Garmisch-Partenkirchen is an Alpine ski town in Bavaria, southern Germany. Nearby is Germany's highest mountain, Zugspitze, at 2,962 metres (9,718 ft) above sea level.
Garmisch (in the west) and Partenkirchen (in the east) were separate towns for many centuries, and still maintain quite separate identities with a rivalery going on between them that is mostly on ironic terms, but not always though...
After a great collaboration with GaPa Tourismus last summer we decided to team up again and shoot a winter episode.
There is an incredible amount of things you can do within a very small radius from the city. You can literally leave the city in any direction and find something amazing to see and to do.
You even take a train from the city center which brings you directly to the Zugspitze, the highest mountain peak in Germany were you can spend the night in an Iglu.
But don't take my word for it. Check it out yourself and enjoy this trip through stunning landscapes, breathtaking mountains, traditional carnival and picturesque postcard settings.
Thanks to Elisabeth Brück and Kathrin Richter from GaPa Tourismus for making this episode happen.
For all drone shots in this film there were permissions from multiple parties necessary.
Please do not fly your drone in any of these locations without proper permission!
