blender, you want to start with it wet.
23:44 Always wring out the excess, and I love to also use Mario Badescu.
23:49 Put it right into there, spray it in there.
23:51 Really get a beautiful smell for the client, and it also helps set and just kind of make
23:58 the foundation skin.
23:59 I'm huge on skin.
24:00 I just want it to look like skin, but still have that flawless airbrush look.
24:04 I want that too.
24:07 So on this side, I'm doing pretty much the same thing.
24:19 I'll flip you around as I did on the other side.
24:22 So now I've created this base over here, so I have something to latch it on to.
24:27 And once again, it was a very soft feel around the face.
24:33 It was almost like a throwback to kind of like a different time era.
24:44 It was really pretty, but for modern.
24:48 It's kind of like the movie La La Land.
24:50 It's a throwback to modern.
24:52 Do you have any tips for making the hair sweeping as it's coming around?
24:57 Yeah, setting it.
25:00 Back to setting.
25:02 It's all about what you do to prep the hair is from your final result.
25:06 If you don't prep the hair, and you just think it's going to lie naturally, it's not going
25:11 to happen.
25:12 So definitely, I curled away from the face, and then I was able to brush it out, and then
25:18 it gave us that nice sweeping, kind of like a low bob it felt like in the beginning, in
25:26 the front of the face.
25:28 So you're not going to be able to just sweep the hair back if you don't set it, if you
25:33 don't curl it, if you don't put a wave in it.
25:38 That's why when you get your hair done, all of it is, most of the time that you take,
25:47 like if you're in a wedding, or if you're doing something, 45 minutes of it is just
25:52 prepping the hair.
25:53 And then that last 15 minutes is like, boom, okay, whoa, where'd that come from?
25:58 So we're adding some blush over here in the face.
26:02 One of my favorite newer palettes is from Becca.
26:05 It is Blushed with Light.
26:08 I believe it's sold out, but you just kind of ask for it.
26:12 And it has just the right highlight, and it has your golden, you have your pink tone,
26:18 and I'm just going to go in and kind of mix all of them to get the right tone for her.
26:22 I'm even going to put a little bit onto her eyeshadow to kind of bring it together.
26:25 Oh, I love that.
26:26 Any tips for blush application?
26:28 I feel like, you know, so many of us are guilty of clown cheeks, or the 80s look, and you
26:34 want something-- Blend, blend, blend.
26:35 All right.
26:36 That is the secret to everything.
26:38 It's just make sure you blend, go in.
26:41 It's all about layering.
26:42 If you start off with just a little bit and you can add more, it's harder to take away.
26:49 Just keep adding, and then if it's too much, you know, kind of go in with your blender
26:52 brush, or your beauty blender, and kind of take it away.
26:56 Beauty blender's going to be your best friend.
26:57 It's going to be your eraser, it's going to be your applicator, and it's also going to
27:01 be your blender.
27:02 All right.
27:03 You don't already have a beauty blender.
27:04 Have you used the new silicone one yet?
27:07 Oh, I never even tried that.
27:10 I've seen a couple makeup artists out there use it, and videos use it.
27:14 I don't know, I'm very-- I like the idea of it because of the, you know, it doesn't get
27:20 dirty, and the cleanliness, and the hygiene of it.
27:23 I don't know.
27:24 I'll have to try it out and let you know.
27:26 But at the same time, it doesn't seem like the material would really absorb right in.
27:30 Yeah, it feels-- I think it would just-- it picks it up and then it places it.
27:34 I think that's the whole concept of it.
27:36 I don't know.
27:37 I don't know if you've heard of it.
27:38 I love it.
27:40 So you notice that she has a lot of little flyaways here and there, and your first thing
27:46 would just be to, like, spray hairspray and then put a brush through it.
27:50 What I like to do is always apply hairspray not directly on the person, and it remains
27:56 the softness, keeps the softness.
27:58 So if you actually spray it onto your brush prior, so you can actually go in and use the
28:07 side of it, because I wouldn't use the teeth, and you're actually able to really tame.
