00:00 Hi everyone and welcome to Nicko's Kitchen's Fast Food Friday.
00:04 Today we're going to be making the most iconic fast food around the world.
00:10 It is something that I have received thousands of requests for and we're going to do it today
00:15 homemade.
00:16 Of course I'm talking about KFC's fried chicken.
00:21 He's got a bunch of meal Mondays, what you want Wednesdays, fast food Fridays, what else
00:27 could he share?
00:29 It's Nicko's Kitchen where satisfying meals are prepared.
00:37 So the first thing that we're going to do to get started on our fried chicken is just
00:41 into a bowl I've got some plain flour and we're going to season our flour.
00:47 First I'm going to be adding in some salt and some pepper.
00:51 Also going to be adding in some garlic powder.
00:55 Next is some onion powder.
00:58 And lastly some paprika.
01:02 And just give that a good mix around with the flour.
01:06 So that's what you'll end up with, a beautiful flour spice mix.
01:10 So we'll just put this to one side.
01:11 So just into a separate bowl I'm going to be putting in one egg and I'm also going to
01:16 add in some milk as well.
01:19 And just mix the egg and the milk together, just give it a whisk.
01:23 Now of course you're going to need some chicken.
01:26 Now the chicken that I've got is some drumsticks and some wings.
01:30 If you wanted to do the chicken breast or the chicken tenderloin you can as well but
01:35 just make sure the skin is on because that's how we're going to get that really crispy
01:39 skin on the outside.
01:42 So what I want you to do, really simple, is I want you to put the chicken straight into
01:47 the egg wash.
01:49 Make sure you get everything coated.
01:52 And then I'm going to be putting it straight into the flour.
01:54 And again make sure you get this really coated well.
01:57 Now just shake off the excess flour and I'm going to double dip back into the egg and
02:02 then back into the flour.
02:04 And what that will do is give us a really crunchy coating on the outside.
02:09 And just keep repeating that process for all the chicken that you have.
02:13 So once we've finished coating our chicken in the egg wash and the flour we're going
02:18 to deep fry them.
02:20 Now I've just got some vegetable oil in a large pan and I've just put a bit of flour
02:24 in the egg wash just in there to see if it's ready to fry.
02:27 And if you do that and it sizzles and rises to the top then you know it's hot enough.
02:32 So we've got our chicken here all nicely coated and I'm just going to pop it in really carefully.
02:39 Also with one of our wings as well.
02:44 So guys we want to cook this for about 12 to 15 minutes depending on the size of the
02:51 chicken.
02:52 And essentially on the outside is a nice dark crispy skin with that batter.
02:59 So guys it's been about 10 minutes you can just see here that's the colour that you're
03:02 after that beautiful golden brown colour.
03:06 So what I want you to do now is just turn the heat off, drain them on some paper towel
03:11 and then we can get stuck into these bad boys.
03:15 So there you have it guys.
03:16 It is so easy to make the smell is one of and just looking at that crispy skin on the
03:25 outside.
