00:00 So on this nail we're going to do a gel mosaic design.
00:22 I've already done a base in acrylic by sculpting a stiletto so we're ready for our gel design
00:27 to go straight on top.
00:28 So you're going to use a variety of colours to make some shapes onto the nail.
00:53 Fit the gels right next to each other.
01:00 And we're ready to go.
01:26 And every one of these nails will be different so don't worry if you can't get them the same
01:35 on all the nails, it's better to do them slightly differently.
01:54 Working on them side walls, make sure they get a good coverage of product.
02:01 I'm really just using the tip of my brush to move these products around because they'll
02:14 self level anyway.
02:42 Making sure you don't get that gel onto the skin.
02:49 Just check that you've got the whole nail covered.
03:14 And that nail can now go into the lamp for three minutes.
03:22 In you go.
03:24 So what we're going to do now is outline these shapes with a gold and that will create your
03:32 mosaic effect.
03:38 So, we're going to start with the top.
04:04 And we're going to work our way down.
04:33 So, really I'm just using the tip of my brush to do this and then your lines don't come
04:57 too thick then.
05:00 You could do this with paint after if you wanted to.
05:09 And that can go back in for another three minutes.
05:38 So we're now going to cap this whole nail in our clear gel.
05:45 So, a thin layer over the whole entire nail.
06:02 And then a build layer.
06:10 Place your bead on, pull it forward, let it settle.
06:21 If you feel like you need to move it use the point of your brush.
06:35 Check it from all different angles to check that you've got enough on.
06:46 But do give it time to settle, it makes your job easier.
07:00 Okay, that nail's ready to go back into the lamp for three minutes.
07:14 So we need to take this sticky layer off now.
07:16 So you're going to use your gel wipe for that.
07:25 Remembering that the uncured gel can be the thing that causes allergic reactions in clients
07:30 so make sure that you just wipe it forward and you don't rub it.
07:34 And we're ready for filing.
07:42 Clear gel is a lot softer than acrylic so you don't need to be as harsh with your file.
07:46 You don't need to put as much pressure on.
07:51 And it's a self-levelling product so you shouldn't need to do too much filing to get it the right shape.
08:20 We're going to do a little bit of hand painting on this nail so we need to smooth the surface with our white block.
08:35 And then we can get rid of our dust.
08:48 So we're going to be using our black paint so add a little bit of water to it so that it's nice and fine.
08:55 I'm using a nice fine detailer brush.
08:58 And all we're going to do is just highlight little sections of the gold by running black alongside it.
09:15 You don't have to do them all.
09:19 (painting)
09:48 (painting)
10:06 Let that paint dry and then you're ready for your gel top coat.
10:19 Just moving the finger to check that the shininess has gone from the paint.
10:38 (painting)
11:03 And that gel top coat needs to go back into the lamp for two minutes.
11:10 So to finish this nail off, just a little bit of cuticle oil,
11:17 massage it.
11:20 And that's the mosaic gel nail done.
