00:00 to the Almighty God.
00:02 As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
00:06 I am M.G. Gulam Rahman Naim,
00:09 Imam al-Kateeb, Post Moroccan Mosque and Islamic Center.
00:13 We the Muslim people keep fasting during the month of Ramadan
00:17 for the only thing so that we can acquire the attainment,
00:21 I mean the pleasure of Almighty Allah.
00:23 And we believe that if I keep fasting the month of Ramadan,
00:27 it will help us to improve.
00:30 Spirituality we can feel something.
00:32 If you want to prove it, you can keep fast,
00:35 then you will feel it, inshallah.
00:36 We keep fasting the whole month, you know,
00:39 and it started from the sunrise to sunset.
00:42 And during the month of Ramadan at night,
00:45 we pray together and every Muslim, they love it, you know.
00:49 And during that prayer, we will recite, we read the whole Quran.
00:53 And we try to, you know, the Quran is a very, very divine book
00:57 and very important book for us.
00:59 And that's why actually we try to worship, lots of worshipping,
01:03 so that we can be closer to Almighty Allah.
01:05 And towards the end of Ramadan, what will happen, how will you celebrate it?
01:10 Okay, when it really is, it depends on the moon sighting, you know.
01:14 And because you know that Arabian month is depending on the moon sighting.
01:19 So that's why when it really the month ended, that time we observed, I mean,
01:24 the Eid al-Fitr day, you know, that's called the Eid, celebration Eid.
01:27 So that time actually when the Eid day, we meet together,
01:31 all the people we meet in the mosque, in the field,
01:34 then we celebrated with praying and we give the thanks
01:39 because according to our faith, we believe that if any Muslim
01:43 keep fasting the whole month and if he abide by the rules and commandments,
01:50 Islamic Sharia, I mean, as well the Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala's commandment also,
01:54 so that person will be forgiven, will be forgiven by Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
02:00 and all the sins will be forgiven.
02:02 That's why actually according to our faith, that day we celebrate that we are,
02:06 we have no sin, that's why we are celebrating, that's it, yeah.
02:10 A common question that do come up, why not water?
02:13 Why not water? I mean, that is the thing, that water and eating, drinking
02:22 is prohibited during the daytime, forbidden to eat and drink, to eat and drink.
02:29 So sometimes, you know, the eating and drinking is similar, okay.
02:33 Sometimes if you want to eat, so water needed.
02:37 If you want to drink, so it means that if you want to drink,
02:41 it means that you have everything, I mean like hydrogen, oxygen, yeah.
02:47 So everything is compared with this body.
02:49 So we should, we should, shouldn't take water also so that we are fasting.
02:57 Fasting, it doesn't mean that just stop eating.
03:01 Fasting means you will have to stop everything.
03:04 You will have to stop everything, okay.
03:06 So you have to be pure that time, that day, you have to be pure.
03:10 So if you drink, so sometimes it take part with the eating,
03:15 so it will be equal of eating.
03:17 So let's say if you want to drink, so why, what is the problem of eating?
03:20 So the eating and drinking is similar, so you shouldn't eat and you shouldn't drink.
03:25 But if you need it, if you feel problem, that time you are permitted.
03:28 Islam says, if Islam never force you, Islam says if you want, if you feel good,
03:33 then go for the fasting.
03:35 If you do not feel good, so don't worry, you can, you can, you can, you can do it later.
03:40 You can do it later. Islam give you the opportunity to do it.
03:43 So I mean stop drinking and eating.
03:47 So there's no option that you cannot, you can stop it, but you can take drink now.
03:52 You have to stop eating as well the drinking also.
03:57 What is it? You know, as I mentioned earlier, that during the month of Ramadan,
04:04 we beg forgiveness to Almighty Allah and we worship to Almighty Allah
04:10 and we spend a lots of time, huge time in the mosque, huge time in worshipping,
04:15 so that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala forgive us, so that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala forgive our sins.
04:20 So according to our faith, we believe that if we spend our life,
04:27 if we spend the holy month of Ramadan month very nicely, perfectly,
04:32 so definitely Allah says in Quran that you will be forgiven.
04:36 So according to our faith, we think that when the month of Ramadan finish,
04:39 it means we got the forgiveness from Almighty Allah.
04:43 Now we should enjoy it. That's why we are enjoying.
04:46 And that is the enjoy day is the day. That's why we celebrate.
04:50 But our celebration is different. When we celebrate, first we thank to Almighty Allah,
04:55 come to the mosque and pray, and by praying we thank to Almighty Allah,
05:00 then we celebrate all the day, we go to our relatives house,
05:06 we share our food, everything we share, and the children come to us,
05:11 we will give them the prize, gift, everything.
05:14 So that day, I mean during the Eid day, we are very excited and we enjoy too much.
05:22 And everybody, I mean the kids, younger, senior, and the older people,
05:27 all the people actually, they can enjoy the day.
05:30 No matter what religions or what culture you belong to, or what holiday you celebrate,
05:37 it's very important to understand more about the other beliefs who are living around you.
05:45 Approximately 1.9 billion Muslims will celebrate Ramadan this year.
05:51 May this Ramadan bring happiness, joy, peace, health, and wealth to you all.
05:58 you all.
