02:30 Boxing on Sky Sports.
02:32 Brought to you by Voltirol.
02:34 Charge to the line for Sergio Perez.
02:37 Oh, that's going round!
02:39 That's Charles Leclerc into the barriers.
02:41 They have red flagged it.
02:42 Putting Sergio Perez on pole.
02:44 A mistake by Charles Leclerc ended the third qualifying session early.
02:48 He'll start from seventh.
02:50 Max Verstappen made a mistake of his own.
02:52 He'll start from ninth.
02:53 The front row of the grid, Sergio Perez on pole position.
02:56 Fernando Alonso alongside him.
02:58 Join us for live coverage of the Miami Grand Prix.
03:02 Today, seven o'clock, Sky Sports F1.
03:05 So that's Robert Cranston in the corner with Lauren Price.
03:14 Errol Johnson with Kirstie Bamington.
03:16 And there is the bell.
03:17 It's a beautiful bell.
03:20 It's absolutely amazing.
03:22 I got my hands on it earlier on.
03:23 And it's just got that great kind of weight to it.
03:28 So into the second round.
03:30 I think we heard Rob say between rounds, you know,
03:36 when she comes, meet her.
03:38 And sometimes in some of her previous fights,
03:40 and we're only three fights in,
03:42 but you know, Lauren has been guilty of rushing.
03:45 And she's got space.
03:46 And then all of a sudden, she hasn't.
03:48 And this fight, she has just took her time
03:50 and sapped a little bit more than the back foot.
03:54 These two just getting physical on the inside there.
03:57 Well, she's so quick, Price, with the reflexes
04:00 and with the feints that sometimes, if this makes sense,
04:03 she's almost too quick.
04:05 You just need to be quicker than the person in front of you.
04:08 And she moves at such speed that you get the sense every now
04:13 and again that it's thrown her own timing out,
04:15 just trying to flip that jab up from the waist.
04:17 Bamington staying nice and compact,
04:18 not giving anything away, just creeping in with that front foot.
04:21 It gives her a long left there, Price,
04:24 but Bamington has taken her feet back out.
04:26 Again, Price looking for it, but just squares up a bit
04:29 as she throws that left hand,
04:31 which is something she can tend to do.
04:33 I think because she's blessed with that speed,
04:40 she can actually take a split second longer
04:42 just to get that jab in.
04:44 And she's got a lot of room to get that jab in.
04:46 And she's got a lot of room to get that jab in.
04:48 And I think because she's blessed with that speed,
04:50 she can actually take a split second longer
04:52 just to compose herself, plant the feet, get a bit more power.
04:56 She doesn't need to rush it.
04:58 Good jab there from Price, just caught Bamington
05:12 as she was coming forward.
05:14 (CHEERING)
05:16 (BELL RINGING)
05:41 Well, there's a good crowd in here
05:44 turning up for these local fighters.
05:46 Backstage, this is the man who will take on Joshua Buansi,
05:54 Pavel Stepien, who was slated to fight Callum Smith
05:58 back in March.
06:00 That fight didn't happen.
06:02 He's undefeated.
06:04 And when you watch him, he's well set up.
06:07 He's all round. He doesn't really do too much wrong.
06:11 Working on his trainer, Yuri Vakhtarov.
06:16 And he's been very focused, very businesslike.
06:20 We did expect that from him.
06:22 But he's not shown any sign of nerves whatsoever.
06:25 (BELL RINGING)
06:28 (WHISTLE BLOWING)
06:30 He just catches Bamington with a left hand.
06:46 The one-two a couple of times before that,
06:48 they'd fallen to short.
06:50 But Bamington, trying to span around,
06:52 must have tracked where she was a little bit,
06:54 and Price was on to her.
06:57 (INDISTINCT SHOUTING)
06:59 Leading off with a hook there, Price,
07:17 as Bamington looks to really close that gap nice and quick.
07:20 Price working to the body.
07:22 Bamington creeping in, just touching with that lead left hand.
07:26 (INDISTINCT SHOUTING)
07:28 Babel want to make it uncomfortable for Lauren.
07:31 This is her first time round.
07:33 She's been there before.
