Saint Valentine is the ultimate symbol of romance, and for centuries now, we have utilised this man’s annual feast day - February the fourteenth - as an opportunity to celebrate love. And while we often associate this global tradition with love hearts, red roses, and date nights, you might find it surprising to learn that the story behind this holy martyr lies quite close to home… Some of the remains of Saint Valentine can be found inside a wooden box, on display at Blessed John Duns Scotus, a Catholic Church in the Gorbals. They have been here since 1993 when they were passed over from St Francis’ Chapel near by.
