00:00 Before installing my box braids, I did two strand twists on my natural hair.
00:06 I will explain why shortly, but this is how I prep my hair before box braiding.
00:13 I'm going to begin with my two strand twists and choose a desired size for my braids.
00:25 Next, I will split in half and make one side longer than the other.
00:33 That way we won't have a blunt cut and it won't unravel as easy at the ends.
00:40 Now let's install.
00:44 I am quicker at braiding over as opposed to under.
00:51 This is how I trap the two strand twists in between the kanakalon hair.
00:58 This is pretty much self-explanatory.
01:03 Twist one side across the other.
01:12 Allow me to slow motion that step for you all.
01:25 It's very easy.
01:27 So here we go.
01:29 Once our two strand twist is securely trapped in place, you want to just braid like you would your natural hair.
01:53 Now the trick in this is we're going to need to borrow some hair.
02:00 So we're going to take a little piece from one side.
02:09 And we're going to take another small piece from the other side to make it all even.
02:16 Once you have that step down pack, you just want to braid.
02:21 Word of advice and something that I had to learn on my own.
02:24 You want to keep the rhythm of the braid.
02:28 Because if not, you're going to wind up with lopsided and just uneven tightness.
02:35 And you really don't want that.
02:37 You want to braid as neat as possible.
02:40 And that's the only way to achieve that.
02:43 And here is the final look of my braids.
02:47 Here's the length.
