00:00 referee Michael DeJesus. Six rounds, seis asaltos.
00:05 - All right guys, so we're gonna talk to you
00:06 in the locker room and in the corner.
00:07 You know, I expect to touch as long as you want to,
00:08 if not, go back to your corner.
00:10 You all going? All right, let's go.
00:11 - They thought about the touch, and then they touch.
00:18 Darryl Val Saint looking to move to eight and O
00:22 prior to his 21st birthday.
00:25 He takes on Soski on short notice.
00:28 Here we go. It's time to fight.
00:31 Val Saint in the red and gold trunks,
00:33 comes out in the southpaw stance.
00:36 Leopard print trunks for Marcelo "El Loco" Soski.
00:41 - Southpaw, very southpaw, as you mentioned,
00:46 Goldie Val Saint was getting ready for a right hander.
00:49 He's got a southpaw in front of him now.
00:51 Looks for the adjustment.
00:52 - And Chris, it was around the Olympics
00:56 that Darryl Val Saint suffered the broken hand.
00:59 It actually now, years later, works to his advantage
01:04 because he feels so comfortable from both sides.
01:06 - Yeah, right away, you can see
01:07 that very sharp southpaw jab.
01:08 Not really a punch that a lot of southpaws utilize,
01:11 but he has a southpaw in front of him,
01:12 so it's a perfect shot to split the guard.
01:13 There it is again.
01:15 - And we've talked many times, Paulie,
01:16 about, you know, right-handed southpaws.
01:19 And so that jab does come with a different level
01:22 of potential damage than when it isn't
01:26 your major arm, when it isn't the arm
01:29 that you're throwing the cross with.
01:30 You're throwing your front arm with all that power,
01:32 and that's a good thing for Blast.
01:34 - Yeah, a lot of people talk about converted southpaws,
01:36 but you know, there's also converted right handers.
01:38 - Right.
01:39 - And then Blast is one of those guys.
01:40 He's got a very educated right hand,
01:41 but there's an atrophy.
01:43 - I like the physical pressure
01:45 that Blast is putting on his opponent.
01:47 You've got a guy coming in last minute,
01:49 or placement, might as well get aggressive early,
01:53 put that physical pressure on him,
01:54 see if he's really been in the gym or not,
01:56 like you were saying, Champ.
01:58 You know, one day notice is legit.
02:01 - Yeah, and also not give him a chance
02:03 to really get any confidence.
02:03 Sometimes guys come in with the opponent mentality,
02:06 but they may get some confidence
02:07 by being able to hang around in there
02:09 or maybe land the shot or two.
02:10 So you take away any chance of them gaining confidence
02:12 by putting that mental pressure on them,
02:14 that physical pressure.
02:15 You may get them out of there quicker.
02:17 - Well, Soski didn't get a chance
02:19 to perhaps burn himself out during training camp
02:23 for this fight, or get mentally off the targeted event
02:28 that he would like to see happen,
02:31 and that is an upset of Darryl Belsink.
02:35 He comes in, just fought 19 days ago,
02:38 and wants to put on a show.
02:40 - Yeah, he's gaining.
02:41 - Blast is looking very sharp right now, though.
02:44 He's cutting off the ring really well.
02:45 He's being aggressive.
02:46 He's really getting behind that Southpaw jab.
02:48 Just missing with the power straight left hands
02:50 down the middle.
02:52 So far, so good from Blast.
02:53 - It has been said before,
03:02 if fighting was a subject in grade school,
03:05 Darryl Belsink would have been the model student.
03:09 Instead, he went to 10 different high schools,
03:14 school districts, as he found boxing,
03:17 and he finds the body of his opponent late in round one.
03:20 - Yeah, champ, you mentioned Soski.
03:21 You don't want him to get comfortable,
03:22 but I can see him analyzing.
03:24 I feel like I can see his brain.
03:25 He's taking in the data from Belsink.
