00:27 Nevin Morales is in the blue and the white.

00:32 There's a language barrier between these two,
00:34 but they have plenty to say at the head-to-head.
00:35 Yesterday, there's a little bit of spite.
00:37 McKinson this week, well,
00:40 he's got a very confident figure, Matt,
00:43 because he's boxed relatively recently.
00:45 He said it's his lightest he's been
00:47 in between fights because of that.
00:49 And he's confident as well, and so he should be.
00:51 He's been up at French world level,
00:54 and Virgil Ortiz is a quality
00:57 you'd almost say elite world's weight
00:58 without a title belt, but you'd think
01:00 that he'd go on to become a world champion.
01:02 And McKinson did himself proud out in Dallas.
01:06 And he's now back on UK shores
01:07 and desperate to make an impact.
01:09 - Yeah, I think McKinson's a very capable fighter.
01:11 You know, he obviously stepped up to world level there
01:14 with Ortiz and, you know, came up short,
01:17 but acquitted himself well.
01:18 And, you know, back down now a couple of levels,
01:22 a very capable fighter, and, you know,
01:25 we've got an opponent here in Morales
01:27 who's been experienced.
01:29 Yeah, he's been beaten by the better guys,
01:31 but it's a chance here to see, you know,
01:33 the improvements that McKinson has made.
01:36 - McKinson's already found a home
01:40 for that long Southpaw backhand.
01:42 And Morales has been here before,
01:49 and he's been in with quality operators.
01:51 Was stopped by Luke Campbell.
01:53 That was the first time that he'd actually
01:55 ventured outside his home country.
01:56 McKinson just chops down with the left hand.
02:01 And the two just choosing to stand center ring back,
02:08 and they're not afraid to let it go early.
02:10 - Yeah, normally McKinson's quite crafty
02:12 with distance with his feet.
02:14 He's good at triggering his opponents,
02:15 getting them to lead off, takes the half step back,
02:18 walks them onto the backhand.
02:20 He's good at that long range stuff,
02:21 but yeah, elected to hold his feet a bit more here
02:26 and try and find a body shot.
02:28 - Morales is targeting the body.
02:30 That one perhaps could have been called low.
02:32 It was right on the belt line of McKinson.
02:34 Yeah, McKinson's got his hand up
02:40 as if a punch landed there.
02:41 One did, but I don't think that was the punch
02:43 that sent him to the floor.
02:43 He just bundled him over,
02:45 and McCann quite rightly says no knockdown.
02:47 - Yeah, I think it was more of a balance issue
02:48 with the feet getting tangled.
02:51 - Good start from McKinson, though.
02:52 - Yeah, he keeps looking for that sort of lead,
02:55 screw shot right up the court.
02:56 - He found a home for it there
03:01 and really snapped the head back of Morales.
03:04 - Tried a looping long left hook there,
03:12 but Morales seen it last minute, got out of the way.
03:16 - Oh, he got a chance!
03:18 - Yeah, Morales gets caught with a quality counter.
03:21 Lovely shot from McKinson.
03:23 - McKinson very good at that little half step back,
03:27 walking the mind to that backhand.
03:29 He timed that shot perfectly.
03:31 - Yeah, the bell comes at a good time for Morales,
03:33 who says to Kieran McKann, "Push me over."
03:35 Yeah, but not before he had a huge left hand.
03:46 - Yeah, there's that little half step, nailed him.
03:49 Yeah, there was a little gorge after,
03:51 but certainly a lovely, well-timed, well-executed
03:56 straight left, boom, bang on the chin there.
03:59 - Yeah, it's not in question that it was the punch
04:01 that sent him over, absolutely sort of robbed him
04:03 of his senses, almost stood still momentarily
04:06 and then went over.

04:45 - You only just look, again, the lead, you know,
04:49 screw shot, the lead caught, screw right up across,
04:52 and then the backhand follows it.
04:54 - Not renowned as the biggest of punches, McKinson,
05:01 more of a technical, easy on the eye Southpaw,
05:04 but he's got three in 24 and coming off the back
05:08 of a stoppage win over in Italy.
05:12 - I don't think he's a heavy-handed,
05:14 heavy explosive hitter, McKinson,
05:16 but like I say, he's very good at that little half step.
05:19 He's very good at walking amongst the backhand,
05:20 and you know, many times the momentum of them coming
05:24 onto the shot adds to the power,
05:25 lands it again there, lovely, beautiful shot.
05:28 - Every time he hits him, he stings him, McKinson.

