00:00 Hi guys, welcome to my channel, I'm Ellie T. Thank you for coming, like I said.
00:10 So today's video is going to be about beginner cosplay makeup for both guys and girls.
00:18 About halfway through, once I get done with the basics, I am going to switch from doing
00:23 something that guys and girls can do together and then I'm going to go on to a more feminine
00:29 finishing of the makeup.
00:32 So if you're a guy, keep that in mind.
00:35 Some of it I will tell you whether or not this should be done for a gentleman or a lady
00:41 for cosplay.
00:42 So as you can kind of tell, my hair is wet right now.
00:46 I washed my face and my hair a few minutes ago.
00:51 The most important thing about cosplay makeup is to make sure that you start with a clean
00:56 palette.
00:57 So before you start doing your makeup, you need to wash your face and if you can, use
01:01 an exfoliator.
01:03 If you don't know what an exfoliator is, it is a cleansing product that's a facial scrub
01:13 and rather than it just being smooth like so, it has different compounds in it that
01:21 have more or less beads.
01:23 So you wash your face and while it does that, it strips away all of the dead skin, the oil,
01:27 buildup, etc.
01:30 Using washcloth or a loofah also gives you an exfoliating method.
01:36 So keep that in mind.
01:37 Another thing that I did earlier was I moisturized my face with some lotion just so that it will
01:43 give my makeup something to stick on more or less.
01:47 Before we do begin, I'm going to tell you what you should have depending on if you're
01:52 going to follow this or you're going to do your own method.
01:56 I'm going to read my list because my memory is really bad.
02:00 So you need primer, toner, bronzer, highlighter, blush, concealer, foundation, eyebrow pencil
02:07 if you want.
02:08 If you're going to do a natural cosplay makeup and you have good eyebrows, ignore that part.
02:14 Eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, lipstick, lip liner, and lip gloss.
02:20 Gentleman, primer, toner, bronzer, highlighter, a little bit of blush if you want, concealer
02:27 and foundation.
02:28 You don't need to do the eyeshadow stuff and the lip stuff.
02:31 Usually you don't do that anyway.
02:33 And then you need all of your makeup brushes.
02:35 I have mine around me so I'll be looking down during the video to grab stuff.
02:41 And yeah.
02:42 So the first thing I am going to do is, since I don't have a primer technically, what I'm
02:48 doing right here, this is an ice cube and a napkin.
02:51 It's cold, it'll minimize the pores.
02:53 Let me take my glasses off.
02:55 It'll minimize the pores so that it's not as noticeable.
02:59 Just wipe it on.
03:01 It's cold.
03:02 Wipe it all over your face.
03:03 Try not to get your face too wet.
03:05 If it is, just double up.
03:06 The paper towel will continue.
03:09 Wipe it all over your face, especially in the nose where you have open pores most of
03:13 the time, chin, forehead, etc.
03:17 Once you get your entire face done, you can stop with the ice cube and you're ready to
03:24 start.
03:25 So the first thing I am going to do is my concealer.
03:29 I don't have primer.
03:31 You should have primer.
03:33 I don't have any.
03:34 So what this little thing is, it is concealer.
03:38 I don't know if you can tell.
03:40 It's upside down.
03:41 Here.
03:42 There you go.
03:43 It's concealer.
03:44 Basically it's a spot treatment for your face.
03:46 So as you can see, I have different spots that need to be hidden.
03:49 So you just dab a little on each spot.
03:54 Trying to do it fast.
03:55 If it's too slow, I'll speed it up.
03:57 Okay, so you dab it on each spot.
04:00 I kind of did it messily.
04:03 And I use my foundation brush.
04:05 And you just smooth it out.
04:11 I'm being really fast.
04:12 I'm so sorry if there were lines and streaks.
04:14 Try to blend it so it looks more or less natural.
04:19 As you can tell, most of it is blended.
04:22 People can't notice as well.
04:24 So now you need to grab your foundation.
