00:00 Hi guys and welcome back to Get The Gloss. Today I'm gonna talk about
00:05 something that we all have in our makeup bags. I don't know anyone that doesn't
00:10 own one. No, I don't know anyone that doesn't own one. I don't know if you can guess what I'm talking about but it is
00:20 mascara. So today I'm going to talk about some of the best mascaras that I have
00:28 found. I am a huge fan of mascara because without it, as you can see, I haven't got
00:35 any on today, I look a little bit like a boiled egg because I have no like dark
00:41 lashes to give my eyes that kick that say people with darker skin or darker
00:46 hair have. So even though I've actually got really quite long lashes you can't
00:50 actually tell until they've got mascara on and then people say "wow you've got
00:54 long lashes" but I definitely need it. I'm definitely side with Charlotte Tilbury
01:00 she's a makeup artist as you know with red hair who first discovered makeup
01:06 when she basically started wearing mascara and it literally transformed her
01:11 life. The boys started running after her etc etc I think this was when she was a
01:15 teenager and it transformed her life and I can kind of I can kind of relate to
01:21 that. Mascara is an amazing thing it can change your whole face. Now beauty
01:27 companies focus on mascara it is such a big big seller in the beauty world and
01:34 some people do it really well some people not so well so I'm going to show
01:37 you today some of my favorites. Okay so some of the best I think on the market
01:45 actually at a cheaper price point are Max Factor's mascara. I know loads and
01:50 loads of makeup artists who use Max Factor mascara and they all say it's
01:55 just as good as the really expensive brands. I'm going to use this one I
02:00 haven't I haven't actually seen this one before I think it's new it's called Wild
02:04 Mega Volume. What I'm going to do is I'm going to put the mascara on each eye and
02:10 then you can see which one you think is best. So I'm gonna try this one.
02:18 Let me pump it a few times because it hasn't got much on the brush. So this one
02:26 has a wand that is kind of fat at one end fat at the other end and little in
02:33 the middle and it's a wand that has sort of old-school bristles rather than a
02:39 little plastic wand. I have to say I quite like the plasticky ones with the
02:43 little spikes that come out of it. Right and if you can see that yeah that's good
02:49 I like it this is actually brown black. I think brown black is great if you don't
02:55 want to go full-on for the daytime and if you're quite fair like me. So I think
03:00 that's really great. It's called Wild Mega Volume and that is from Max Factor. Can
03:05 you see the difference? Probably. Okay another one that beauty editors swear by
03:10 is Dior Show mascara. Dior Show by Dior. Loads of makeup artists use it because it
03:19 has the biggest fattest brush. Again bristles rather than spikes and it
03:26 really coats the lashes. I think it's got a lot of product in the base. I think
03:31 maybe that's part of the key to it. But it's quite famous for getting quite a
03:36 dramatic effect. Sorry I'm getting in my hair. Not intended. So you should probably
03:45 give your eyelashes a couple of coats. I might just wait for this and then give
03:51 it another coat. Yeah you can see that's quite dramatic actually. Yeah that does
04:02 give quite a sort of false lash effect which is quite amazing. Might not be the look
04:09 everyone wants for daytime but this does have a good reputation for that very
04:13 dramatic effect. Okay another one that I think is ingenious but if you can be
04:18 bothered to buy a second mascara. This is called the Bottom Lash Mascara and it is
04:23 by Clinique. Clinique have an amazing range of mascaras. I'm a really big fan.
04:27 Now this is the tiniest teeniest little brush. Again little bristles and this is
04:33 for your bottom lashes because if like me your lashes tend to rub against your
04:36 lower lids it tends to come off. I get darkness under my eyes and it makes me
04:41 look really tired throughout the day. This is a genius little thing which is a
04:45 tiny brush. Coats the lashes in a very kind of non-clogging way and it doesn't
04:54 come off. So I go out exercising a lot which is the biggest test for mascaras
05:00 and this is a genius little thing because it really doesn't smudge. That's
05:07 great. Apologies for my nail varnish coming off. I know I'm a beauty editor
05:12 but I'm really sorry I haven't had time to recoat them this week. Okay this is
05:18 called Double Fix Mascara. This is also brilliant. If you're going on holiday or
05:22 if you're going somewhere with a swimming pool or a spa and you want to try and
05:26 look glamorous at the same time, maybe you're on a romantic date for the
05:30 weekend, this is called Clarins Double Fix Mascara and it is a clear sealant
05:37 for your mascara. I just think it's brilliant for keeping in your
05:42 dressing table or somewhere and then whipping it out whenever you go away
05:46 because what you do, it basically waterproofs any mascara. So what you do
05:50 is you just coat it over the top of your mascara like so. Can't see it, can barely
05:57 notice anything. If anything it kind of can separate lashes that become a bit
06:04 clogged. Then you can go swimming whatever and literally your mascara
06:09 doesn't come off. That's brilliant and that is from Clarins. So now I'm gonna
06:14 take off some mascara and apply another one I'm a big fan of. I am NOT a massive
06:19 fan of oily eye makeup removers. I think that it gets in your eyes and it like
06:26 leaves your eyes all watery and horrible. So I'm really not a big fan of those. I
06:32 am a fan of really simple eye makeup removers. I know with waterproof mascaras
06:37 you do need an oily one but I generally don't use waterproof ones because I find
06:42 them so difficult to get off and so I love this extra gentle eye makeup
06:47 remover from Nivea and I love simple. I really don't spend a lot of money on eye
06:52 makeup removers at all. In fact because I live out in Oxfordshire I buy these in
06:57 the co-op whenever I can. Another mascara I'm a big fan of at the moment is this
07:04 one from Lancôme. I think I've spoken about it before and it is called
07:08 Grandiose Mascara and it has a very clever swan neck and basically it has
07:14 been designed to ergonomically fit to the different areas of your face. So if
07:18 you see it dips over the side of your nose to get to the roots of your lashes
07:23 really easily. I haven't got mascara on this eye so I will show you its effect
07:29 and also when you're doing it from this side it very easily reaches the roots
07:34 again of your lashes. It's very clever. It makes me wonder why no one's thought of
07:39 this before. As for the product itself in here it also it's not just a clever
07:46 design it actually really delivers. It doesn't come off under your eyes. It creates
07:51 longer thicker lashes. Quite separated lashes. Lancôme are quite famous for their
08:00 mascaras. So as you can see it gives a really great effect. It's probably more
08:05 separated than the Dior Show one. You can see that. So more sort of lengthening and
08:12 defining rather than thick. Sort of false lash effect. So that's very clever too.
08:22 And finally I'm going to show you Chanel's mascara. I really love Chanel's
08:27 mascara. It is called Le Volume de Chanel. It's quite a classic and I think it's
08:30 really great everyday mascara. This one does have little spiky plastic brush
08:37 which I think really good. I think they are very good at coating the lashes
08:43 evenly. So I'm a big fan this one and again this one does not come off when I
08:49 go exercising etc because I find that incredibly annoying. And finally I want
08:54 to talk about a mascara that I absolutely love and it's called the
08:57 Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara. I don't actually have it here
09:02 but to be honest that is actually one of my favorites out of all of them. It
09:06 doesn't come off. It really separates the lashes and it leaves them longer, thicker,
09:12 gives them that very sort of long sweeping, slightly very defined. So it
09:18 defines every lash effect and I really really recommend that one. What I've got
09:25 here is the High Impact Mascara which I don't think is quite as good as
09:28 the High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara from Clinique. So yeah maybe I'll show
09:35 you that one another time. So that is it today on mascaras. One thing I wanted to
09:42 ask you guys is if you could post below what you think is your favorite mascara
