00:06 just a few months ago, brought about by the diplomatic rapprochement between Riyadh and
00:11 Tehran.
00:13 The two regional powers want to bring an end to the war in Syria and have negotiations,
00:18 particularly at the Arab League meeting on the 19th of May in Saudi Arabia, which will
00:23 bring together 20 countries.
00:26 Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Faisal Megdat discuss the necessary steps to achieve a comprehensive
00:31 political settlement of the Syrian crisis and contribute to the return of Syria to its
00:36 Arab fold.
00:38 Syria has been isolated internationally since the start of the civil war in 2011.
00:43 Saudi Arabia renewed contact with Damascus on the 6th of February when it sent aid to
00:49 earthquake victims in Syria in areas controlled both by the government and by rebel forces.
00:55 Since then consular services and flights between the two countries have resumed.
00:59 They have also stepped up cooperation in anti-drug trafficking and anti-terrorism operations,