28:21 Yeah?
28:22 Yeah, is it tamed?
28:23 I've heard a toothbrush also works.
28:25 What's that?
28:26 I said I've heard a toothbrush also works.
28:28 Yeah, yeah.
28:29 Yes.
28:31 Yeah, I have tons of flyaways.
28:33 Definitely.
28:34 Broken hair.
28:35 I mean, not definitely flyaways.
28:36 I've heard a toothbrush.
28:37 I like that.
28:38 A little hack.
28:39 Yeah.
28:40 I've tried to use, like, oil to tame flyaways.
28:49 Bad idea, especially by your roots.
28:50 Oh.
28:51 It did not work out.
28:52 Learned the hard way.
28:53 How's it looking?
28:54 So while he's doing that, I'm going to actually what I call marry the lashes.
29:03 So I marry them by--
29:06 Are you ordained?
29:07 I am.
29:08 I am in the makeup world.
29:10 So one of my pet peeves is when you can see the client's lashes with the individuals.
29:17 So I kind of place them together and marry them together, and what I do is I use mascara
29:22 on my hand, and I use a fan brush, and I go in, put my finger right in here, and kind
29:29 of attach them.
29:32 It's going to add with the longevity of the actual lash wear as well and make it look
29:37 like lashes.
29:38 So when you look from the side, from the side, it looks like your actual lashes.
29:43 That's a great tip.
29:45 So mascara doesn't ruin the lashes.
29:47 That's what I've heard.
29:48 No.
29:49 As long as you're just using a fan brush instead of the full-on, like, mascara wand, it just
29:54 distributes too much mascara.
29:56 With the fan brush, you can place it where you need it and actually, like, really give
30:00 it that extra oomph.
30:01 See, if you can look on this eye, it's a little bit more, like, it's more defined, and that
30:06 eye, we can go in.
30:10 It also seems like the fan brush is a little gentler than, like, a mascara wand.
30:15 Do you feel like you could run the risk of pulling out the fake ones?
30:18 Yeah.
30:22 That's a great tip.
30:23 So you also notice that Nicole and I have been working in tandem, and that's exactly
30:27 what happens when you order Glam Squad hair and makeup.
30:30 So efficient.
30:31 So, yeah, you get done quicker.
30:33 It's not like you're being passed off, you know, to another person.
30:37 It's really, it saves you time.
30:39 Time is money.
30:41 So it saves you money.
30:42 Ending out in one hour.
30:44 Yeah.
30:45 And it's, you know, it makes you feel like a movie star.
30:48 It's at your own glance.
30:49 And then imagine if we had a nail technician here, too.
30:52 Oh.
30:53 You would be living the life.
30:55 I'm also doing this on her bottom lashes.
31:00 Just to distribute the mascara and give a little more definition.
31:10 Did you line it all on the bottom?
31:12 I did.
31:13 I did a little bit of shadow liner.
31:16 Lined it up really easy.
31:20 So it's still a soft look.
31:21 Yeah, still a soft look.
31:23 And then to pop it the way Emma Stone's makeup artist did,
31:27 she used more of a glitter in the inside right here.
31:31 I'm going to use, like, a highlighter that kind of gives the same effect by MAC.
31:34 It's the Mineralize Skin Finish.
31:37 I'm going to use my Artis brush, which looks very fancy.
31:41 Yes.
31:42 And everybody loves it.
31:43 And I'm going to put it right into the inside of her eye.
31:48 It's going to give a little bit of the glitter look plus a highlight.
31:52 Okay, look that way.
31:57 Look that way.
32:02 And you have that pop.
32:03 Yay.
32:04 Look up.
32:06 It can kind of make you look more awake, too.
32:09 I'm going to blend that out, too, so it's not so dominant.
32:12 I've heard that -- so this area is, like, I've heard the darkest part of your face.
32:18 So it can really, like, age you.
32:20 And this will -- yeah.
32:22 Emma Stone has huge eyes, so she's got gorgeous eyes.
32:25 She's got gorgeous eyes.