07:35 She's going to want to put on the pressure
07:37 and get her out of her comfort zone
07:39 and make a punch when she doesn't want to.
07:41 Price with the one-two. Caught on the gloves.
07:46 Then again, just a little bit of a wrestle
07:52 on the right-hand side of the ring.
07:54 Yesterday, when the scale was yesterday,
07:56 Price, you look at her back, there's some real strength there.
07:59 Bamington again, just pounding with that lead left hand
08:03 and creeping in with that front foot,
08:05 maybe just waiting a little bit too long
08:08 before letting her punches go.
08:10 Price, again, there, just ditzy, goes to the body, comes back out.
08:22 (INDISTINCT SHOUTING)
08:24 Nice left hand.
08:26 (BELL RINGING)
08:28 (GUNSHOT)
08:31 (THEME MUSIC PLAYING)
08:34 Brought to you by Voltirol.
08:36 Our daughter's been married to a guy she just met.
08:38 I say we steal the rings.
08:39 Oh, my God. I cannot believe you.
08:41 I knew it.
08:42 What?
08:43 Tickets to Paradise, available now on Sky Cinema.
08:46 I heard what happened to you.
08:48 It was an accident.
08:49 I don't know how to do this.
08:52 Takes work.
08:53 I'd like to finish this.
09:00 Let's flush him out.
09:02 (THEME MUSIC PLAYING)
09:04 Well, that's Lauren Price's partner, Carys Artingstall.
09:14 And that's a boxing stay live in there.
09:18 In action pretty much in alternate months.
09:21 Artingstall, an Olympic bronze medalist,
09:24 and a lot of us expected of the pair of them.
09:29 So into the fourth round.
09:31 Good shot landed by Price towards the end of the third.
09:34 And again there, just letting her hands go a bit.
09:36 Battlington continues to come forward.
09:39 Just trying to parry that jab with her left as Price flicks it out.
09:48 That's good work there from Price.
09:54 Really stepped in behind the punches.
09:55 Three solid shots.
09:57 Got through unanswered.
09:59 As Battlington was just moving in.
10:01 She got onto the front foot, really took a feat winner as she threw those shots.
10:07 You can just see the head of Battlington rocking and rolling a little bit.
10:11 She's sticking to her guns here.
10:14 The fighter in the blue corner.
10:17 She's just coming in in straight line.
10:18 So when Lauren met her and just hit her with four clean straight shots.
10:25 Lauren boxes so much better when she's just a bit more patient and boxes off the back foot.
10:30 And gives herself that space and time.
10:32 And she doesn't rush and then they don't come together.
10:34 Because with southpaws, you see the feet are almost touching.
10:37 And you go from having a lot of space to no space quite quickly.
10:41 [crowd noise]
10:57 That was nice from Price.
10:58 Just slipped that right hand and looked to try and turn out of the corner.
11:01 Was looking for a left hand off the back of it.
11:04 But Battlington was slightly too close to it.
11:07 [crowd noise]
11:20 I forget how quick these two minute rounds just fly by.
11:23 Doesn't feel like that would get in there.
11:26 I can tell you that.
11:27 [bell rings]
11:28 Good combination from Price to finish the round.
11:30 And four rounds in.
11:31 You'd say that she's four rounds up.
11:35 [crowd noise]
11:41 Yeah, there's that combination.
11:42 Just coming forward.
11:43 Four or five straight punches.
11:44 Came in nicely with her feet.
11:48 [crowd noise]
11:53 And then out again. Battlington's just not really...
11:55 Battlington's got the speed of foot to really pin her down.
11:57 [crowd noise]
12:04 Left behind that jab and then face again.
12:06 That rhythm, Babang Turner.
12:08 Babang Turner, left, long reach for her.
12:11 [crowd noise]
12:16 Corner!
12:17 Ten seconds!
12:18 Back on the box and concentrate, okay?
12:20 Robert Cracken.
12:21 Pretty much saying there what you were saying,
12:23 which is that she doesn't really need to go looking for Battlington too much.
12:26 Just keep her moving, keep her turning.
12:28 And she will come to you.
