Hundreds of schools in Birmingham closed or partially closed for the first set of NEU strikes. More than 23,000 schools across England and Wales are affected. Up to half a million workers have striked - the biggest day of industrial action in a decade.

A West Midlands Police student officer Haider Siddique has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a 13 year-old girl. Ex-PC Haider Siddique, 22, was arrested after a bus driver spotted him acting inappropriately towards the victim on a bus March last year. He has been remanded pending sentencing on 3 March.

Rockstar Ozzy Osbourne announced that he will not be able to travel to the UK and Europe for his tour anymore. His Birmingham concert at Resorts World Arena has also been cancelled. Fans will get refunds on their tickets from their point of purchase, said the musician while apologising to them.