32:27 So do you.
32:30 I'm just going to go in and blend to make sure all the eye shadows are pretty.
32:43 Prepping your hair is the number one lesson for hair.
32:46 I feel like blending might be the number one lesson for makeup.
32:48 Yes, yes, yes, very much.
32:53 People are loving your makeup, Ma'am.
32:55 Oh, do they?
32:56 Yay.
32:57 I wish I could say I had a hot date tonight.
32:59 I don't.
33:00 If my husband's watching.
33:02 Maybe I'm really late.
33:04 Hello.
33:06 Yeah, since I'm waiting for you to come home.
33:11 Maybe he'll cook dinner for you tonight.
33:13 Yeah, he's very good about that.
33:21 And are you using foundation on the blender now, or are you just --
33:23 I'm just using the excess.
33:26 And what is that -- what's the purpose of that?
33:28 It's because there's still foundation kind of in the sponge.
33:31 You can just kind of blend it and fill in, and it just kind of evens everything out without adding more,
33:37 because I don't want to add any more so that it doesn't build up.
33:40 It's just kind of stippling it into your face.
33:43 Perfect.
33:44 This is almost a very bridal look, too.
33:46 It is kind of.
33:47 It's very, very glowing.
33:49 So, I think the bridal look is this curl right here.
33:54 So, as you can see, I left a piece out when I pulled everything back.
33:58 I left that piece out underneath, which I thought was an interesting choice,
34:01 and I loved it because it's not seen a lot.
34:04 But now it's all curled, so I'm just going to take a flat iron through it.
34:07 And I love that it was a little straight, and all of a sudden it just --
34:12 it gives it that more glam effect instead of bridal effect.
34:17 And if it's too straight, then you can go in with a flat iron and give it, like, a small little bend.
34:24 So you can really -- so it's not so straight.
34:36 Like Goldilocks's curl.
34:38 Just right.
34:39 Just right.
34:41 So I'm adding a little bit more glitter because her look definitely adds that glitter aspect.
34:50 It needs the glitter aspect to not be bridal.
34:52 It just reminded me.
34:53 I was like, "Actually, we're going for glam here."
34:55 So I'm going to add just a little bit more glitter, and this is the Smashbox Full Exposure Palette.
35:01 You can use wet or dry.
35:02 This is one of my favorites.
35:03 And the brush feels a little wet?
35:05 Yeah, I actually wet the brush and then added this color.
35:11 I'm going to do some sparkle.
35:15 Looking gorge.
35:27 So brow time.
35:30 I'm going to go in and add a little bit more brow to her.
35:34 Just enough.
35:35 What are you using?
35:36 I'm using Anastasia Brow Wiz Blonde.
35:39 It's a classic.
35:40 I'm going to use blonde and medium brown just for a little bit more of an arch.
35:45 So what would you use the blonde for since she has brown?
35:49 I'm using it as a guide, as kind of your her foundation.
35:53 I'm just going to actually draw actual brow hairs so that it's not so much a brow, but it's actual hairs.
36:03 Does that make sense?
36:05 And don't using two colors also kind of give it that real dimension?
36:10 Yes, it gives it dimension.
36:12 And this you can go into the arch area.
36:15 Always brush up.
36:17 Figure out where you need.
36:20 I start right in here, move up, get that arch, and then come down.
36:27 Your eyebrows are going to help give that instant eye lift.
36:34 Without the eye lift.
36:37 Yes.
36:38 No surgery required.
36:40 Exactly.
36:41 I'll help you out.
36:42 Thanks.
36:43 Teamwork.
36:44 Teamwork.
36:45 Action.
36:47 I'm going to build that structure, go up and in here.
36:51 Brush strokes, and then I'm going to go in with my medium brown.
36:59 Get the structure right in here.
37:02 And you can always, if you put too much on, you can use this as your eraser.
37:08 I feel like people think the spoolie brush is just a brush, but it is kind of magical in that it can really take some of that extra product off if you need it.
37:18 So now hers.
37:20 She's lifted on that side too.