12:31 That is essentially the message for Price there from the GB head of coaching.
12:35 It's been a long time since I've had Robert in my corner,
12:41 but, you know, with that calm voice,
12:43 and he makes things sound so easy.
12:45 [crowd noise]
12:50 [whistle]
12:51 [crowd noise]
12:54 [crowd noise]
13:13 Just short with that one-two.
13:14 Babington able to just pull those feet back out of range.
13:18 She hasn't had too much success yet, Kirsty Babington.
13:22 She's got to try and not get too discouraged here.
13:25 I can't actually think of a, you know, a good shot that she's landed.
13:31 I'm totally honest.
13:32 She's trying to put the pressure on and get close enough,
13:34 but when they get close enough, they're just holding.
13:36 That's a good right hand there from Price on the break,
13:40 as those two are just disentangling from each other.
13:43 Good, solid jab.
13:44 Yeah, I think it's going to get worse for her.
13:47 I think the more she tries to force it,
13:49 the more she's going to walk into shots.
13:52 You come back to the corner at the end of this round,
13:55 and you've lost it.
13:56 You've only got five rounds to even make it a draw.
13:59 And there's that right hand.
14:02 The one-two fell just short, and as I said before,
14:05 when she comes forward like that, she's committing to it.
14:08 The feet do still cross.
14:09 There's still a technical flaw there, if you like.
14:12 She comes square, and she does stand quite tall,
14:14 but she really does commit to it.
14:16 I think, like Mata before, it's just the speed of hand.
14:19 She can get away with it.
14:21 You've been hit with four shots before you realise
14:23 that she's square and that's all of that.
14:25 Hit and move, and she's done it, and she's away.
14:27 So, we've seen that one-off of our main event,
14:33 Pavel Stepien.
14:34 Well, now let's have a look at the man that he's up against.
14:39 Joshua Boazzi working with Virgil Hunter.
14:43 They've been together for a little while now.
14:45 He's been out of the ring since he boxed Craig Richards.
14:49 Almost a year ago, it's been frustrating.
14:53 He's watched other people get the jump on him domestically.
14:57 And it's not all about tonight.
15:02 He doesn't have to necessarily make some kind of
15:07 all-guns-blazing statement, but it would be nice if he did.
15:12 Let's put it that way.
15:16 He's got a tight team around him, as he always has.
15:20 So, into the second half of the fight here,
15:29 they're scheduled for ten.
15:30 The British title of the line for women for the first time.
15:34 That Lord Lonsdale belt on offer.
15:37 And that makes this a truly historic occasion.
15:41 The first one was given out in 1909,
15:43 a lightweight to Freddie Welsh.
15:46 114 years later, thanks mainly to the heroics of
15:52 Jane Couch in years gone by, this has now become a reality
15:56 for female pro boxers.
15:58 It is, and I don't think Jane Couch gets enough credit.
16:01 You know, without Jane, there's no us.
16:03 No, that's true.
16:06 I did see a really interesting suggestion from Jazza Dickens
16:08 during the week that they could have called this belt
16:10 the Jane Couch belt.
16:11 I liked it as an idea, but they've gone with the
16:14 Lonsdale belt to keep it the same.
16:16 I've seen that, I agreed with it.
16:18 I thought that was a good idea from Jazza.
16:20 Maybe even put it to Buzzenter tonight.
16:22 Would have been a great idea.
16:24 And again, Babington just looking to come forward here.
16:27 The spirit is absolutely willing, but as she gets close enough,
16:31 Price is just able to back up, give herself a touch of room,
16:35 and land the shots, catches it with the left hand
16:37 as she comes in there, Babington.
16:39 You can't fault the effort or the desire for Babington.
16:42 She's trying everything she can, but she's just...
16:45 She just doesn't have the speed of foot, I think,
16:48 to really close Laura down.
16:51 And Laura just kind of, as she does try to break that distance,
16:54 she gets hit with a combination of shots,
16:56 and then she's great at getting out of there,
16:58 gets the shots off, in and out, and then moves.
17:00 She actually landed a decent body shot earlier in the round.
17:05 You've just seen that out of frustration grown,
17:10 because she's trying to pin her down, she just can't.
