In this video, we detail two of these concerns - global warming (covered quicker than you've ever seen it covered before) and what runoff from unsustainable farming practices (and flooding) can do to the reef. We're not picking on farmers or government here. Jonathan's dad grew up on a farm (and is presently a contractor for the US government), and Carrie grew up on a 5,000 acre farm. We're acutely aware of the challenges farmers face and the risks they take, just to provide for their families. (Not to mention farmers provide the food for the world.) We're not picking on government either. Australia's government and other organizations are doing a great job in working to achieve the delicate balance necessary to help businesses grow, while also creating solutions which protect the fragile environment around the reef. We made this video to help people understand that one of the challenges facing the great barrier reef is farming runoff, and that there aren't simple or quick answers, but working together, we can make the world a stronger, safer and better place to be. http://www.IslandReefWork.com
