Fünf Jahre nachdem ihr Mann, die Liebe ihres Lebens, auf einer Reise nach Mexiko verstorben ist, lebt die Witwe Nikki einfach so in den Tag hinein. Ihr Freund Roger ist einer der wenigen Menschen, denen sie sich wirklich anvertrauen kann. Doch es braucht nur eine seltsame Begegnung und Nikki verliebt sich auf den ersten Blick neu: Tom ist ein offenherziger Kunstlehrer, der keine Chance ungenutzt lässt, das Leben zu genießen.