17:12 Got caught by a right hand on the way in there, Babington.
17:17 Ten seconds remaining in round six.
17:19 She's been down the stretch plenty, Kirsty Babington,
17:23 but there's no sign that the tank is emptying here for Lauren Price.
17:27 It'll be uncharted territory for her as we head into the next round.
17:34 When you're on them squads, you're doing 10, 12, 13 rounds anyway,
17:39 and she's with the best amateurs in the country, Sparden,
17:42 got that Sparden in.
17:43 She's not going to...
17:45 She's boxing at a comfortable pace, it's not like she's making a way
17:48 at an unenlightened pace that she can't work at.
17:52 She actually is.
18:00 Yeah, just kind of backing up there, and then one, two nails,
18:03 or the third one, but you see she's already trying to pivot off to the side
18:07 then as well.
18:08 Your time as international's over, that's not by that long,
18:18 but by a couple of years, I think, yourself and Lauren Price.
18:21 Yeah, we did soon, she came on the squads for a little while,
18:24 and we did to the Sparden, myself and Chantal,
18:26 we're just a little bit ahead at that time.
18:30 She was a lot younger then, so I think nearly 12 years ago.
18:34 So into the sevens, she went eight in Paris,
18:41 so not quite uncharted territory yet for Price.
18:45 And Badminton again just coming forward, looking to try and make things difficult,
18:48 looking to try and get on Price,
18:50 look for any sign that maybe she might be about to wilt,
18:53 but when they get into this kind of wrestling match on the inside,
18:56 it's Price who's having a better of that as well,
18:59 because she is very physically strong.
19:02 She boxes a middleweight as an amateur,
19:05 not exclusively all the way through, she was a welter, then middle,
19:08 and was a middleweight when she had that huge success,
19:11 but she was quite a small middleweight,
19:14 hence her ability to step down to 147 pounds as a pro.
19:21 Nice combination again there from Price.
19:24 I think the weight thing, she was too big to make the 60,
19:29 there wasn't a 64 at the time, and the 75 was the other jump up,
19:33 so that was the reason I think behind her doing the 75,
19:36 great shot, great backhand.
19:39 Yeah, really nailed it there, just timed it, judged the distance perfectly.
19:43 (CROWD SHOUTING)
20:10 So closing stages of round seven, and this is a shutout in favour of Price so far.
20:14 It'll be interesting to see if she can clip through the gears
20:17 in the final three rounds and maybe force a stop.
20:20 But Badminton's never looked really hurt, she's been caught clean a number of times,
20:23 but hasn't looked that stunned.
20:26 (BELL RINGS)
20:27 OK, let's go ringside.
20:29 Andy's with former world champ Hannah Rankin.
20:32 Yeah, thanks, Hannah, great to see you.
20:34 It is history in the making, I just wonder as a completely impartial observer
20:38 how much you're enjoying this and what it means to you as a fellow female fighter.
20:43 Do you know, it's fantastic that we've finally got a British title for women.
20:46 I've been asking for it for a while,
20:48 and I just think it's really exciting to see it happening now.
20:51 It's a great fight here, and obviously on the King's Coronation,
20:54 fantastic timing as well.
20:56 Would you lead the call for more British titles in different weight divisions now?
21:00 Obviously this isn't your natural weight division,
21:02 but is there enough depth that we could start developing this
21:05 into the other weight divisions?
21:06 Definitely, I think if you're going down to lower weight classes,
21:09 lantern weight, up to lightweight, there's a lot more girls in these areas now.
21:13 So having more girls at these weights means we can definitely push for more
21:17 British titles, definitely.
21:19 Great to see you, I hope you're enjoying your night.
21:21 Very much so, thank you.
21:22 Well, there'll be more British titles on the way, I'm absolutely sure of that.
21:25 The board held their ground on this,
21:27 they always felt that there wasn't enough depth there.
21:30 They looked really unofficially at needing eight fighters of a certain standard
21:37 in a division for that to be worthy of awarding a British title.
21:41 Another crisp one, too, just rattled off there by Price.