03:27 He looks like he's getting more comfortable.
03:29 That's just because he's such a veteran.
03:30 - Yeah, and he doesn't really give you a lot of openings.
03:32 He keeps a tight guard,
03:33 and so you're not really able to hit him with a shot,
03:35 but just get him out of there.
03:35 He's a hero to this, it's a lot for him.
03:37 - If he keeps backing up, all right?
03:41 If he can give me a slap hook with a straight left,
03:43 you can do that too, all right?
03:46 You're kind of like, you ready?
03:47 You see what you see?
03:48 Let's go to work, all right?
03:50 Give me a little bit of faith.
03:52 Give me a double quick, but shoot that.
03:58 You gotta get close.
03:58 You can't throw that double jab from far, all right?
04:00 And then hit that body and stay in there.
04:02 Don't let him out, all right?
04:03 Work behind there, all right?
04:05 Jump on him when he separates, but boom, okay?
04:08 You understood that?
04:09 That's what I said.
04:10 Okay, double jab.
04:14 - Double jab, that's right.
04:14 - All right, you ready?
04:16 Good, good job.
04:17 - Mark tested him there.
04:20 He better be the model student.
04:21 Coach said, "What did I just say?"
04:23 He answered it right.
04:24 They answer the bell.
04:25 Round number two.
04:27 Blast in the red and gold.
04:30 He is seven and oh, just 20 years old.
04:33 Leopard print trunks for the Argentinian Marcelo Soski.
04:38 - Soski's kind of fighting that opponent/sparring partner
04:42 mentality, you know?
04:43 He knows how to hang around.
04:44 Again, he doesn't give you a lot of openings,
04:45 so it's gonna give Blast a chance to work on some things,
04:47 get the rounds.
04:48 He's not gonna be an easy guy to get out of there.
04:50 - Good combination by Bell Sink.
04:57 - There's that dip and rip you were talking about, Paulie.
04:59 He dubs that in and throws those big,
05:00 looping shots like that.
05:02 - Yeah, and the thing about that is he does it
05:04 only when he's really forced to.
05:06 Otherwise, he's really focused on covering up
05:08 and trying to lure you in so that he can try that again.
05:12 He's not really looking to set you up.
05:13 He's looking to get you to overcommit a little bit.
05:15 - Yeah, he also likes to slow the pace.
05:17 He doesn't want to get into exchanges.
05:19 So getting really low can help with that.
05:21 - Sparring partner mentality, you know?
05:23 Just stay in there and go to the rounds.
05:25 He's known to go the distance.
05:26 He's known to give you the work.
05:27 - He's what I call a jobber.
05:29 He wants to get out of here without a KO
05:31 so he doesn't get put on suspension
05:35 and he can work again next week.
05:37 - He's not Glenn's Joe 'cause he goes the distance,
05:39 so he's more like a von Kaiser.
05:41 - Ooh, good body shot there from Bell Sink.
05:43 - Ooh, catch and shoot there, too.
05:45 - Round number two.
05:47 Super middleweight matchup scheduled for six.
05:50 - Another thing about a guy like this
05:54 who survives most of these fights,
05:55 he's probably got a pretty good chin, too.
05:57 - Ooh, good counter uppercut.
05:58 That's a timing shot.
05:59 - Oh, oh!
06:00 (crowd cheering)
06:03 - It is all over!
06:13 - Blast with the finish in round number two!
06:17 - Timing shot, timing, timing, timing.
06:19 That's the name of the game for the two prospects
06:21 we've seen tonight so far.
06:23 Great counter shot, timing shots.
06:26 Ended both fights.
06:27 - That's what you wanna see from a blue chip prospect.
06:30 You gotta, I was literally just saying,
06:31 this guy probably has a good chin 'cause he survives
06:33 and he gets knocked out.
06:34 Beautiful, beautiful job of Val Saint.
06:35 Great timing.
06:36 - And not just that, he wasn't really giving a lot
06:39 to Val Saint.
