00:00 Hi, I'm Anna from Viviana Does Makeup, and I have never actually coloured my hair myself
00:04 before, but today that is all going to change because I'm going to go it alone with a casting
00:09 creme gloss.
00:10 Now, if you haven't heard of it before, it's a semi-permanent colour that lasts around
00:14 28 shampoos, and it's designed to just subtly enhance your natural colour, so you're not
00:19 going to get any crazy colour change out of this.
00:22 So the fact that there is no permanent commitment going on here means that it is perfect for
00:26 a first time colourer like myself, but I'm ready to inject a bit of life into these looks.
00:31 Step one is picking your colour, and L'Oreal have actually made it really easy online.
00:36 They have a little diagnostic tool that you can go on, you can put in what your natural
00:40 hair colour is, and kind of add a few preferences of what colour you're looking to go, and then
00:45 they bring out a nice little range of colours that would be perfect for you, and one of
00:48 mine was this, and I went for it, it's Chilli Chocolate, and this is kind of a slightly
00:53 warmer tone than my natural shade, it's got a bit more red in it.
00:57 I think the colour will pair quite nicely with my eyes, and it's always nice to go a
01:01 little bit warmer for when the warmer months roll around.
01:04 Colour sorted, it's time to do an allergy test, which is so, so important, whether you
01:09 have coloured your hair 50 times in the past, or you're a first time colourer like me.
01:13 It's really easy to do, you just have to do it 48 hours before you plan to colour your
01:18 hair.
01:19 Just take the cream colourant out of the pack that you're planning to use, put a small amount
01:23 on to a cotton bud, and then just pat it behind your ear in three places.
01:27 Okay, so it's two days before I am planning to dye my hair.
01:31 I've got my colour, I've got my cotton bud, I'm just going to dab the colour on behind
01:36 my ear three times.
01:38 Allergy test done.
01:39 No reaction, 48 hours later, then you are good to move on to the fun part.
01:43 A quick checklist first though, and you're going to want to make sure that you have something
01:48 that you can cover your shoulders with, so I've got a black towel, and then I've also
01:52 got a wide toothed comb so I can distribute the colour through the hair, and then I've
01:57 also got some clips and hair bands as well so I can section things up when I'm putting
02:01 it in.
02:02 Okay, so what comes in the box?
02:04 We have a pair of gloves, I think they're going to come in very handy.
02:08 Instructions, again, very handy too.
02:11 Then there is the developing cream, and the cream colourant, and the shine enhancing conditioner
02:20 which I've heard really, really good things about.
02:22 Let me just consult my paperwork for a minute.
02:24 From what I have read, I think it is now time to put the gloves on.
02:28 This is all starting to feel very real now.
02:30 Then you're going to want to take your developer cream and your cream colourant and unscrew
02:34 the top of the developer cream.
02:37 Squeeze in the whole bottle of the cream colourant.
02:40 Put the top back onto the developer cream and then give it a good shake.
02:44 So now the colour is all ready and good to go, I'm just going to do a final few bits
02:48 of prep and I'm firstly going to wet my hair but without washing it and then towel dry
02:53 it thoroughly.
02:54 I'm also going to pop a bit of moisturiser just around my hairline and on the tops of
02:58 my ears and also remembering to cover my shoulders with a black towel.
03:02 Well, this is a good look.
03:03 There's actually two options when it comes to applying the colour to your hair and I'm
03:07 going to go for option A and that instructs me to part the hair using the precision tip
03:12 of the developer cream and then just apply it to the top and then spread through with
03:16 my fingers and then finishing off by massaging it all in when I've done the whole head.
03:22 So let's give this a go.
03:25 Going to start at the top of my parting and then just working that in, working that into
03:35 lengths.
03:36 Okay, next section.
03:37 I thought this bit could be quite messy but the formula is quite thick and if you massage
03:49 it in after you've applied it to that section, I haven't found it to drip or get anywhere
03:55 that it shouldn't be at all.
03:57 It's actually really easy to do that side.
04:00 I'm just going to move on to the other side before doing the back.
04:04 So it says you've got to use all of the mixture so just keep going until you've used it all
04:09 up.
04:10 I'm just going to use kind of the last strokes on the lengths of my hair.
04:14 Now one tip that my friend did tell me was to take a wide-toothed comb and just to drag
04:18 that through and make sure that the colour is all evenly distributed.
04:23 And then the instructions recommend you just clipping it up into a bun while you wait the
04:27 20 minutes for it to develop.
04:29 I'm going to leave it for 20 minutes but maybe if you've got a few greys, it's worth leaving
04:32 it on for another 5 minutes.
04:34 Make sure you have a device close to hand that can time accurately for you.
04:38 I'm going to use my phone.
04:39 So 20 minutes is on the clock.
04:43 Colour developed!
04:44 And now my next plan of action is just to go back into my bathroom and with some lukewarm
04:48 water give my hair a rinse until the water runs clear.
04:51 And now it's time to use the Shine Enhancing Conditioner and I have heard so many good
04:55 things about this product.
04:56 I'm so excited to use it and L'Oreal have actually revamped the Casting Creme Gloss
05:00 Packs recently to include 50% more of this stuff because it is that good.
05:04 And this is the finished look!
05:06 As a point of reference, here is the before and here is the after.
05:10 And so the before, my hair was quite a dark brown with a few warm tones in it but the
05:15 after has really brought those warm tones out.
05:17 I love it.
05:18 I just think it adds a really nice dimension to my hair.
05:21 It's just really subtle, really natural and it wasn't scary at all.
05:25 All it's done is just bring those natural warm tones that I had to the forefront and
05:29 you can really see that when direct sunlight hits it.
05:31 You really get that pang of kind of warmness and red to it.
05:35 Let's go see what Mark thinks.
05:36 Hey!
05:37 What do you think?
05:38 Yeah, I really like it!
05:39 So the colour is a yes but the thing that I love the most is the gloss and the shine
05:43 to it.
05:44 My hair is just so shiny and soft to the touch.
05:47 I haven't put anything extra in it, no serums or any of that jazz.
05:51 All I used was the colour enhancing conditioner.
05:54 Another thing to mention is the smell and like Mark said when he came in, it smells
05:58 really fruity, kind of like cherry and that scent is still in my hair now.
06:02 But it made the whole process a little bit more enjoyable and means that we don't have
06:05 to air out the flat for any funky smells afterwards.
06:08 All in all, a great product especially for first time colourists like myself or just
06:13 people who want to add a bit of something something or a bit of shine to your hair.
06:16 And I think in 28 shampoos time I'm definitely going to be rescheduling in another colour.
06:21 Yes, that's the one.
06:22 Right, it's in the diary.
06:24 Thank you so much for watching.