21:44 And the fact that they did just stay solid on that means that now this has been
21:49 awarded this British title, this Lonsdale belt.
21:52 It's kept every ounce of the value and the prestige that it's always had.
21:59 But as I say, I'm sure there will be plenty more on the way
22:03 in the not-too-distant future.
22:06 You said it earlier, Matt, you can't fault the effort here of Abingdon.
22:19 She's doing what she does, she's getting onto the front foot,
22:21 she's trying to make fights work, she's hoping that she'll slow down,
22:25 that she'll get to her as we get deep into the fight.
22:28 But she's not really able to make an impression.
22:31 There's just a gulf in terms of ability between these two.
22:34 Yeah, exactly. She's trying to take the fight to her,
22:37 but she doesn't really have the quickness of foot to really get to her
22:41 or to put her under any real kind of pressure.
22:44 Lauren's really dictating all the times in there,
22:48 she's dictating the pace, the tempo, the distance at which the fight is fought.
22:52 And she can step on and step off whenever she chooses to.
22:56 I've spotted Kirsty a few times in some of your training camps,
23:02 and she is tough and she is game,
23:04 but tonight she's just walking in in straight lines, hands up.
23:08 She's got to throw something and at least give Lauren something to think about.
23:12 Just walking in in straight lines, it's not getting a court like that.
23:16 Lauren's just coming either with a backhand through the middle,
23:18 or she's just slipping and hooking and catching at every time.
23:21 She's going in in straight lines and out in straight lines
23:23 and not giving a lot of price anything to think about.
23:26 Two rounds to go here.
23:34 We've had one winner of Black Country Boxing already tonight with Tyler Denny.
23:39 Something extraordinary will have to happen if they're going to get another one here with Kirsty Babington.
23:45 It was always a big ask this because Price is who she is.
23:52 I just think the more desperate she gets, the more mistakes she's going to make.
23:57 She's got to give Lauren Price more openings.
23:59 Good turnout.
24:13 Plenty of local fighters on the card as well.
24:19 I dare say she will be back not too far away from South Wales either.
24:26 So for those Price fans, not an enormous distance to travel.
24:30 Babington just looking to try and have that right hand early on.
24:34 She'll keep rolling forward, we know that.
24:37 It's been a long time since boxing was in the Middlelands.
24:48 Saw one of your old foes, Mike, just behind us a few rows back, Wayne Elcock.
24:52 Yeah, Wayne.
24:53 Later in the evening.
24:54 Good lad, Wayne.
24:55 Many years ago, now we fought.
24:57 Again, just popping off that one too there, Price.
25:11 Rattling it on.
25:12 You get the feeling she could do that for 15, 20 rounds without any particular problem.
25:18 She's comfortable, she's in a comfort zone, she's punching when she wants,
25:21 she's landing when she wants, she's slapping it as anything.
25:25 And Kirsty may be able to dodge the first one, but three, four, five, six, she can't.
25:30 Yeah, see when she's trying to close the distance,
25:38 she looks to me like she's struggling to punch on the move,
25:42 that she wants to try and get her feet set before she can punch,
25:45 and then that kind of telegraphs to her likewise what she's going to do,
25:49 and as she tries to plant her feet, she gets popped with the shot,
25:52 and then she has to reset, work to try and corner her all over again.
25:56 For a lot of the fight, Lauren's been in head-holding,
25:59 and we've seen an hour drop into the body,
26:01 which in them later rounds always causes problems.
26:05 (CHATTER)
26:08 (BELL RINGS)
26:27 So nine of the ten Chechnya rounds completed,
26:31 just two minutes to go before Lauren Price will get her hands on that.
26:34 Inaugural British title, I don't think there's any doubt that that is what is going to happen,
26:40 and she's going to end up here, Matt, taking down a European champion.
26:44 She was an undefeated European champion as well, Kirsty Babington,
26:47 she never lost that title in the ring, and inevitably people will talk about,
26:51 "How would you move her from here?"
26:53 We mentioned Sandy Ryan, WBO champ, Sandy Ryan will have other plans,
26:57 she's not going to want to look at this as a potential fight for a while,
27:01 she's the one calling the shots, but it is an issue, isn't it?
