  • last year
Recovery efforts are continuing in New Zealand after ex-tropical cyclone Gabrielle caused widespread damage across the north island leaving at least five people dead, and displacing thousands more. The storm system reached New Zealand on Sunday before making its way down the east coast of the north island. The damage has left entire towns cut off, bridges have been washed away, and livestock lost. Communication and access to several areas remains difficult and surveillance flights are underway to identify isolated areas.
