Surah Al Mulk (The Kingdom) - Recited by Hamza & Omair - The Mic Check Youth Series

  • last year
The Prayer Hall at the MCC (with overfill areas) accommodates more than 800 worshipers, but for a few precious minutes each month we clear out the prayer space for a youth or pair of youths in the East Bay to express their love for the Qur'an by reciting their favorite verses with melody and beauty.

The MCC Mic Check series is a teen-initiated effort. The series is curated by Muslim Student Association (MSA) at California High School in San Ramon.

About Their Qur'anic Selection:
Sūrat al-Mulk is the 67th chapter of the Quran, comprising 30 verses. The surah emphasizes that no individual can impose his will on another; he may only guide and set an example.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying, "There is a Surah in the Qur'an which contains thirty Ayat which kept interceding for a man until his sins are forgiven. This Surah is 'Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion.' (Surat Al-Mulk 67)." [At-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud]

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Verily, the one who recites the Qur’an beautifully, smoothly and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses, then he will have TWICE that reward.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari).