27:04 How would you push somebody on?
27:06 That is going to be the difficult thing with Lauren,
27:08 it's who do you match her against,
27:11 but the fact that she wins this next round, she's going to be British champion,
27:16 I think you've just got to try and target the next European after that.
27:20 Well, for that vacant European champion, Dee Allen, a 4-0 British fighter,
27:27 has been matched with Kinga Magyar, so that hasn't been set yet,
27:31 but that does have to take place.
27:33 The name that stood out to me is Vivana Abuzin,
27:35 she's back down at Welterweight, she boxed Cecilia Brekkers
27:38 for the Undisputed titles at 147 back in 2014,
27:42 more recently went in with Caressa Shields at Super Welter
27:46 for a couple of world titles that now belong to somebody else.
27:53 Sitting not too far away, but she's dropped back down to 147lbs,
27:58 and she's the kind of person maybe if they could get that done.
28:02 You don't have that many options, are you?
28:04 Yeah, I think she'd be boxing McCaskill for the IBF
28:09 and the other titles that McCaskill has,
28:12 I know Sandy's now got the WBO,
28:14 but I think McCaskill has the others, the IBF is vacant and they're boxing for it.
28:19 But definitely, even the likes of Kandi Wyatt, maybe that beat Kirstie Babington,
28:27 so you see the cut lip now.
28:30 Good jab there again from Price,
28:34 who's just looked smooth and controlled all the way through this,
28:41 boxing entirely at her own pace, dictating turns.
28:44 Babington, as they've been saying, has given it everything she's got here,
28:48 she just hasn't been able to make any kind of impression on Price.
28:51 Again there, just comes forward, gets tagged with two, three shots
28:54 and continues to try and roll in.
28:57 Last 30 seconds.
28:59 I think I'll say as well with Lauren,
29:03 from the few fights we've seen in her professional career,
29:06 I've never really seen her get pushed out of first or second gear.
29:10 She always looks like she's got a lot more left in there.
29:13 I've never seen her under pressure,
29:16 so it'll be interesting to see how she copes with that.
29:21 She's been very comfortable in there tonight.
29:24 And there's a right hand just to finish things off.
29:30 And an embrace between these two,
29:32 and Babington in a little bit of pain there, I think,
29:34 as she just shakes hands with the corner there.
29:39 Rob McCracken, Gary Hale, Ian Gatt in the red corner for Lauren Price,
29:45 and Babington just bearing the scars of battle.
29:48 But you can't fault her effort.
29:50 20 minutes of solid work she put in there,
29:53 but Price was just a cup above right from the very beginning,
29:58 until the very end, and she will make history here tonight.
30:01 And become the first female professional fighter
30:05 to be awarded that Lorde Ronstadt belt.
30:09 And we're hoping it'll be the first of many belts
30:13 that she claims during her career.
30:15 Tough night for Kirsten Babington.
30:38 We always get that at the end of fights.
30:40 Well, not always, but almost always. It's always great to see.
30:43 And that's what's on offer.
30:47 That's Lorde Ronstadt in the middle there.
30:49 That's an ampated enamel portrait.
30:52 That's the only thing about that belt that's changed since 1909.
30:56 It used to show two fighters squaring off against each other,
30:59 and then in the late 1930s,
31:02 they changed it to a picture of a man himself.
31:05 Other than that, it stayed absolutely the same all the way through.
31:08 This one is a bit different.
31:10 That turquoise color into the ribbon just marks it out,
31:13 gives it its own signature, which is a good thing.
31:17 To win one outright, you need to win four British title fights,
31:20 including one mandatory defense.
31:22 I don't know whether she will go down that route.
31:24 Anyway, let's get the announcement.
31:26 Ladies and gentlemen,
31:29 after ten full championship rounds,
31:33 we go to the judges' scorecard for the official decision.
31:36 All three judges, see the contest, 100 to 90.
31:41 Declaring your winner by unanimous decision,
31:44 and now the first ever
31:47 Women's British Champion,
31:51 Lauren Pryde!
31:57 Ten rounds to nil with all three judges.
32:03 judges that was the only way that you could really score that
