Unconventionality rules in UglyDolls, an animated musical adventure starring the acting and singing voices of Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, Janelle Monáe, Blake Shelton and Pitbull. In the adorably different town of Uglyville, weird is celebrated, strange is special and beauty is embraced as more than simply meets the eye. Here, Moxy and her friends live every day in a whirlwind of bliss, letting their freak flags fly. Moxy's curiosity leads her to wonder if there’s something on the other side of the mountain which nestles Uglyville. She gathers her closest friends and sets off to find another world – Perfection – a town where conventional dolls are trained in protocols before they are sent to the “real” world to find the love of a child. The UglyDolls will confront what it means to be different, and ultimately discover that you don’t have to be perfect to be amazing.

Die UglyDolls sind Kuscheltiere, bei denen in der Spielzeugfabrik ganz schön was schiefgelaufen ist: Manch einem fehlt ein Auge, manch anderer hat dafür eins zu viel oder für ein strahlendes Lächeln einfach ein paar Zähne zu wenig abbekommen. Doch egal wie unperfekt die Uglys auch aussehen, an Spaß und Lebensfreude fehlt es ihnen in Uglyville nicht. Nur die vorwitzige Moxy glaubt fest daran, dass irgendwo da draußen noch viel mehr auf sie wartet. Sie überredet ihre bunten Freunde Lucky Bat, Wage, Babo und Ugly Dog, das vertraute Tal zu verlassen und eine Entdeckungsreise auf die andere Seite des Berges zu wagen. Ihr Weg führt sie zum „Institut für Perfektion“, wo makellose Puppen für den Einsatz in den Kinderzimmern der „Großen Welt“ trainiert werden. Moxy will mitmachen, aber der strenge Ausbilder setzt alles daran, die UglyDolls schnell wieder loszuwerden. Doch so einfach gibt Moxy ihren Traum nicht auf, auch eines Tages von einem echten Kind geliebt zu werden...
