00:00 Ok, so these two birds are not exactly normal.
00:04 One is the largest bird alive and the fastest two-legged animal, and the other is like a
00:09 living dinosaur, being the most dangerous bird in the world with its long, deadly claws.
00:15 Welcome to the 20th episode of YouTube's favorite show, Animal Battle.
00:19 Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to present you our two competitors.
00:24 The ostrich versus the cassowary.
00:30 And don't forget that at the end of the video you are going to vote the winner of this battle
00:34 and find out who won the last battle between the African and the Asian elephant.
00:39 Let's do it.
00:40 I am Mario and this is Animal Battle.
00:50 So there are a couple of species of ostriches and cassowaries, but in this video we are
00:54 going to talk about the largest and the most powerful species, the common ostrich and the
00:59 saffron cassowary.
01:01 It's just that it wouldn't sound cool if I named this video common ostrich versus saffron
01:05 cassowary.
01:06 Now we can start comparing them, and we are going to evaluate both of these species based
01:10 on six different characteristics, which are none other than agility, attack, defense,
01:16 intelligence, bonus skill, and survival.
01:19 Their attack stats are going to be really interesting, so don't miss that.
01:23 So let's start with agility.
01:25 These birds are way too large to fly, but that doesn't mean that they don't have high
01:30 agility stats.
01:31 They have adapted to running instead and are very good at that.
01:35 Cassowaries can reach a top speed of 50 km/h running through rain forests.
01:40 They actually run with their head forward and use their crest to cut through underbrush,
01:45 so it would be really hard to escape from such a bird, which is faster than Usain Bolt.
01:50 But ostriches are even faster.
01:52 In fact, they are the world's fastest two-legged animal, reaching speeds of up to 70 km/h.
01:59 When they run, they use their wings to change direction, even their cheeks don't slack
02:03 off and are able to run at 56 km/h by one month old.
02:09 Their long and powerful legs act like springs and give them such incredible speeds.
02:14 But, while ostriches can't jump very high due to their large size, cassowaries are remarkably
02:20 good jumpers.
02:22 They can jump up to 2 meters in the air.
02:24 Also, cassowaries are very good swimmers, crossing rivers and swimming in the sea.
02:30 But let's not forget that ostriches can also swim.
02:33 Now let's see their agility stats.
02:39 Even though they are flightless birds, they have remarkably high stats.
02:43 Ostriches being faster and cassowaries jumping higher and being better swimmers.
02:48 Before going to their attack and defense stats, let's have a look at their bonus skills.
02:52 Both the ostrich and the cassowary have an acute sense of hearing and eyesight.
02:57 Cassowaries actually use their crest to amplify deep sounds so that they don't only look like
03:02 dinosaurs, but also sound like them.
03:08 Ostriches are well adapted to living in savannas, being able to survive several days without
03:12 water.
03:13 They can even survive losing up to 25% of their body weight through dehydration.
03:19 But there is one thing that gives ostriches more bonus skill points.
03:23 While cassowaries are solitary, ostriches form nomadic groups of 5 to 100 birds during
03:29 mating seasons, which are led by a dominant female.
03:32 After mating, she will let other females lay their eggs in the same nest until there are
03:37 about 20 eggs there.
03:39 These eggs will be incubated by females during the day and males at night due to their coloration.
03:45 When the chicks hatch, the whole group is going to take care of them, so they have a
03:49 higher chance of survival.
03:51 I think it is time to see their bonus skill stats.
03:57 They have pretty good stats, ostriches being slightly better here.
04:02 Time has come to talk about their attack and defense stats.
04:05 Their large size is definitely an advantage here.
04:08 Ostriches are the largest birds on earth, males reaching up to 2.8 meters in height
04:12 and weighing 120 kilograms on average.
04:16 Cassowaries are the second largest birds in the world, and they are a little bit weird
04:20 because females are actually bigger than males, reaching up to 1.8 meters in height and weighing
04:26 59 kilograms on average.
04:28 Looking at their sizes alone, you would say that ostriches are clearly better at attack
04:32 and defense.
04:33 But the cassowary has an ace up its sleeve.
04:37 It has a small wing with long sharp quills instead of feathers and three-toed feet with
04:41 sharp claws.
04:43 The longest claw is the inner one, which can reach 12.5 centimeters in length, so they
04:48 basically have knives on their feet.
04:51 Ostriches can kick with their powerful legs, being able to injure or even kill a predator.
04:56 But cassowaries are even crazier, charging at you, leaping and giving a fatal kick with
05:02 their powerful and armed feet.
05:05 They truly look like aggressive, blood-seeking velociraptors.
05:09 Cassowaries are very aggressive towards humans and are the most dangerous birds on Earth,
05:13 followed shortly by ostriches.
05:16 But ostriches and cassowaries are mostly herbivores, eating small mammals sometimes and attack
05:22 only if they feel in danger.
05:24 Cassowaries are very important for their ecosystems because they swallow the fruit's hole and
05:29 then spread the seeds with their feces.
05:32 Ostriches have more predators in the African savannah like cheetahs, lions, leopards and
05:37 African wild dogs.
05:38 They can't outrun a cheetah, so they try to hide by lying down, making them appear
05:43 like a mound of earth, and they travel together with other grazing animals like zebras and
05:48 antelopes to be safer.
05:50 And now let's bust some myths!
05:53 You might have heard that ostriches bury their head in sand when they feel in danger, but
05:57 that is only a myth.
06:00 It wouldn't be practical and people might have come up with this idea because ostriches
06:04 can sometimes keep their heads low near the ground.
06:07 Now we shall see their attack and defense stats.
06:14 So even though ostriches are larger, cassowaries are still slightly better at attack due to
06:19 their aggression and incredible weapons.
06:22 What's next?
06:23 Intelligence stats.
06:24 Well, let's just say that they aren't the smartest birds.
06:27 The brain of an ostrich is actually smaller than its eye, so we can't compare them to
06:32 predators like lions or wolves, so their intelligence stats are…
06:38 Ok, I guess.
06:43 And last but not least, let's talk about their survival stats, because there's no
06:47 point in having high stats if the species is going extinct.
06:51 And both the common ostrich and the southern cassowary are doing well here.
06:55 They are listed as the least concerned species and can live 40 to 50 years.
07:00 What is interesting is that male cassowaries are the ones that will take care of the eggs
07:04 and then chicks by themselves, females being free after they lay the eggs.
07:09 So let's see their final stats.
07:15 They have really good stats with high agility, attack and defense stats.
07:20 But who is the winner?
07:21 Well, it is up to you because you can vote the winner in the poll right there and leave
07:26 your opinions in the comments down below.
07:28 And don't forget to tell your friends, parents and most importantly tell your babushka to
07:33 smash that subscribe button because it would make Spike really happy and we will not rest
07:37 until we beat both PewDiePie and T-Series.
07:42 It is already time to announce the winner of the last battle between the African elephant
07:46 and the Asian elephant.
07:48 So after counting all the votes, the winner is…
07:53 The African elephant!
07:55 It is really an overpowered animal with high attack, defense and intelligence stats.
08:01 But that doesn't mean that you should be upset if you voted for the Asian elephant
08:05 because here, when I am from animals, we love and respect all animals.
08:11 Once again, don't forget to vote the winner of this episode battle in the top right corner.
