Sing for the King: New music for Charles’ Coronation

  • last year
Twelve new pieces of music personally commissioned by King Charles will be performed at the Coronation, alongside music by the likes of George Frideric Handel, Edward Elgar, and Sir Hubert Parry, which have historically featured in coronation services. The new pieces - which include a new Coronation Anthem composed by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber - will showcase the diverse musical styles and talent from across the UK and the Commonwealth. The Choir of Westminster Abbey is one of five that have been practising ahead of the service on Saturday 6th May. Report by Jonesia.