05:34 - He's really found his range early,
05:44 the Portsmouth Southpaw.
05:45 I don't think Morales really knows if to stick or twist
05:51 because every time he comes forward, he gets clipped.
05:54 This is probably the safest place for him at the moment,
05:59 just to grab hold.

06:35 and try and dig some body shots in.

06:49 is certainly with McKinson.

07:56 - It's been a huge week of announcements in the boxing world

08:02 after Petit Bien, Callum Smith.

08:08 IBF, WBC, WBO, light heavyweight titles from Quebec.
08:13 It's a tough task, but it's a great fight.
08:15 - It is, I think Callum Smith's gonna beat him.
08:17 I think Petit Bien might be ready for the taking
08:19 and Callum Smith having moved up to light heavyweight,
08:21 I think it's really given him a lease of energy,
08:24 a new lease of life.
08:26 He's really carrying the power up with him.
08:27 - And a chance to become a two-weight,
08:29 two-time world champion.
08:30 They don't come around often.
08:32 - No, and like you say, these are tough fights.
08:34 Petit Bien, a bit of a monster,
08:35 but every dog has his day
08:38 and I think the timing might suit Callum.

08:45 Back to this one and, well, it's been a torrid first two rounds
08:53 for Levy Morales.
08:55 Michael McKinson really, really pouring it on
08:58 and punching with accuracy and spite
09:00 from the southpaw stance.
09:01 And Morales has been suckered into the same trap
09:05 on a couple of occasions
09:06 and you feel that the next time will be the finisher.
09:10 - Yeah, I think if he gets him in trouble
09:12 like he did at the end of the round,
09:14 then I think he might really try and turn the screw
09:16 and get the stoppage.
09:17 McKinson is, not that he's looked down on his feet
09:20 or anything, Morales, but he's just,
09:23 I think he just can't find an answer to the variety
09:26 and the shot selection of McKinson.
09:27 He's, you know, punches from all those,
09:29 you know, the angles, varieties,
09:32 going through the middle, up the middle,
09:33 around the sides, the body shots.
09:36 You know, there's that lead at right uppercut again.
09:38 Oh, beautiful shot.
09:43 Backhand uppercut right through the middle.
09:46 That's not an easy shot to land
09:47 and he executed that really well.
09:50 - And Morales, for his part,
09:51 well, he doesn't know if it's coming from the right hand
09:53 or the left and he doesn't know if it's going to the body
09:55 or to the head.
09:56 - Oh, good shot, really.
10:06 He's nailed it there.
10:07 Too hard left stand in the middle.
10:09 Makes you think Morales, even though he's taking,
10:12 he's taking a lot of clean shots.
10:14 - And there's almost a reaction in the legs
10:18 every single time that McKinson lands.
10:20 That one just whizzes by just over the top of the forehead.
10:23 And he's using Morales' momentum against him.
10:30 It's every time Morales comes forward,
10:32 he just whoops him onto them.

10:50 and he's just starting to enjoy himself

12:42 that has all the makings of an absolute barnstormer.

12:46 and I'd be surprised if it doesn't live up to its billing.
12:49 - Round four of this eight rounder at world's weight,

12:58 and in truth, a level above Levin Morales
13:02 who's hanging in there.
13:03 He's doing his best just to stay with McKinson
13:05 but McKinson when he goes through the gears
13:08 is just much, much better.
13:12 - Yeah, quality operator.
13:13 He's kind of lucky Morales that McKinson
13:15 isn't a bigger puncher
13:16 because he's eaten a lot of punches here McKinson.
13:21 Shots coming from all angles.
13:23 Good right hand there though from Morales.
13:25 So McKinson, just a reminder, can't switch off.
13:28 - Yeah, McKinson perhaps just got a little bit greedy there.
13:30 Looked for the home run, uppercut, missed
13:32 and Morales made him pay.
13:34 Needs a bit more of that than Nick Ragwin.
13:36 - That's quality work from McKinson.

