How I Color My Own Hair at Home to Warm Caramel Brown Part 2

00:22 So in the first tutorial, I used the Claro's Age Defy hair color
00:26 to cover my stubborn grays.
00:27 And if you've never heard of Age Defy hair color,
00:30 then you're in for a complete shock because I cannot...
00:32 No, I mean truly, I cannot recommend this color to you guys enough.
00:35 I'll go even far as saying that this is beyond better
00:38 than professional hair colors that I've used in the past.
00:41 The color is so richly pigmented and hydrating
00:43 and the way it makes your hair shine,
00:45 you guys just have to go try it.

00:51 Alright, so about my ends,
00:53 I'm gonna use the Claro's Natural Instincts in the color #6
00:57 to darken and then neutralize some of the brassiness that I have.
01:00 But I might use something else next time
01:02 because this comes in 41 colors.
01:05 I mean, can you guys imagine 41 colors that you could play with?
01:08 Also, here are my ends.
01:10 It is brassy, but what I want you guys to take note of
01:13 is how flat my hair is here.
01:15 The brightness is the same from the top to the bottom.
01:18 So what I'm gonna do is show you guys
01:20 how to apply the Natural Instincts
01:22 so that your hair has dimensions in it.
01:24 We'll just call this the hair color contouring tutorial.
01:27 There are so many ways you can use the Natural Instincts,
01:30 but today, I'm gonna use the #6 Lika Toner
01:34 so that we can kill some of the brassiness
01:36 to create a warm caramel brown color.
01:39 But if your hair is looking ashy right now,
01:40 then you'll need a different color.
01:42 So be sure to check the back of the box
01:44 to see your own results before doing this.
01:46 Alright, so let's get started.
01:47 Make sure you do the allergy test for this as well.
01:51 I just do both at once so that I don't have to worry about it.
01:54 We gotta do this on damp hair.
01:56 So if your hair is dry, you should go dampen it now.
01:59 And then bring back a wide-tooth comb
02:01 and a hair clip for this next step.
02:02 And here's how we're gonna mix this.
02:05 We're gonna put on the gloves here.
02:07 Remove the top from the color activating cream.
02:09 Then pour the color enhancing colorant into it and mix.
02:13 And we're gonna do this in sections.
02:17 That's why I said to bring a clip.
02:19 But first, comb your hair.
02:20 Then clip up all the hair above your ears.
02:23 We're going to do this by applying it from the roots
02:26 to the middle of your hair first all the way.
02:28 So we're gonna spread the dye onto our hair,
02:30 then comb it through and repeat.
02:32 Make sure you don't get this on your ends though.
02:34 And I love how this is an ammonia-free dye
02:37 because it's not as damaging.
02:39 And when you're done applying the color
02:41 from the roots to the middle of your hair,
02:42 we're gonna leave it in the hair for about five minutes.
02:46 So
02:48 Then run the color through all the way for three minutes.
03:14 And you have to make sure you comb it through.
03:16 All right.
03:16 So in total, I left this in my hair for about eight minutes.
03:20 But remember, we all have different hair colors.
03:22 So keep checking every single minute to see
03:25 how light or dark it looks to you.
03:27 You know what you guys can do?
03:28 You can take a little bit of hair at the end
03:30 and rinse off just to see what it looks like.
03:32 If it's too dark, well, thank God it's not permanent color.
03:36 But if it's too light, we can always keep it in a little longer.
03:39 And after you rinse everything off,
03:40 we're gonna apply the color treat conditioner
03:42 and leave it in for about two to five minutes.
03:44 And do you guys see this?
03:48 This is the color refresher you can use in two weeks.
03:51 Again, you have to do the allergy test
03:53 and you leave it in your hair for about five to ten minutes.
03:56 And we're done.
03:57 You can use the same technique I showed you today
03:59 with other clear colors and formulas.