06:39 Val Saint had to hold his ground there,
06:40 just like we talked about in the first fight
06:42 with Pat Williams, had to hold his ground there
06:44 to get that counter uppercut off.
06:46 And Zulski gives you just enough.
06:50 You know, he doesn't really give you a lot of openings,
06:51 so that opening's gonna be there just for a second,
06:53 'cause he's not fully committing on anything.
06:55 You got him to commit a little bit on that jab.
06:57 I don't even know if he was throwing a left hand
06:58 or was it just a jab.
06:59 I mean, and that was a counter shot right there.
07:03 You gotta get it off in a split second,
07:04 because again, I'll reiterate,
07:06 Zulski's not really committing a lot.
07:08 So any time, any counter shots you're gonna time,
07:11 you gotta be holding your ground for one,
07:12 and you gotta get it off quick.
07:14 And you'll notice in this replay,
07:16 the reason Val Saint was able to get the shot off
07:20 is 'cause of the position game he was playing
07:22 the entire couple rounds.
07:23 Good shot right off the double jab.
07:24 You see, it wasn't really a committing jab.
07:25 He was kinda tapping out with it.
07:27 He wasn't really looking to overcommit with that jab,
07:29 but it was because Val Saint held his ground.
07:31 Held his ground there, he didn't step back.
07:32 He didn't let this jab,
07:33 see, it was kind of an illusionary jab to create space.
07:37 Val Saint didn't give him the space.
07:38 Instead, he held his ground and gave that counter uppercut,
07:40 and he was the follow-up.
07:41 - Three keys to victory for Val Saint.
07:43 Be aggressive, he was aggressive all night long.
07:44 Cut off the ring, we'll watch that right here.
07:46 He cuts him off with the shot,
07:47 and lands that looping shot there, and then uppercut.
07:50 He did it perfectly.
07:51 He must've read my keys.
07:53 - Absolutely.
07:54 (laughing)
07:54 As well, they should.
07:55 And by the way, again, this is just part of the course
07:58 for a guy like Zulski, who knows how to go to distance,
08:00 who knows how to create those little openings for himself,
08:02 those, not to create openings to hit you,
08:04 but more so to create openings to survive.
08:06 He wasn't looking to overcommit with that jab.
08:07 He was just looking to push it out there
08:09 so Val Saint might leave him alone.
08:10 Well, Val Saint didn't leave him alone.
08:11 He acted like the boss in there from the belt,
08:14 and that's the reason he was able to be in position
08:15 to get this knockout when it presented itself.
08:17 - Tonight was the 36th professional bout
08:22 for El Loco Marcelo Zulski.
08:26 He had only been finished twice prior to tonight.
08:30 One of them was in round number seven,
08:33 the other in round number nine.
08:36 So Blast certainly did something tonight against El Loco
08:41 that has not been done before.
08:44 Two in the books, two spectacular finishes,
08:48 and still to come, our co-main event,
08:51 Marcus Baille and Demarcus Leighton.
08:55 That one's scheduled for six
08:57 in the super welterweight division.
09:00 Then our main event of the evening,
09:01 a lightweight matchup scheduled for 10 rounds.
09:04 Eddie Valencia comes into what is now
09:08 Otar-Arenosian territory here on Pro Box TV.
09:13 This is our main event.
09:16 This is Pablo Flores to make this Blast win official.
09:20 (bell ringing)
09:24 - Ladies and gentlemen, referee,
09:25 Michael DeJesus stops the bout officially.
09:28 One minute and 43 seconds into the second round.
09:31 (speaking in foreign language)
09:33 (speaking in foreign language)
09:37 - For your winner by the way of TKO victory.
09:39 (speaking in foreign language)
09:42 - And still undefeated.
09:44 (speaking in foreign language)
09:48 Jarell Blast Vassar!
09:51 (audience cheering)
09:59 (audience laughing)
