00:00 Anyone who has done any research into dog breeds must have come across the very aggressive
00:05 and energetic Dogo Argentino.
00:08 But is this aggression any use to the breed when placed in the ring with a real-life heavyweight,
00:14 the Cougar?
00:15 Stick around to the end of this video to see who would win in a fight between a Dogo Argentino
00:21 and a Cougar.
00:22 The Dogo Argentino breed is a large, white, and muscular dog breed that was developed
00:28 in Argentina for the primary purpose of hunting big game.
00:32 By big game, we are referring to big cats, deer, and similar creatures.
00:38 The Cougar, which can also be called a Puma, Mountain Lion, Panther, and Canamount, is
00:44 a territorial ambush predator that is known to prey on almost anything, regardless of
00:50 its size.
00:52 Any other information about the contestants that you would need to know, you will find
00:56 out as the video progresses.
00:59 With all that out of the way, let us get straight into the bout.
01:04 Round 1.
01:05 Aggression
01:07 The Dogo Argentino is naturally aggressive with its size, power, and energy.
01:13 The dog breed has a natural instinct to protect its home and family.
01:18 This means that they can get overly aggressive with strangers and other animals, especially
01:24 when they seem to be intruding.
01:26 As for Cougars, they are also extremely aggressive big cats, and they can be dangerous to both
01:32 humans and dogs.
01:35 In fact, the Puma is regarded as the most elusive and aggressive of the large cats in
01:40 the world.
01:41 For this round, we would have to give the win to the Cougar on the terms that the Dogo
01:46 Argentino also has the potential to be very friendly.
01:50 Around their owners, these guys become very cheerful and can make the best companions.
01:56 This can be a weakness because who knows when the Cougar could strike.
02:01 Round 2.
02:02 Hunting Skills
02:03 It does not take psychic abilities to know who would take the lead in this round.
02:08 However, you might reconsider riding off the underdog so soon.
02:13 The mountain lion has been here for millions of years, evolving in different ways to hunt.
02:20 Thanks to evolution, they are more capable at hunting than any dog breed.
02:25 However, it would be unfair to not give the Dogo Argentino its due credit as a hunting
02:31 dog.
02:32 As mentioned earlier, this dog was bred for hunting some of the wildest and rugged animals
02:37 like Puma itself.
02:39 Nonetheless, we still have to give this to the Cougar because of the hunting experience
02:45 of the big cat.
02:46 Also, the Dogo Argentino is completely domesticated these days, which means it hardly does any
02:53 hunting.
02:55 Round 3.
02:56 Bite Force
02:57 So far, it is already clear that the Dogo Argentino is not your regular dog breed.
03:03 This dog breed possesses a bite of 500 PSI.
03:08 While this bite force might not be the most powerful in the world, it is powerful enough
03:13 to create serious damage from a single bite.
03:16 The Puma also has a pretty strong bite.
03:19 However, they do not do as well as the Dogo Argentino when it comes to the strength of
03:24 their bite.
03:25 The Cougar records a bite strength of just 350 PSI.
03:29 While the Cougar might be more of the killing type, the Dogo Argentino has a stronger hold
03:35 with its bite.
03:36 They have such a strong bite that even strong prey cannot escape once they latch on with
03:41 their teeth.
03:43 They hold on to their prey till the human hunter gets there.
03:46 So for this round, the Dogo Argentino takes the point.
03:51 Round 4.
03:52 Intelligence
03:53 This is a tricky round to judge, considering that dogs are arguably the most intelligent
03:59 animals on the planet.
04:01 However, Cougars are one of the most intelligent large cats.
04:05 The major reason the Dogo Argentino gets a point over the Cougar is the fact that Cougars
04:11 have not evolved enough to be trainable.
04:14 Their intelligence is only based on instincts.
04:17 But with the Dogo, you get a versatile working dog that is ready to carry out your instructions
04:23 to the latter.
04:25 So this round goes to the Dogo Argentino.
04:29 Round 5.
04:30 Athleticism
04:31 This is another round where there is a very tight gap between the two contestants.
04:36 In the Dogo Argentino, you get a dog that lives for daily exercise.
04:42 Without getting its daily dose of activity, the Dogo Argentino becomes the worst version
04:47 of itself.
04:48 The Cougar is also a very athletic cat.
04:51 We already mentioned that the Cougar is one of the fastest big cats in the wild, and this
04:56 speed helps it to perform some of the most athletic feats.
05:01 To confirm their athleticism, Cougars also have very muscular hind legs that allow them
05:07 to jump some mind-blowing distances.
05:09 They are also very good at swimming and climbing trees.
05:14 All of this mixed with the range of game that the Cougar is known for taking down, gives
05:19 it the win for this round.
05:22 Round 6.
05:23 Agility and Speed
05:25 Both the Dogo Argentino and the Puma are equally agile with very fast reflexes.
05:31 They have a reaction time that is less than half a second.
05:35 But the Cougar trumps in this round, and there is enough proof for that.
05:40 Cougars have the ability to leap as high as 18 feet in the air and a distance of 45 feet
05:46 horizontally.
05:48 Even more so, the Cougar can hit a top speed of 80 km/h, while the Dogo can reach a less
05:55 impressive 50 km/h.
05:59 These figures are more amazing when you realize that the Cougar weighs twice as much as the
06:04 Dogo Argentino.
06:07 Round 7.
06:08 Muscularity
06:09 Both the Puma and the Dogo Argentino are very muscular dogs.
06:14 However, as we just mentioned, a fully grown male Cougar can weigh more than double the
06:20 weight of the Dogo Argentino.
06:22 An adult male Dogo would weigh about 45 kilos, while an adult male Cougar can weigh up to
06:29 100 kilos.
06:30 Now, while this means that there are more muscles making up the Cougar's build, it
06:35 does not necessarily give it the win.
06:39 When we consider the muscle density of these two animals, we see that they are very similar,
06:44 if not exactly the same.
06:46 So for this round, we have a tie.
06:49 Round 8.
06:50 Stamina
06:51 This is the final round for today's fight, and for this round, we are considering how
06:56 these two will perform when put in a real-life attack or be attacked situation.
07:03 When in a situation like this, Dogos seem like they're on drugs, not only from their
07:08 display of intensity, but also for their ability to become numb to all forms of pain.
07:14 They are so focused on the objective of holding down and killing their prey that they almost
07:19 completely block out any pain once they get into attack mode.
07:24 With the Cougar, you get a less persevering animal.
07:28 The moment the Cougar notices that the hunt might fail or that it is about to receive
07:32 a big hit, it immediately lets go and conserves its energy for the next chase.
07:38 So we have another win recorded for the Dogo Argentino.
07:42 While we wait for the judges to collate the results, take out the next 5 seconds to subscribe
07:47 to the channel and turn on post notification so you never miss any of our videos in the
07:52 future.
07:53 That said, if you've already done the math, you'll see that the Cougar narrowly takes
07:58 this one.
07:59 However, in a one-on-one fight, we would seriously back the Dogo because of its unwillingness
08:05 to back down no matter the odds.
08:08 We would like to hear your thoughts on the rounds and what your judgment would be.
08:12 Let us know in the comment section below.
08:14 If you enjoyed this video, here are two more videos we think you'd love as well.