13:45 Just put a lovely flurry of punches together.
13:48 His accuracy is really, really impressive.
13:55 Wasting very little, even movement.
13:59 And he's really economical with the movement as well.

14:10 And the shadow is just lengthening.

14:44 - Morales didn't like it and turned his back,
14:47 which is rule 101, protect yourself at all times.
14:51 And McKinson was right to just put his foot down.

17:12 but McKinson seems to have the answer to everything.

17:21 Not sure if these are wise tactics for McKinson
17:23 is bringing Morales into the fight.
17:26 Okay, he's, you know, giving as good as he can, I suppose.
17:30 But he's, you know, he's letting Morales get into the fight
17:32 by electing to stand the trade where
17:34 if he keeps it a long range and, you know,
17:37 keeps drilling in with those straight lefts
17:38 and those screw shots and the right looping left hooks
17:41 around the side, you know, then it's a one horse race.
17:44 But if he stands his ground and starts trading with Morales
17:48 then he's bringing him into the fight.
17:50 - Oh, lovely shot from McKinson.

17:58 Nice short uppercut started this barrage from McKinson
18:08 who desperately wants to get the stoppage.
18:12 And obviously by Morales opening up that
18:22 and when he does have a little bit of success
18:25 it will present openings and opportunities for McKinson.

19:01 got better hand speed, but, you know,
19:03 McKinson really so superior at long range.
19:08 And even on the inside, he just doesn't need to
19:10 get into exchanges.

19:22 Morales just opened up and then got clipped

20:12 Not an easy shot to land, but he made it look effortless.
20:16 There's that lead screw shot that he keeps throwing
20:19 and you see him there then getting off to the side,
20:21 changing the angle, quick feet.
20:23 - What a great shot that was by the time Morales
20:28 had his eyes back open.
20:30 McKinson was behind him.
20:31 - Thought he was playing hide and seek.
20:33 - Hold on 10 seconds.
20:36 - Yeah, what Morales could do with a better hiding place
20:42 at the moment because he can't seem to get out the way
20:45 of anything that McKinson's throwing.
20:47 McKinson's got that standout win in 2021
20:58 when he outboxed and outpointed Chris Congo.
21:00 That was over in Gibraltar.
21:01 That was their first loss for Congo
21:04 and it was a real launchpad for McKinson, if anything.
21:08 But he's got some names on his record as well.
21:12 Sam McNess back in 2018 and McNess was a good amateur.
21:15 - You know, assuming he comes through this fight victorious,
21:21 which I'd be shocked if he doesn't now, McKinson,
21:25 I'd really like to see him get a shot at the British title.
21:29 Not that I don't think he can go beyond that,
21:32 but the British title is a bona fide, legitimate,
21:35 brilliant title to win and I'd like to see him fight for that.
21:39 - There are fights out there, Echo Esserman,
21:42 Chris Congo, rematch, Harry Scarpe, Lewis Crocker.
21:46 Cyrus Pattinson's coming through.
21:49 Sam Antwi, gonna get in trouble because I'll miss someone out.
21:54 Danny Ball.
21:55 There's plenty of options out there,
21:58 but you wouldn't choose to fight McKinson, I don't think.
22:01 - No, he's very much on the list of the "Who Needs Him" club.
22:05 But boxing on Sky, opening up the television part of this show
22:12 and putting on a good performance, it all adds.
22:15 You'd think with his fight against Ortiz
22:20 and some of the wins he's had,
22:22 he must be getting close to getting into the mandatory position
22:26 for a shot at the British title.
22:28 - Good combination from Morales,
22:34 none of them really landed, but he finished with a sharp body shot.

23:21 these are all good shots, I'm just wondering if McKinson

23:31 - Credit to Morales again, he throws back.
23:36 He just seems such thudding shots from McKinson,
23:39 it really spins the head round of Morales,
23:41 he doesn't seem to ride them at all.
23:43 - Good speed, good accuracy,
23:47 maybe not the heaviest of hands.
23:50 I think if he was, I think Morales would already have been out there by now
23:54 because he's eaten a lot of leather.
23:56 - Boy, it makes you feel really welcome down here in Bournemouth

24:05 there was a number of activities taking place,
24:08 there was a beach clean, and then, I say,
24:12 some lucky people, or some poor souls,
24:14 put through their paces by yourself and Johnny Nelson.
24:17 - Yeah, very enjoyable, we've got a great turnout,
24:19 Paul ABC, Paul Hamilton Boxing Club,
24:22 and we did a little bit of community service,
24:27 picking up the litter on the beach,
24:28 and then put a few of the lads through the paces on the pads.