37:22 Ooh, eye lift.
37:23 And you're using a very light hand, it feels like at least.
37:31 I'm going to go in with a little bit more of our eye shadow highlight, just to accentuate it.
37:37 Do you guys like working in pairs too, because you can make a complete look?
37:41 Yes, it's a fun part about it.
37:43 It's so fun.
37:44 Alright.
37:47 Now we're going to go for lips.
37:49 We need our lipstick.
37:51 This one I'll do.
37:52 Lipstick and last looks.
37:54 Yay.
37:55 I was actually admiring Emma Stone's lipstick last night.
37:58 I thought that was really pretty.
38:00 I was like, "Oh, I want that lipstick."
38:02 It's very pinky, mauve-y, very natural.
38:06 I conditioned her lips with Jack Black lip balm, just to give some hydration.
38:14 Natural mint.
38:15 And it has SPF too, because she had a little bit chapped lips, but that's alright.
38:19 I'm actually going to take the excess off so that I can put a very nice line on her lips.
38:25 I'm going to take the excess off with the Beauty Blender.
38:27 Like I said, your eraser as well.
38:29 Just everything.
38:30 I'm going to go in, line her lips.
38:33 Her lips are very natural, so I'm not going to get too crazy with it.
38:38 Go along with her lip shape.
38:41 Do the peak, and then you go in.
38:52 Do the peak, and then you go back around.
38:58 Get that fullness right in here.
39:01 I could never do that with my steady hand.
39:10 Oh, I know. I'm a mess.
39:11 I've got a bigger canvas.
39:13 I'm going to use Makeup Forever No. 18 Rogue Artist Natural.
39:20 This is one of my other favorite lipsticks.
39:24 I can use it as is, or I love doing a gloss on top of it.
39:29 It's very sheer, but it still has enough of the pink to give the pout.
39:34 And I'm using the edge of my brush because I don't want to go through.
39:46 Keep it sanitary.
39:47 Keep it sanitary.
39:48 I respect that.
39:50 So Glam Squad is not only for events or award shows.
40:03 We also do weddings.
40:05 We do just everyday glamour.
40:07 I mean, if you just want a day to feel a little more empowered,
40:11 you have a special meeting to go to.
40:14 That's really what we're here for is that empowerment
40:17 and making women feel like they could do anything.
40:20 I love that.
40:22 You're able to go around the clock?
40:24 I'm thinking before work would be pretty early.
40:26 Pretty much.
40:27 We take appointments starting at 6 a.m., and then we go all the way to 10 p.m.
40:31 So party late, or if you have even a flight to catch the next morning.
40:38 I've seen a lot of people get glammed at 9 p.m. the night before.
40:42 I've heard of that, too, and I'm like, "How do these people sleep?"
40:44 I would rub off everything on one side of my face.
40:47 My hair would be like--
40:49 Maybe just hair.
40:50 Yeah, just hair.
40:51 You get a nice blowout at night.
40:52 Perfect.
40:53 So how are we looking?
40:54 We're looking good.
40:55 And to just kind of seal everything, I'm going to ask Eric to cover her hair
41:00 because he did all that lovely work,
41:02 and I'm going to set your makeup with this Mario Badescu rose water.
41:07 It's just amazing.
41:08 I'm obviously almost out, so I use it quite often.
41:11 Smells nice.
41:16 I'm going to seal everything, give her that extra glow.
41:19 And then in parts that have too much moisture, I'm going to go in.
41:23 Once again with my beauty blender.
41:27 There are literally a million things you can do with a beauty blender.
41:33 So am I Emma Stone?
41:35 Yes.
41:36 You are Emma Stone.
41:38 You're going to walk down the street and be like, "Emma!
41:41 Emma, over here!"
41:42 Go to the promenade tonight, see who recognizes me.
41:45 Oh, my gosh.
41:46 Well, thank you guys for coming in.
41:48 Absolutely.
41:49 Should I come in here?
41:50 So once again, this was Eric and Nicole with Glam Squad LA.