04:28 It's usually a powder.
04:29 I do believe that sometimes it comes in liquid form.
04:33 So mine has a little mirror on it.
04:35 Two of me.
04:37 And I take my foundation brush that I just used for my concealer and I do the spot treatment
04:42 again to go over.
04:46 Blending again so that you don't have any awkward streaks or such of color on your face.
04:53 You can also use your fingers, but I find it so much easier to do with my brush.
04:59 It gives me a nice finish.
05:01 As you can tell, I look better.
05:03 I look cleaner.
05:06 So I lost my brush.
05:09 I'm also going to go over with my blush brush and put some more foundation on the chin,
05:13 the nose, and the brow area.
05:18 This is just so that I have a better mix of colors.
05:24 Make sure that you get under the jaw to blend it with the rest of your skin tone so that
05:30 you don't look awkward and have streaks and runs and stuff in your makeup.
05:33 Well, not runs, but yeah.
05:36 Just try to make it look natural.
05:39 The next thing that you should do is do your highlights and lowlights.
05:43 I'm getting more makeup out real fast.
05:47 So the highlights and the lowlights generally consist of a concealer or bronzer, an actual
05:56 highlighter.
05:57 I use different colored concealers because I don't have money.
06:01 And it consists of shades that are darker than your skin tone.
06:06 One second, let me grab my brush so that I can run across the room.
06:11 Alright, so I am using my concealer brush again because I find it works pretty well.
06:16 What you do is you start with a dark color.
06:20 As you can tell, it's nice and dark.
06:22 Much darker than my skin tone.
06:25 Basically you suck your cheeks in and you draw out the furrow of where your cheeks are.
06:29 And then you go around the temples and down the jaw for my face shape.
06:35 It's different for every face shape.
06:36 I would look it up.
06:37 Usually you highlight the hollows and the temple area just so that you can add some
06:43 shadow.
06:44 But since I have a round head, I have to also do the jaws so that it doesn't look like I'm
06:49 just round still.
06:50 It gives me a little definition.
06:52 Again look online, find your face shape, and do the highlighting, lowlight, the way it
06:58 is.
06:59 If you have a round face, go ahead and follow this more or less to the T. It's kind of what
07:04 you need.
07:05 Basically like I said, you suck your cheeks in and you fill out the hollows.
07:08 One sec.
07:09 I'm going to go ahead and do the other side.
07:37 I also blend it with my blush brush because as you can tell I have some really dark spots.
08:04 I messed up a couple places.
08:07 Again, smooth it so that you look like it's all blended in.
08:12 I'm going to do my...
08:13 Where did I put my brush?
08:15 I'm going to end up doing right here too to add some definition to my jawline.
08:22 I'm going to blend that in again.
08:35 It's really important to wash your makeup brushes in between usage.
08:41 For me, I'm using Kylite Lowlight Concealer Foundation all with one brush.
08:45 So make sure that you wash it off.
08:47 The next one is highlighter.
08:50 For the face shape like mine, do a triangle here.
08:54 You do just under the eyes.
08:57 If you want, you can do a little bit right here.
09:01 So you get the spots that are usually hit by the light with the highlight and shadows
09:07 you do with the darker colors, your bronzer usually, or in my case, dark concealer.
09:16 This one isn't too much lighter or darker than my skin tone, so you probably won't be
09:20 able to see it very well.
09:25 If you do want to add a bit of concealer under your eyes, if you have dark circles kind of
09:29 like me, apply your concealer in a triangular pattern.
09:40 And just apply it in a triangular fashion so that you can actually conceal them.
09:47 Yellows work well too.
09:49 If you have any yellow cream-based makeups, put them under your dark circles and it'll
09:53 generally neutralize.
09:55 The cool thing about skin tones is that it follows the basic color wheel principle.
09:59 So if you add a red on top of a green or a green on top of a red, it will cancel each
10:05 other out and it'll look good.
