Tesla Faces Hurdles In China

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is visiting China, where he met with the country's foreign minister in Beijing. This marks Musk's return to China's largest production hub for Tesla after a gap of three years. His visit follows the reopening of China's borders and a reversal of its zero-COVID policy. Musk is expected to meet other senior Chinese officials and visit Tesla's Shanghai plant during his trip. The competition faced by Tesla from Chinese-made electric vehicles and uncertainties regarding the expansion plans for the Shanghai plant is among the concerns of investors. Additionally, regulatory approval for Tesla's advanced driver assistance features in China and the interest of Chinese researchers in Musk's space company, SpaceX, and its Starlink satellite network have been subjects of discussion.