24:33 - Yeah, I see Clifton Mitchell there,
24:36 I see Mark Willey, I see Johnny Nelson,
24:38 yeah, there he is.
24:40 I mean, he signs up to this stuff, I mean,
24:43 he invites it.
24:45 Great to see such a turnout from the local community,
24:48 and it's important when we come down to these places
24:51 that we take our litter away with us.
24:53 Everything's been on the beer this week,
24:55 and plenty of activities on the beach,
24:57 so really good to see yourself and others
25:00 taking part in activities like that.
25:03 - That was a torrid sixth round for Morales,
25:12 but he's still there.
25:14 You mentioned the knockout ratio,
25:19 yeah, there's only three knockouts in the 24,
25:23 but he obviously punches with spite,
25:25 and McCann, referee Kieran McCann,
25:27 he's getting closer.
25:29 - This could be it now, I think,
25:30 he's started a round as well,
25:31 if he can make these shots count,
25:34 pick the right shots, don't waste them,
25:37 and if he can really turn the screw here,
25:40 he might just be ready to go here, Morales.
25:43 - Yeah, he's breathing heavy as well,
25:49 and it might not even be just one single shot,
25:51 it's just an accumulation of previous couple of rounds,
25:54 and he's been down obviously as well.
25:57 - Kieran McCann won't let him take too much punishment,
26:00 you wouldn't have thought.
26:02 Oh, McKinson just misses with the uppercut.
26:05 And you can hear the corner just shouting for speed,
26:09 yeah, that's probably the way to do it,
26:11 just punches in bunches,
26:12 and you think that there might be an opportunity to stop it.
26:15 - Yeah, I think he just kept beating up here now,
26:17 he's in Morales, and I think the ref is looking for it,
26:19 maybe the opportunity to jump in and stop this.
26:22 - Yeah, yeah, that's it, that's the stoppage,
26:25 Michael McKinson gets it done in the seventh round.
26:28 Morales isn't happy.
26:32 - Yeah, but do you know what,
26:34 I don't think he can really complain about that stoppage,
26:37 he took a lot of stick in that fight,
26:39 and he was starting to, you know, get more,
26:42 get hit more flush there with bigger shots,
26:44 and it was in the seventh round,
26:46 he hasn't won a round,
26:47 and he was shipping more and more punishment,
26:50 and I don't think that was a bad stoppage at all
26:52 by the referee.
26:54 - And as we alluded to in commentary,
26:56 he wasn't really slipping them, was he?
26:58 It wasn't like he was avoiding three or four,
27:01 I mean, he was getting pinged around there.
27:03 - Yeah, exactly, earlier in the fight,
27:05 you know, maybe he was getting hit with two, three,
27:07 and missing two and three,
27:08 but he was starting to get hit, you know,
27:10 flush with every shot there,
27:11 and fatigue probably kicking in a little bit as well,
27:14 you know, getting hit with a lot of shots here,
27:16 hasn't won a round,
27:18 I think the ref made the right call.
27:20 - And when you see a lot of people
27:21 like that, I mean, it's absolutely spinning his head.
27:24 - Yeah, exactly, I mean, that was a lovely shot,
27:30 and, you know, he was one of many,
27:32 it wasn't like,
27:33 he's already taken a lot of stick in this fight,
27:36 morale has shown a lot of guts,
27:37 a lot of toughness,
27:38 but I think he was starting to tire,
27:40 and McKinson was already getting stronger.
27:43 Yeah, I think that was the right call from the ref.

27:52 - He'll be delighted, Michael McKinson,
27:56 it's a home show of sorts, like I said,
27:58 just down the coast from Portsmouth,
28:00 only 50 miles,
28:01 and to get a stoppage,
28:02 he sold plenty of tickets, he'll be delighted.
28:05 - I'd love to get a shot at British style now,
28:07 I think, you know, he deserves,
28:09 he deserves that.
28:10 He can't be too far up getting into the mandatory position,
