New joint federal operation to target online hackers

Australian Federal Police will form a new permanent joint operation with the country's cyber spy agency to target online hackers, particularly criminal ransomware groups which the government has described as "scumbags". The move follows the recent devastating hacks on Medibank and Optus which Australia has blamed on criminal gangs located in Russia.