10:08 If you want, you can also add a bit of blush right here.
10:11 Usually you smile and you add it to the round parts of your cheeks.
10:15 I have naturally red-ish cheeks, so I don't usually apply.
10:21 Gentlemen, I suggest that you don't add much.
10:26 I would just do the basics and leave your cheek color.
10:29 So hang on, I'm attacking my face with a brush just to smooth.
10:36 So yeah, this is a basic look for girls and guys alike.
10:40 Gentlemen, if you would like to add a little bit of eyeshadow as well, just to depth.
10:46 I'm moving more or less onto the women's section.
10:49 So if you're a gentleman and you don't want to watch, you can go ahead and skip to the
10:53 end.
10:54 Ladies, what I do with my basic is I do my eyeliner first and I just do a basic over
11:01 the eyeliner.
11:02 Hang on, I don't have a mirror.
11:05 So follow the lash line.
11:08 It's just like makeup application that you do every day.
11:11 I'm not going to fix that because I'm not going to be wearing this all day.
11:16 This is just for this.
11:18 I'm running out of time.
11:22 But basically you do your liner as much or as little as you would like and you move onto
11:29 natural skin tone colors for your eyeshadow.
11:32 So for me, you use the medium shade on the lid.
11:39 I like my really, really light ones.
11:45 Medium shade on the lid, dark shade in the crease, and the lightest on the up by your
11:51 brow.
11:52 For a highlight, I like mixing and matching.
11:58 This is more or less the same for all makeups unless you're doing a smoky eye and then there's
12:04 different techniques.
12:05 I'm not going to get into that.
12:07 For my highlighter, I usually use white.
12:11 This looks really bad right now.
12:13 So sorry guys.
12:14 So you can kind of see the difference.
12:16 This one's shaded, this one's lighter.
12:18 Sorry, I'm out of the camera a lot.
12:22 Yeah, that's a lot of makeup.
12:26 And then if you would like, you can also add a little bit of white down to the bottom corner
12:30 of your eye just to add a little bit of highlight.
12:34 You don't have to.
12:36 Ladies, you also need to add some mascara if you add eyeliner.
12:41 It's a personal preference of mine to do that, but it lets your eyes look bigger, like you
12:47 have more volume.
12:49 Important tip to use with mascara, do not pull it straight out.
12:53 Twist it when you put it back in and when you take it out, I'm getting eyeliner or mascara
12:59 all over the place.
13:01 If you pump it in and out, it ends up getting water, or not water, air, in and it dries
13:09 your mascara out.
13:11 If that does happen, don't worry, go ahead and add some, go ahead and add in some contact
13:21 solution.
13:22 It generally works.
13:23 So if you have one of these handy little things, it's an eyelash comb and a brow comb.
13:30 And it just helps separate your eyelashes so that you don't have to deal with that.
13:37 Another thing ladies is to add some lipstick if you don't have large lips, or not large
13:42 lips, but noticeable lip color.
13:45 I also suggest that if you do add some lip liner, I don't like doing lip liner because
13:50 it's a pain to get off in my opinion.
13:53 Also add some lip gloss over top.
13:56 Hang on.
14:00 That's a really bad lip color.
14:04 So sorry guys.
14:05 I'm grabbing stuff.
14:06 That's my brushes.
14:07 And you have a basic cosplay makeup.
14:12 It helps keep you from washing out.
14:17 Every day you can use it as well.
14:18 Just make sure that you are careful and you blend.
14:22 So thank you so much guys for watching, guys and girls alike.
14:26 This is a makeup tutorial.
14:28 It's probably a little weird for a guy to want to put on makeup if you are a gentleman.
14:33 And you're like, "Oh, I have to wear makeup?"
14:36 Yeah, it helps with cameras and lets you look natural in photos.
14:42 So thank you so much for watching, guys.
14:44 Like, comment, subscribe, etc.
14:46 Leave ideas for me to do down below and stay awesome.
14:50 Bye!
