How cow hooves are deep cleaned
  • last year
Nate Ranallo is a hoof trimmer in Wisconsin who works mostly with dairy cows. He walks us through how he cleans the hooves and removes a sizable screw from one and tiny rocks from another. He uses a variety of sharp tools, including a hoof knife and an angle grinder, to dig them out. The process doesn't hurt the cow. In fact, Ranallo says that it gives the cow relief from any pain or discomfort it might feel from having something lodged in its foot. The process can also help the cow heal much quicker than it would in a natural environment.
