In 1970 the group Magic returned to Michigan and got signed to the Motown's Rare Earth label, and in 1971, began recording their second album the self-titled album, which featured songs composed by the group. The sound became more rock soul-funk oriented and featured Stevie Wonder playing keyboards and piano on some songs. "Magic" had some good reviews, but not long after its release Motown moved West and without a label the group disbanded.
