Chef Adam Jones (Bradley Cooper) had it all – and lost it. Adam Jones ist wie ein Rockstar: Genial, erfolgreich, leidenschaftlich und mit einem äußerst exzessiven Lebensstil. Dieser kostet ihn den Job als Chefkoch in einem der exklusivsten Sternerestaurants in Paris. Ein tiefer Fall, aber nach über zwei Jahren ist Adam Jones clean und zurück in seiner Wahlheimatstadt London. Er taucht bei seinem alten Freund Tony auf und will dessen Restaurant zur neuen Topadresse machen. Tony ist hin und her gerissen zwischen der Genialität und dem Wahnsinn seines Freundes, willigt aber schließlich ein und Adam legt los. Er will die Besten der Besten im Team für sein bahnbrechendes Restaurant, er will 3 Sterne – und er will Helene, die außergewöhnlich begnadet kocht und zudem noch sehr attraktiv ist. Einziges Problem: Helene kann Adam nicht ausstehen, der wie ein Besessener seine Mitarbeiter für ein perfektes Menü in den Wahnsinn treibt und regelmäßig die Beherrschung verliert.
